So I hoard map pieces that I get from REs. Then I turn them in. I turned in 3 and was missing one piece so I bought it. But honestly, none of the prizes were worth it. It's more profitable to sell the map, but who's going to buy the map when the prizes just arent that great?
So yeah - rebalance the prizes or the SP given because right now amazing art, fun feature, but kinda useless when you don't get anything worth it at all from it.

Totally agree. :( Hopefully there will be some changes made. Something, anything... please?
It probably doesn't help that one of the pieces is significantly more expensive than the others, since it's used to make the Treasurefly (which in turn is used to make even more Genetech combos).
It might be hard to really make it worth it just with an sP amount. But maybe it could be changed to also give a chance at a rare item, or a random Freyalise item.
Perhaps the maps could have a chance at Subeautique or Antique Shop items. More SP would contribute to inflation though.

No Support. laughs evil laugh Gosh, folks who have a hold of map pieces are charging what they can get.
No, we're not going to give out antique items. You can get currently restocking SBQ items from it though. I'm not going to give out the actual range of rarities it pulls from, but it does grab some r90ish things.
Once we're out of holiday season, I have on my list of content-y things to get a few like exclusive items that would be just from the treasure maps. There's no way that'll get done until we're into summer, though!
Maybe adding the retired non-seasonal items to the treasure maps could be nice? (so no holiday shop - but yes to the rest)
Things like the old wearables/shoes/accessories, old Subetabucks items, retired Arctic Frost shop items and the likes.
Well, they wouldn't be SBQ items because those go out via GoFP. But I like the idea of the other retired stuff, like clothing rack/arctic frost!
Yeah, I meant Clothing Rack/Accessory Bin/Sole Train, not SBQ. I FORGOT SBQ WAS RESTOCKABLE OK
I did mention the old Subetabucks items, though. Ye good olde Get Mugged ancestor items.
I personally like the idea of treasure map exclusive items instead of old whatever ones; I really don't need the 600th copy of an ancient SBQ stocking...
Like I said, it wouldn't be a SBQ item ;)
And some retired items have gone up in value like hardcore, especially shops that we had you donate from during the Plot last year (icy goods, etc). And 's mention of get mugged is also very appropriate because some of those items are like UB haha
No. :P Achievement prizes are generally just that, achievement prizes. Ariel and I have brought back a few books via crystal shop but that's it. Still brainstorming how to get achievement items out from battling (while staying with battling). :)
would it be possible to add achievements for turning in maps or increase the number if they are there as well? That might make it more worth it too :)

I most definitely read your post. Your solution is not a solution to the problem and cannot ever be.
A year ago there was a post just like yours, and went out of her way to make them worthwhile at the price that they were selling at the time. Now that they are worth more, more people are turning them in. Since more people are turning them in, and since you can't restock them, the supply of them is drying up. Since the supply of them drying up, now people who do encounter them can and do charge more, because why not get what you can for selling them?
Each and every time someone makes a thread like this in Suggestions that the value of the prize should go up 'to make it worth it' will always fail, because the free market of Subeta will always catch up. If the reward is 100K now but the pieces cost 111K and increases the reward to 120K, in short order the pieces will end up costing more than that very soon.
The solution to the 'price being to high for the reward' is twofold: don't pay too much for them compared to what they yield, and drop more pieces so that those who are lucky enough to find a piece will be willing to sell it to you for a price you like.
You may think your own laugh sounds evil, but it sounds like someone who doesn't understand irrational exuberance in a toy capitalist economy to me.
Even if I find all 9 pieces and turn them in, its not worth it. And they were FREE.

the statement you just made needs to be unpacked. IF you get anything at all from those pieces, then you now have something you didn't have before. You have in fact won something of value and since random events are random because they're random events, any win at all is good.
What you mean is, they were not worth it COMPARED TO the cost of selling them and then buying the prize with the sP you have exchanged for them. The reason why they are worth this much is because other users think those pieces are worth sP to them more than you do. You nor anyone else in this site should force anyone to act in such a stupid way as to sell pieces to you or them at a cost less than what they can get for them.
There's no reason or incentive to complete a map besides the Blue Building requirements and getting the achievement - both of which you knock off your list for completing just one map. The prize pool isn't interesting. You don't even have to bother with the map, you can easily restock all of the current items you can get from it, and profit from restocking them too.
So... Yeah. Having a low % chance to get one or more overpriced, retired main shop items via treasure map loot seems like a good idea! The sP reward is miserable. Remove it and replace it with a random holiday currency, maybe? Vesnali coins, New Year tokens, Steamwork/Lounge trinkets, etc. Wiz Tokens would be okay too. Having a few new treasure map-specific loot drops would help spice things up too. Guaranteed to get at least 1 per map. Pirate-y things, old civilization relics with lore bites in the description, possibly minions attracted to the loot, whathaveyou. TC fodder options galore. [sub]Treasurefly would have been perfect for this, justsayin'.[/sub] More achievement tiers would also help motivate the achievement hoarders among us. Hitch it up to 10, or 20, stick a title onto the top tier.
Better rewards for completing the map = more demand for the map = you being more likely to sell said map in a whole set. I don't see why anyone wouldn't want this?
And the current map reward?

tl;dr - map rewards are a bit shit after 12 years, nobody has much of a reason to complete a map after they get into the Blue Building. Freshening it up a bit is a good idea!
