Any Canadian school would have to be created with respect to the terrible history of residential schools, for instance.
HELL TO THE NO! My God! There is a time and place for everything and this cult is not the place for that blight on our country's history. I know a man, one of the nicest you could ever meet, who went to one of those residential schools more than 60 years ago. Talking about it today still makes his knees buckle. I went to boarding school for my 4 years of high school and where I went was a lot different from where our friend went. There are differences. Another thing, if we include one country we'd have to include them all and that would mean any German school would have to reference their atrocities in World War II. There's just no place for any of that horror in this cult.

I think you misunderstand me. When I say 'with respect to', I mean these things should be implemented such a way that AVOIDS causing harm. And I do think that any country would have to be sensitive to their past mistakes as they relate to this topic, although I confess I don't know enough to see how WW2 would figure into it. In the case of Canada, I am no expert, but I would not want a boarding school founded in the 1840s-1970s.

It could be my personal bias as a resident, but I think a modern school around Vancouver would be interesting. Maybe a bit further north to keep distance from muggles. That, or something which takes into account the smaller population spread out over a wider area - several small schools, traditions of community-based teaching, etc.

Here is my brief description of the wizarding school in my Island. lol

El Yunke - Escuela de Hechizería del Caribe (El Yunke - Caribbean School of Wizardry)

The school is located in Puerto Rico under the mountain of El Yunke Rainforest, it accepts students from the Caribbean islands as well as countries near the Caribbean Sea (mostly Latin American). Courses are offered in Spanish Language, but some courses are offered in English for first years students of different languages.

The school is small and can have up to 600 students at once but the normal average is 500 to 550 students. They accept students from age 10 to 18 and are placed in three different houses based on their age. Each student must study for seven to eight years, those that stay for eight years either want to take advanced courses or need to improve on a specific skill. Eight year students would only focus on one or a maximum of two courses and are allowed to stay outside the school if desired.

To arrive to El Yunke most students arrive to the Island by boat and are moved to the inside of the mountain through a secret passages behind very large rocks, once inside the underground tunnels they are moved to the school in carts pulled by giant nutrias.

The three houses are divided as follows:

Aprendices (Apprentice) – from ages 10 to 12 Intermedia (Intermediate) – from ages 13 to 15 Avanzado (Advanced) – from ages 16 to 18

They developed this system after failing using a similar method than Hogwarts since it developed a lot of hatred between houses, so now they wouldn't compete against each house but will work on personal development which has worked better for the school.

The school was established fairly recently in the 1950 by Dionisio Caro Baroja and Epifanio García Torres since witchcraft was practiced all over the Caribbean without having a proper education. After its establishment it took several years for the neighboring islands to send students and still today is not among the top wizardry schools but it has slowly proven to be a good school and choice for those wizards and witches close to the area.

as I have had little time to get online and only on my phone I shall keep this short. These are based on my imagination and highly inaccurate history knowledge. Will edit later if needed for more... apologies for grammar and spelling mistakes ^_^

In ancient times on the African continent many magical communities educated their own children. Few of them grew large enough to have been properly labeled as schools. Uagadou is commonly thought off as the oldest school in Africa located in Uganda. However one temple complex in Alexandria functions as an educational facility. The complex was dedicated to the goddess Isis and the god Thoth. Students lived at the complex generally separated by gender. Females learned under Isis and males under Thoth. The name of the complex roughly translates to 'finding wisdom in magic'. The temples knowledge was collected and preserved in the Alexandria library. The Seba was their primary collective symbol embroided on their clothing. A secondary symbol reflective of their accomplishments was sewn alongside until one completed their education. In particular Divination and Charms (placed on a talisman of sorts) are subjects the school excels in. Muggles might have come too close at times to the secrets kept within the temples. The fire in the Alexandrian library was a ruse to keep them away. Most knowledge kept is now somewhat exclusive to the Egyptian educational system.

If you'd travel east you could stumble upon a travelling group of Arabic scholars. The group followed the silk route and connected western magic to the far far east. In a time where travel by broom was very rare and the floo network was still only for local use this gave an oppertunity for collecting and sharing far more knowledge among wizards and witches. The travelling group had magic on their side and used it to protect the group and make the hourney easy. Occasionally they would pause in small villages and settlements for lectures for larger group. In the group itself only 2 dozen students were allowed to come and learn on the go. Astrology and arithmancy are generally focused on however due to te extensive contact elsewhere the lucky few would learn far far more. About 3 centuries ago the traditional travelling school settled down into a large school in Teheran. Many more students are now staying in the school. Students show their proficiency in a chosen subject through a coloured shoulder decoration on their dark robes. They are made of a light linnen which covers the body almost entirely without being too hot during the day and warm enough for the cold nights.

These are the first and second.. might add more..

Edit:

L'acedemie de Beauxbâtons was founded in the early 1300s in the French Pyrenees. Initially the French wizard families send their children to study. Soon enough the school began accepting pure blooded students from neighbouring Spain. Due to the complexities (changing alliances, royal families, lots of conflict) in Western European governing the school found itself opening its doors to many more. Nowadays Beauxbâtons accepts students from Holland, Belgium, France, Portugal and Spain. Students from West Germany, Switzerland and Northern Italy tend to apply as well. Thus in recent years a trilingual system has been adopted. Lessons are offered in French, Dutch and Spanish in contrast to the traditional French only. Many students choose to learn one or more language on the side as well. The boarding school resembles a large French palace. The buildings surround a large courtyard. The lawn and gravel paths mimicking the needle on a compass. The upper floors are usually reserved for student accommodation. On the lower floors auditoriums and smaller classrooms can be found. In the Northern Wing one can find the extensive library, pleasantly cool in summer and cozy in winter. Near the library lessons in charms, history of magic and a large number of language studies take place. In the Eastern Wing students gather for food and most core classes. The Western Wing is dedicated to the arts and as such boasts of excellent acoustics in the music hall and a grand ballroom with 5 large chandeliers and mirrored walls. Somewhere within the wing muggle studies are hidden away as well. Lastly the South Wing stands separate from the main structure. Here in the relative calm you can find the infirmary, and lessons for potions, health and herbology, and theory of magizoology. Outside in the vast gardens and school grounds the beauty you may expect is carefully maintained. They can truly rival the gardens and Versailles itself. Students at Beauxbâtons have to adapt and work with people from varying backgrounds. Many learn to manage and some excel in the international magical world. Alumni can find their place in the world almost anywhere they like.
