IDK if someone wants to waste their time and sP creating and abandoning a lot of pets, then go ahead I guess. I don't understand why someone would want to do that, but I don't know of any particular rule against it.

I remember it being brought up as frowned upon from months back, someone was dumping questionably named pets en masse and the pets in question all got renamed by staff (I think?). There were supposedly measures put into place to prevent that and I vaguely remembered reading that spamming the pound like that wasn't allowed. So when I saw the pound numbers very quickly rising, I went to fill a ticket and check.

I'm hoping they'll clarify that once they get to clearing the rules up. Staff did mention that this is something they're working on and there's a topic here in suggestions about it already.

No to deleting pets currently there, but changes to abandon pets to discourage this kind of thing sounds good.

How about raising the abandonment fee? Currently it's what? 10,000 sP? And if one person seriously dumped over 90 pets, that's not even 1 million sP. Easily made in a few minutes just by doing the right quests.

Maybe raise it to 50k. Even 100k. Still affordable for people who want to abandon a pet or two, but will really add up for anyone thinking of pulling this mass creation stunt again.

Or instead of raising the fee, they could add an amount of time that you have to wait in between abandoning pets. Didn't Neopets have something like that where you could only abandon a pet once every few days or something? That would be good to prevent spamming pets as well.

Yeah, some kind of timer for abandoning pets would work too. Limit how many you can abandon in a certain time period (5-10 a week should be more than enough for most people).

Is there a timer on abandoning newly created pets? I know your account has to be a certain age, but I don't know about pets. Having to wait at least 24 hours to abandon a newly created pet would help a lot too, if there isn't something like that in place already.

I think an increase in the fee should be considered too though. It's tiny right now. And while it might not be used enough to make a huge sP sink, it's at least something to help take more sP out of circulation.

And I'm not sure about the new pets thing, I've never done it so I don't know if there's a wait limit. But something like that would help as well.

While I think that yes something needs to be put into place to prevent this in the future, I don't think the pets that are in there should be mass-deleted. I'm sure many newbies/older users will find something in there they like eventually.

Absolutely don't mind the Pets there. The names aren't bad so why delete them? As some others said, it at least gives me a reason to spend more than 1 second on that page-

Don't agree. The pets have names that are actual names, as opposed to 12398123470982374 like some of the dumps in the past.

Also, in the past, we've had hundreds if not thousands (I want to say thousands, but maybe not) of abandoned pets, so 70-80 is hardly a difficulty. It'll go down soon what with all the new pet slots all over the site.

I think it'd be pretty easy to spot the trolls dumping pets or abusing the adoption center (like the legion of bloodred harvesters earlier). Those people should be banned from using it for a time. Maybe there could be a report button on the AC front page to alert staff when users spot an issue.

My hobby on this site is adopting common colored pets and zapping them or turning them into a more desirable color. Sometimes I can change quite a few pets in a limited time so I'm not really keen on the time limit, but if it's the option staff think is best then I'll support it 100%.

i don't see a point in deleting the pets once they're made but the abandon fee should be raised -- 10k is peanuts.

No! Don't murder the pixel pets! Sometimes I pound surf and can snag some pretty nice/decent names!

I like it when there's a pound dump. A lot of newbies who are starting out might not the funds yet to create a Glade, or Reborn, ect.

I agree with all these ideas:

• limiting the number of pets abandoned in a given time frame [5 per day? 10 per week? 20 per month? something like this would be ok enough for those who want to adopt pets for zapping, to turn them into more wanted colors]
• increasing the fee to do so - 10 k is seriously nothing
• preventing users to abandon newly created pets [shouldn't affect pet transfers].

I'm not too sure on being prevented from abandoning newly created pets. I tend to create pets to zap and put in the AC. Quite a few times I've gotten lucky and the first zap is an awesome one. I don't want to hang onto this pet for however long for it to no longer be considered "newly created".

If you're asking why I create instead of adopting, a lot of times when I'm ready for the next pet there either are no pets in the AC or the ones in there already have nice colors.

Though really, I don't find this to be a big problem (not counting that we're not suppose to do this). I'd rather take those pets for zapping than resorting to creating them myself. (None of that matters right now as I don't have any free slots.)
