lmao I love the percolator thank you! :*
we ain't gonna be talking about judy
Also, regarding Judy, I found it FASCINATING to re-read Jeffries's speech to Gordon and FBI co. :
"Oh. Do you have a Miss Judy staying here by any chance? Gordon? Is that you? Well, now, we're not gonna talk about Judy, in fact we're not gonna talk about Judy at all, we're gonna keep her out of it. Who do you think that is there? I sure as hell want to tell you everything, but I ain't got a whole lot to go on. But I will tell you one little bitty thing. Judy is positive about this."
First of all, why is he like Gordon is that you? He doesn't recognize Gordon but recognizes everyone else because...? You don't try not talking about someone by BRINGING them up. The entire thing is a paradox. Doesn't have a lot to go on? BULLCRAP, JEFFRIES. Again, a lie. And he's talked to Judy, right? He told evil Coop he's met her before. He met Sarah's mother? I mean sure he did, as regular Cooper and therefore by extension evil Cooper but idk it seems like Judy was a human, not a spirit in a human the way Jeffries was talking. Idk. I feel like Judy was meant to be a person when FWWM aired but they're retconning things and some things like this just don't gel well anymore. :l
Yep, she was rewatching Bushnell's match which made me think Bushnell had a big purpose to serve which he sort of did. But not really. Idk. Dougie storyline as a whole was underwhelming imo.
Good point, there's nothing to suggest the frog beetle thing was unique or one of a kind and well you wouldn't really need to track down a radio station for one girl, right? lol those woodsmen were something, I expected them to play a larger role in 17 / 18 but I guess their role is ecological recycling of supernatural beings? lol idk go green, save a BOB :'D
yes, Bob being just that ONE random egg that was SPECIAL was kind of like wtf
also how Laura had an orb in 1956 ish still makes no sense to me; the timing was hella off
it's like that white horse figurine was watching Carrie all along, SHE WASN'T ALONE dun dun dun
I understand we were shown a retcon of no body in s1ep1 when Cooper was rescuing Laura but it was my understanding that this was while Laura was being led to the lodge / red room and after she disappeared my assumption was she was still killed and nothing changed aka the erasing of her body was one big tease to show us the consequences of Cooper leading Laura away were he to be successful but he wasn't due to 1) Judy's influence 2) possibly Laura wanting to die as said by Bobby 3) time being like you can't do that because if it wasn't for her death you wouldn't be here in twin peaks so like you couldn't go back in time to rescue her if she was all a-okay or some crap like that which is doubtful given the way time seems to work in twin peaks
lmao I love that the 3 people with what seemed like the most HOPELESS story in s1/s2 were the happiest in s3 xD go Nadine, go golden shovels
I feel like the shovels were Lynch's message to us - go shovel your way out of this shitstorm of a season, good luck!!!!
lol Freddy, sorry but I cannot deal with the guy's existence in twin peaks and have no reply xD
I get Dale and Diane because of the tapes connection but I will not accept Dale and Diane romantically. Ever. I'd rather he be with Annie at this point. That's how much of a non-fan I am of Dale / Diane.
Dido was just in ep 8 from my understanding. D8 What a way to gloss over someone who seemed like a very important and integral part of the plot (like she made Laura?).
edit: also 'there is some fear in letting go' is SO true, I feel like I cannot let go of how this season ended, it's like on a loop in my head where I'm trying to make it FIT, it's infuriating lmao
SPOILER (click to toggle)
haha yeah the speech totally doesn't work with Judy not being a normal human being. "Miss Judy," now I'm thinking of the white thing wearing a little dress and being all sassy lol. I agree they're definitely retconning things. Especially with "well this negative force was originally Jowday but it got corrupted to Judy." Really? lol. But I guess when Jeffries told evil Coop he'd met her, he did mean Sarah.
Oh okay so that was Bushnell's match! Cool. I felt like he was a major force for good, like almost a White Lodge/Major Briggs/Gordon Cole level force for good... but yeah, ultimately underwhelming. I was also afraid he was going to die, so I'm glad he made it through okay.
