omg hahah at the tits light switches XD
I feel like I should have some sort of balloon-related cleaning tip. But I don't.
oh oh but canned air (the kind you can get in the office supplies section of stores, for cleaning computer keyboards) is great for blowing dust off intricate things and plushies. I use it to clean my Drifloon/Drifblim collection. So there, balloon-related!
yay! new house! exciting!
i wrote with pencil on the wall [can easily be cleaned, but it's really useful] next to the light switch which is the on position and which one is the off position. my lights' switches are not all positioned the same way :( so if i have a blackout out, or a light bulb goes out, i'll know to turn it off. very important when changing a light bulb. [not sure this makes a lot of sense, i might edit this later]
try and make a monthly plan for cleaning, and try to stick to it. ideally, one day you use the vacuum, mop, and dust, another day you clean the kitchen, the next one the bathroom, and so on. the first time around it will take some time, but them it will be easy to complete because you just maintain.
use some aluminum foil on your stove: it will protect it from accidental spills, oil drops. and it will make it easier to clean..
I really have to update my blog ObscureJourney and my review site BeingObscure. French speakers can read my reviews here.
I just wanted to drop in to say Congratulations on moving out, I hope you're happy with the new place once you've got it all cleaned up.
I don't really have any cleaning tips that haven't already been shared.... I know for me, finding some good music to clean to helps make the chore a little less awful.
, thanks for this give-away! Best tip I can give you is concentrate on cleaning/painting etc. one room.. the one you'll sleep in. The rest take your time and it doesn't hurt to get help. Good luck!
I really like if possible..
Thank everyone so much for the feedback!<3 I will try to get through all of them to pick a winner this weekend, I do have a lot of stuff to do but ill try to get a break to get on ;D

my big tip is to make sure that you're vacuuming everything before you put the furniture down -- there's nothing quite so disappointing as having to vacuum around the big desk you just installed when you realize that there's sawdust everywhere!!
Congrats on your new place ....
Dryer Sheets - work great to remove water spots on faucets, mirrors, any fixtures,
Vinegar & Water - 50/50 mix - put an old sock on you hand, dip in the vinegar solution and wipe each slat of your window blinds.
Getting rid of the smell on sofas and chairs - First brush off the surface of the couch, then generously sprinkle baking soda on the area you want to clean. Just let it sit for about 20 minutes and then vacuum it up using the brush attachment.
Lint Rollers - work great for cleaning lamp shades or the bottom of drawers to get those crumbs and little items left behind when organizing and cleaning drawers.
Good luck!!
Toothbrushes make nice little scrub brushes for hard to reach places. If a toothbrush won't fit, toothpicks are great too! And if the thought of repurposing a used toothbrush squicks you out, they can be bought extremely cheaply! Congrats on the move, and I hope the cleaning goes well.

The most important thing, if they are trashing the place, is DO NOT GET ON THE LEASE. This puts you at risk that your brother could kick you out at any minute, but they can't come after you for any damages that the landlord might try to come after you for after youve moved out. It is honestly worth that "getting kicked out" gamble to not be charged/sued to replace the interior of an apartment!
OH LORD do I have a story! Settle in, this is a doozy! Okay so when my husband and I bought our house, we were told it had been a rental property for a few years. The whole place was white walls with dark wood trim, and we decided to make it our own by painting each room a different color. We ended up with greens in the living room and bedroom, yellow in the dining room, blues in the kitchen and bathroom, and purple in the office. We decided to keep all the hallways white, to break up the different rooms better and better compliment the dark wood, so we did the halls first since we figured they'd take the least amount of time. What we DIDN'T know until we had finished the upstairs hallway: all the previous owners/renters/whoever had painted latex paint directly on top of latex paint... on top of more latex paint... on top of even more latex paint. Layers upon layers of nothing but latex, about 4-5 layers deep in some spots. We peeled giant sheets of paint off the walls with our bare hands, like stripping off wallpaper. It took 4 of us an entire day to clean. They looked like pieces of jawbreaker candy. It was amazing and horrifying.
As far as general household tips, we all but have stock in Magic Erasers. They are a godsend for basically everything. <3 Also, don't try to do everything right away, or by yourself, that leads to burnout pretty quickly. Enlist helpers, make lists, and delegate jobs.

omg i had purple hair for a few years and i always used to lean my head up against my (white) bedroom wall in the same spot, so over time a giant purple blob formed where i'd lean. I figured once I moved out it would come out w/ some cleaner or bleach or water or SOMETHING but omg no it did not so there's just a nice purple stain for whoever lives there next lmaooo.
in the apartment i just moved into my fridge doesn't close all the way so extra cold air gets pumped in to make up for it but it all just goes to the freezer and omg let me tell you that nothing in that freezer will ever thaw. I had chicken cooking for 30 minutes in bite sized pieces in boiling soup that had been in that freezer that was still raw when i cut it open.
so I guess my diy tip is...don't do either of those things?? hahaha good luck at the new place :)
I only have a few tips- if you are vacuuming with a hose on a vaccum (great for corners, small spaces, spiderwebs) you can pull a nylon or very thin sock over the tube so it doesnt suck in small objects (good if you have jewelry or something you are afraid you dropped) before going full on vacuum...its also good if you dropped a needle or pins etc on the floor and want to make sure you find it. Probably not great for hoarder cleaning though. For that, I would say make a baking soda vinegar paste and let set on things then to scrub- works on lots of stains and ovens etc. I can post a google link if wanted, here http://www.hgtv.com/design/decorating/clean-and-organize/cleaning-with-baking-soda-pictures
Microwave a bowl of water before cleaning the microwave. Comet brand -powder- works MIRACLES, gets sink slightly damp, sprinkle, let set 20 in, scrub. Magic erasers and a tiny bit of water works great on small surfaces, and yep toothbrushes work well. I dunno if this will work for you, but my mom did it , get a clean new paint roller, tape handtowel on well both ends, soapy water, squeeze., attach reaching handle wash the wall with the paint roller...
vinegar to remove scents is a huge yes especially apple cider vinegar, we use it on pet stuff :)
when packing use your bath towels and plush socks qrapped and rubber banded if needed on your breakables, to save space and money on wrapping
Not sure if you're still taking entries, but either way this is a good tip. Make sure your fire and carbon monoxide detectors are in working order. Congrats on the move and thanks for the giveaway. c:

- Congrats on moving out! Just reminds me that I still need to get going on my bathroom renovation.
The best tips I ever got for cleaning my house was from my grandmother. She taught me that a few drops of Dawn in a toilet will act like a nicer version of Draino. Wiping baseboards with a dryer sheet will repel dust for a couple weeks. And get a drill with a scrub brush to clean the walls in your bathtub. My husband loves doing that :P

thanks everyone again who had joined I loved all of your ideas and tips! Sorry it took so long to reply we had a lightning storm and it hit my parents house and caught on fire so I have been busy helping them salvage stuff and it only got to our attic but water and smoke damage we have to gut the master bedroom and living room that was below it due to so much water damage. It also struck my dads work truck and brothers truck the same night an hour later and fried them!
❤️
Omg that storm sounds intense. I hope everyone's okay now!

Oh wow, I'm so sorry to hear about the storm damage... that must have been terrifying. I'm glad no one was hurt and it's only damage to the house/truck. Good luck with the repairs, did your parents haven insurance?
(For the prize I think I'd like the Old Cracked Photo, whenever you get the chance. And thank you for the giveaway!)
