Feel free to ping me / comment me / whatever in the future if you think I'm intentionally being mean or something comes off weird about a post of mine! I'm more than happy to clarify or talk things out!
omg I wasn't saying "more TS restocks!" just like..."here's three things from the 'please bring this back' thread, shout out to which one you want this time around".
Or just, you know, some small thing that you guys would actually want to do. I'm guessing wildly at suggestions here, I don't know how this place works.
oh my god, this blew up. i didn't mean to do this.
thank you for linking oatmeal! :]

Glad to see this method isn't something planned to be used a lot going forward.
I do kind of like the idea of 'effort votes' (which sP really isn't, due to the amount floating around on-site and/or CWs and other art, but I digress). It's different than 1 and done voting.
Perhaps in the future you can 'earn' votes from things anyone can do? Like 1 vote is free, and you can earn more if you feel that strongly by questing, playing games, restocking, using the gift center, making an avatar, etc. Some sP would be sunk, and site activity would pick up. A little care shown to avoiding more inflation-sensitive things (like baking, scrolls, alchemist, etc) and it would be very accessible.
I've spent little to no money on this and I've voted for all of them. Why? Well because they gave me the chance to vote for every single one of them. To me, it kind of killed the intent right away. I think that if we were to vote for a single one and ONCE, then maybe it would be more representative of the actual general vote.
Either way, the weird birb won so it doesn't matter really.
(late response haha, also hello again!) I actually Didn't want the peacock to win. I have so many and I've always thought they were special since they can only be zapped or adopted and I didn't want more flooding the site and making the existing ones less rare and special. SUPER SELFISH of me. i know! and i was thisclose to spending a LOT of sp on the blob. Like if I had, it would have won. BUT I didn't. (i'm sure other's could say the same thing.) Like it's kinda weird/crappy that my bankroll could have been the deciding factor. I totally get that! It's not a great feeling.
Overall though I usually like stuff like this. And for how it did work out, it seems like most people are happy so that's what counts I guess.
hey! I'm curious about something. (Humor me? lol) i see the mention that the peacock pet had the most unique votes along with sp. Question- So if people had donated enough sp and the blob won do you think ya'll would have still given us both? Or would it just have been like a .. well even though more people wanted the peacock pet (unique votes), since more people bought the blob that's the winner. ? Or would the Blob have been the only one offered since it would have won based on the original rules regardless of unique ids? (and I'm assuming if that had happened you probably wouldn't have told us that the peacock had more unique votes since it could have made it an issue for people.) It all worked out, I'm just curious if you know what you would've done! <3
Personally, I'm not a big fan of a pet species being determined by a 'who has the most money to throw at things' sort of contest. I do understand that the horse-peacock-thing would have won even with individual votes rather than the sP sink that was went with, but it's still a bit disheartening. I wasn't that personally invested in the poll, as I'm not sure I would have ended up owning any of these experiments/pets either way, but.. Well, my absolute favorite species is the hipottu, which is widely regarded as the least desirable species on-site (I vaguely remember freaking out over the galactic hipottu's release in the news post, and at least one other person being amused because I'm like the only person who cares about the species, lol), so I really hope that pet species don't often end up determined by popularity, because it's.. generally pretty easy to predict what the results will be. Making things that are going to be popular isn't necessarily a bad thing, and I really hope it's not coming off like I'm implying it's inherently wrong! It can just be kind of depressing because people tend to favor the prettier, more elegant things over species that would help add diversity to the Subeta species list.
Like a lot of other users, pets are my priority here; they're definitely what I'm passionate about. It's great that more experiments are being turned into pets, but this poll has just left me really hoping that it won't set a precedent for popularity/money-throwing contests in the future. I'm not trying to say that the horse-peacock-thing didn't deserve to win, because obviously it's always been an experiment that a lot of people love (it's certainly very beautifully drawn!), but since we already have a few equine pets, it's a little sad that this won over the squid and pangolin-sloth-thing. The idea of more future pets (or experiments-turned-into-pets) being determined by popularity rather than adding diversity to the available species is... not very fun, so I really hope this is just a one-off sort of thing due to Euclid, or that in the case of future polls, there won't be one 'pretty' pet (and one gimmicky pet, lol) against several more unique ones. It sounds like this was definitely more of a character/one-time thing, which is reassuring, but I still thought I'd give my two cents!
Also, I'm really glad to hear that a squid pet is being considered for the future c: I'm not hugely passionate about cephalopods in particular, but it seemed like it had a lot of support, even just because the pet species list could really use some more marine creatures, and I'd love to see what else could be done-- cephalopods seem like they'd be tricky to draw but could be hugely rewarding in some of the redrawn colors, tons of potential!

I think setting this up as a money throwing thing as opposed to a straight one vote per person thing actually made it more fair for those pets who don't have the popularity behind them. I don't think blob would have stood a chance based on popularity, but the people who wanted it to be a pet REALLY wanted it to be a pet and voted a lot for it. that's my take on it. In the future, I hope we don't default to this setup. But for this event, I'm happy with it.