I don't like Dale x Diane either. He acted like he'd been in love with her this whole time, so then what was the whole "omg I'm so in love with Annie" thing in S2? And why would he tell Diane via tape that he kept thinking about Audrey's smile? Also I got the feeling that Diane was really not into him that way, even before they crossed into the other timeline. When he told her to kiss him because things might be different, it was like she really didn't want to. I know she kissed him when she was first released from being trapped in Naido, but hell it was the first time she'd seen him (or anything) in 20 years, and it was the real him and not the awful fake, so she was probably overwhelmed with affection in general. I just don't think she felt that way about him.
And yeah, I went back and checked, and Dido is not in the theater in ep. 17. That's a shame. I loved the scene where she was listening to the record player, and the siren started going off. After the Fireman came in and shut it off and all, he kind of looked at her like, "What the hell, woman, couldn't YOU have turned it off? Do I have to do EVERYTHING around here? No it's fine, you just sit there and listen to your music, I'll go save the Earth from the evil monster. -sigh-" Then she wanders in like 15 minutes later and is all "oh how nice look at the shiny gold ball with the pretty girl good luck fighting the monster sweetheart!" She doesn't get too stressed out about much lol. ...heck maybe I've convinced myself to make her fan pet after all XD
lalala
negative force... is it electrons? is THIS where they get the concept of electricity from? electrons being negative (although current can be positive or negative)? :0
makes me think of OMD's song, electricity xD
Jowday got corrupted into .. a human being. :0 for shame Still not sure what evil Cooper hoped to get by visiting Judy? I mean if they were on the same side, you would think Judy would have helped him out more instead of him being tricked by Senor Droolcup
and funny enough, if you say Diane slow enough, you get die, Anne. :'D and Annie wasn't mentioned at all in s3!
yeah, Dale and Diane were more like really close friends akin to sibings, so to get them kissing etc was just ew NO
I felt like Cooper was more stoic and better than to demand things from Diane in that way, it was kind of nauseating tbh.
ugh it's kind of like they were freaking clueless, she seemed perfectly content like you said with everything going around her; la dee dahhhh now gonna send an orb to earth la dee daaah everything is fineeee
lol you should keep her then 8D
exec producer cool info on s3
also because I'm cray cray, Imma post some of what Sabrina Sutherland, exec producer of Twin Peaks said on reddit :
"This is definitely not the way to watch these parts." regarding syncing 17 and 18 together (praise the gods lmao)
said about final elements being put together before blu-ray release which will happen in future, yay
"David did keep writing on the show after Mark left to write his book. However, I am not here to say who wrote what. I know that all the big scenes David wrote separately were sent to Mark so he could see them before we shot them. Mark did not change anything." note the last line, Mark didn't change anything, no wonder it's so Lynchian, why Mark whyyyyyy I TRUSTED YOU
regarding s4 - "I do not know if that will ever happen. It's always a possibility, but maybe not a probability."
"My philosophy on theories is that they are all great and worthwhile. I look at this as a film, and I look at film as art. I believe art should be something the viewer interprets and discusses without the artist giving answers. It's something to be felt and enjoyed - and it should retain a mystery.
I don't know what their intentions were/are, but I believe, knowing David's other films and ideas, that he always wants to leave room for mystery and thought. He doesn't like to spoon fed answers. He likes people to think." there's spoon feeding and then making you find a sliver of food in a haystack thrown out somewhere on this effing planet, like come on, son
"This 2017 season, though, was run completely differently from the original. There was only one director. We shot this like a giant film. We shot everything before we edited everything before we mixed everything before we color-timed everything. It was a completely different process and completely different feeling. This was not tv in the usual sense."
"The most complicated scene to shoot was probably the Hutch/Chantal/Polish Accountant scene just because of all the moving parts over a course of time."
she stated she had a better grasp of what happened in s3 than "most viewers"
"Bowie did give us permission to use his clips in this season."
"Donna didn't work out this season, unfortunately." no shit, Sherlock lol
"I can only say that CBS Home Entertainment is cooking up something special for the Blu-ray/DVDs."
"And... I love that cooking video!!! Did you know that's where the frogmoth was born? No, not during the video, but during that 1960's trip David made to Europe. Pretty interesting!" apparently there's a quinoa youtube video we need to watch
regarding Lynch's scenes - "David does not do standard storyboards. He has everything in his head - how he wants to shoot - where he wants the camera. Basically he has what the scene will look like totally in his head. He will either explain verbally what he wants or, more often than not, he will draw the scene on anything handy as he's explaining it to whomever he needs to make understand his vision. I have notebooks full of these drawings. Now looking at them, I know what they mean, but someone else looking at them would have no idea what they mean. You have to have him in front of you drawing it and explains it at the same time. Make sense?"
regarding Annie - " The script we shot did not have Annie included. I did not approach her for this one, unfortunately."
