Contest 1: Outfit Not Found I tried to work with the "gothy" stereotype associated with ravens.
Contest 2: I recently started volunteering with shelter cats. One of the sweetest kitties there recently got adopted - but the dastardly rascal snuck out of a half-opened door after four days at his new home! He went missing for over a week and his adoptive home was worried sick, especially the younger kids. All of us volunteers were worried that he'd gotten eaten since our area is prone to coyote, wildcat, and bear sightings. Luckily, he turned up this morning in one of the humane traps!
- Just thought I'd give this a try :D

- I recently lost my grandmother to cancer, its been about 7 months now and both my mom and I discovered that we still mourn her passing. It gets better day by day but still, we miss her. Today I went out to check my dad's new herb garden when I discovered a young gardenia plant just starting to sprout. The weird part is that it's growing right under my grandmother's bedroom window. She loved gardenias!! No one in our family planted it there so we're at a loss as to how it got there. My husband figured it was a bird's doing but I didn't think birds ate gardenias lol! And the best part? We found a new litter of kittens under the small plant (just two) that we are going to add to our family. The mother cat is a friendly stray that refuses to be caught so she just hangs around our house to get fed. And to give birth apparently. But who can resist kittens?
What a sweet contest.
Contest 1 - My entry is inspired by my favorite Subeta bird species: the snooburb!

Entry for Contest My happy and (somewhat surprising) memory is when a big fat squirrel in Hyde Park, London climbed up my leg to sit at my waist when it heard a whistle from my mom LOL. It's a wild squirrel and I could feel its tiny claws while it's climbing it's way up.
I understand it's hoping for food why me when I didn't make a sound? XD

Story: Okay so my friends mom had this junker car. She was on her way somewhere with us all.her buffer had fallen off on the way to come get us so she shoved it in the trunk. Well a cop pulled us over and told her she had no muffler. She was like yes I do. He said no you don't ma'am. She replied with yes I do. The cop asks her to get out and heads to the back he gets down on his hands and knees to look under the car, to observe she didn't have an attached muffler. He got up and replied no you do not maam. My friends mom opens the trunk pointing at it and replied. Yes I do have a muffler. The cop stood there for a good half a minuet dumbstruck as we started dying of laughter. The cop started to laugh shaking his head, he told her to bd on our way as he headed back to his car laughing.

hiii!! 8D do we need to link you to a particular bird, or can we make a "birdy" HA without using a bird ref?

Nope, no links required, and you don't even have to dress up as a bird - just anything that would fit the theme (could do HA with bird minion, a background scene with a bird in it, etc.) or just use elements, like wings, feathers, tail, talons - whatevs your interpretation is :)
here goes!! /flaps wings
hm, I have the perfect memory to share for this. it happened last year, around July. I live really far from home because of university, it's a 16 hour long bus trip. so it was finally winter break and I was like AYYYYYY BYE UNI HELLO HOME and I made all the preparations like bought the bus tickets, packed my bags etc. since I have shit luck my bus arrived way late than it was supposed to and I have to get two buses to go home. that's a time sensitive plan and since the first one was late, I ended up missing the second one. I had no choice but to wait for the next bus at the stop. I chose an empty sit but like after a few minutes, this lady, around her sixties, sat next to me and she started a conversation shortly after. her name was Cecilia, she was beyond sweet and gentle, and while we were talking, she asked me where I was going so I said I was going home to see my family and enjoy the break from uni. she told me her kids were also uni students and one of then was going to graduate soon. they also lived far from her and she was on her way to visit one of them. v we spent a good chunk of time talking to each other but then my bus arrived and I stood up to tell her goodbye. but before I leave, she gave me a chocolate box and a pack of salty treats. you have no idea how much that made me emotional because that's something my mother would do. sometimes I miss her so much it's hard to stand it. that lady had just met me and we were probably never going to cross paths again, but she cared for me, even if for a short moment. it's kinda hard for me to hide my feelings, so I huggeddd her and waved a goodbye, then left.
idk that was long but it's a really dear memory to me. ;u;

I'm back with a short but heart-warming memory for you... (for contest 2)
I have a little sister, like really little! She's currently just 7 years old. (I'm 22, for comparison.) Anyway, when she was a bit younger, like maybe 5 years old, she was coloring in her coloring book one day. And she got sad because she accidentally colored a cloud brown. But I told her, "It's okay, it can be a chocolate cloud that rains chocolate milk!" and she was happy again.
Idk why that always makes me smile, but it does. :)

My grandmother suffered from alzheimers and dementia for several years before passing away in 2011. This woman was my world when I was a child because she spoiled me silly and it broke my heart when she was no longer able to remember who I was during most visits. Despite the fact that she would sometimes recoil when I visited, I always made sure to stop by weekly at her nursing home and read to her and show her pictures of her sons and my younger cousins. She rarely, if ever spoke, and only to really say things like "mmm hmm" or "no."
My memory that I want to write about is bittersweet in light of this, but to this day it is one of the most precious memories I have. When my now-husband and I got engaged back in 2008, I wanted to tell my grandmother that I was getting married, even if it really meant nothing to her. I went to her nursing home and found I had come to visit at not the best time - she was getting her hair curled at the in-house salon. I didn't know when I'd next get to speak to her (she was always often asleep when I visited) so I decided to sit next to her and tell her then.
She looked at me for the first time in years with a sad, soft smile and said, "I am so happy for you. Marriage is a wonderful thing." I could barely hold myself together. I gave her a kiss, told her thank you, smiled at her hairdresser, got out to my car and broke down into happy tears. It was the last time she ever really spoke to me.
This weekend I'll choose winners and send out prizes. Thank you guys for participating, I hope it was fun <3 Here's a new recolour of the Valley Girl Knot just in time for the weekend!
