Yup! I wouldn't mind finding a balance as long as neither side gets cut short. Game payouts definitely are miserable as they are now and if you're playing for profit, you're not getting much out of it. D: The quest-a-thons this year kinda burned everyone out on questing.

I was burned out even before that - it's doing the same thing for three years to save up for something that burned me out. D:

Quests honestly should remain as is. The one issue I had with Neopets was I had to play games constantly to get anywhere with money and even then, after playing several hours, wouldn't amount to anything. I don't want that on Subeta at all. Quests are great for being very quick to do and a decent profit. The items sell really well and that helps with the income. Make the payouts better for those that game, sure but nerfing quests just because they pay out decently? Definitely not, otherwise I would be very limited as not many of the games that are on here I like to play.

Oh, ouch. D: Yeah, mixing things up while you're saving up for something definitely helps to keep you sane. I've had quests as my routine prettymuch since... I don't know? I'm kind of way past the point of burnout. [sub]Send help.[/sub]

That is exactly the reason why I want the game payout upped. I am way past burnt out on quests that I don't even do Shinwa's anymore. I want the option to alternate between something that will end up burning me out (quests), something that will frustrate me (restocking), and something that will nauseate me (games, but I don't get that nauseous with them).

@ guro Pfft, thanks for the giggle! x) Here's hoping staff chime in. I'm really curious to see if something will become of this topic.

I mean, if high quest payouts were such a pressing issue for the economy's stability, wouldn't staff be talking about it and taking suggestions from the userbase on how to balance things instead of throwing 2 quest-a-thons nearly back to back, together with the everything-is-a-WSQ boost both times? I dunno.

Because quests put out too much sP. Period. Regardless of the state of the games, the quests put out too much sP

The quest have already been reduced from 20-30 to 10-15, and the individual payout is hardly more than they used to be back then, so the overall payout is actually less. I don't understand why the rewards need to be reduced further.

The overall sP broke the 3 trillion mark a week ago. Focus on how to keep the growth in check instead?

(I think this topic should have another feedback thread on its own)

Good point. The payout per quest was less but the overall profit was about the same because we had twice as many quests to do. We also sold twice as many quest items in our shops so made extra profit there. More things used in quests meant more things worth restocking for profit as well. These days, however, it's often cheaper to buy a quest item from an NPC shop than a user shop.

There have been experiments in the past. Very few people did Cinthia's Toy Quests when they lost sP per quest. There was a time when Pete's payouts were so poor that you could lose sP doing them as well even if you restocked the items from NPC shops. Not many people did his quests either.

Quest payouts turned up in this topic because games and quests are related - they both generate sP.

I was thinking about posting a bunch of random stuff about the old quest system, but realized that my goal was only to explore how things changed instead of focusing on the past. But yes, there was a bunch of tweaking a few years ago, and before that you actually had to skip quests to improve your daily haul (so learning about prices to remember which to reject was important to save time and sP).

Actually, I have heard complaints that Saggi isn't really as rewarding as he used to be, but I'm still glad his quests have stabilized in this current state of asking for just two rarish items (instead of four which created about 200k per quest, or that crazy time he paid up to 50m before people realized it was a silly idea after a few days it stopped), and that at least made restocking rare items profitable again. Profitable or not, Saggi's arguably the biggest source of sP entering the economy.

Nerfing quests doesn't make sP leave circulation, so I don't support simply doing that. If the goal is to reduce sP entering circulation, we could change quest payout. That likely necessitates new content because we have a ton of 'stuff' over time that went stale, but Subeta's pretty slow on delivering new things. However, we have to be pretty careful not to mess up the economy and still make questing satisfactory at the same time, because people need to sell their items too. So this might also need a reduction of payout items entering and deflating prices, so it's a delicate balancing act.

(About the topic, this was originally about games, and I think quests are getting too much attention. Quests could easily be split into another thread.)

You could start a new thread because you know what kind of issues you want us to discuss.

Admittedly, I don't know what to discuss about quests, because they currently aren't really a major issue to me to as for others. It's more of a reply to the second post, which I don't think anyone anticipated it would be a full fledged topic on its own.

It's looks like I have covered what I was thinking about it, so I'll hold off unless there are any questions about what I posted :)