"David was the lone approver of everything (and I mean everything, from every stitch of wardrobe to all cast members to all locations, etc. - he had total creative control)"
talk about takes - "David talks with the actors first and explains everything they need to know about the scene and what he wants. Then, he will have a rehearsal with just the actors (and a couple of key people) and talk more with them. After that, he will call in the rest of the crew for another rehearsal so camera, props, etc. can see where the camera will be and how things will happen in the scene. After that, the camera, grip, and lighting crews set up everything for the scene. The actors rest during this period and then come back when the camera is ready to shoot. I hope this gives you a brief understanding of what takes place."
regarding Lynch knowing the answers - " I know he knows exactly what he wants to see and hear. I assume he knows something."
regarding Annie's fate in the final dossier - "That's a Mark Frost question. David and I do not know." which means the book is strictly a Mark Frost thing!
BIG IMPORTANT STUFF HERE - "It's the monkey's voice - it is not Phillip Jeffries' voice. Jowday is correct. I have it confirmed that the captions for "I'm in the Black Lodge with Dale Cooper" should read it's Sarah Palmer's voice. (s2 finale, what Sarah tells Briggs which begs the question of whaaaaaaaaat Sarah said that? how do I not remember??)" so you're right about Jowday's spelling 8D YAY and Jeffries's did not whisper Judy, the MONKEY did :O
regarding Lynch and tshotp - "He has not read The Secret History of Twin Peaks."
regarding possibility of a film - "David has never said that he wouldn't."

omg thank yoooouuu will reply to your comment on my profile later, rn I'm watching bits of various s3 parts over.
SPOILER (click to toggle)
I'll look forward to getting the season 3 bluray set! (Hopefully as a holiday gift from mom lol.)
I don't think I want to see any cooking video with a frog-legged moth in it. UGH.
I think it's funny/weird that Mark does the books and David doesn't read them/has no input! Now I almost feel like they're non-canon, or at least that I can pick and choose what I want. Which is nice. Because I do NOT want Sam Stanley to be an alcoholic my poor innocent son. But I'm keeping my "Judy being here is Jack Parson's fault" plot point.
Glad to know that Jowday is Jowday for my pet's sake XD And I like that better than it being Chinese, just because it's cool that it's a nonsense word that had no meaning to our world, like Lovecraft's Cthulhu language. She's something totally alien to us.
and wtf the monkey talking monkeys argh. That is so creepy. And nonsensical.
I do wish they'd make a film, but it probably would only muddle things further. And knowing that about the books now, I feel like there isn't any answer to the questions, and there never will be... just like there never was any answer to what does Eraserhead mean. We're on our own :P Good for fanfic purposes. Bad for KNOWING. Sigh.
Now I'm off to go rewatch Sarah's early S3 scenes (Judy doesn't like turkey jerky apparently).
did you see this? i know you love this show ;p
I really have to update my blog ObscureJourney and my review site BeingObscure. French speakers can read my reviews here.
here there be spoilers
ditto but with the dvd because I don't have a device for blu-rays ;___; unless it works with laptops? /tech unsavvy orz
I watched it in all its near 20 minute gloriousness, it doesn't have frog moths physically in it except for a mention. I did a google on them and there's no trace of them existing. Something maybe vaguely similar may exist in Malaysia but nowhere near former Yugoslavia where Lynch saw them. (he be tripping? idk xD) the frog legged beetles don't look like the frog moth that much either dun dun dun
ikr I find it a bit weird like Mark works with David on the film technically but David is like MEH IDC ABOUT YOUR BOOKS. It's kind of a one-sided collab which makes me feel sad. :C I expect the dossier to answer nothing except give us an illusion Audrey's okay. Like that's even canon. /sigh
Yeah, I like your sympathetic view of Judy. C: Gonna be my head canon unless something groundbreaking comes along.
I'm pretty sure Eraserhead is how I feel about children lmao. :P
Because the jerky is frog moths, idk I have nothing.
