It can be frustrating but I don't necessary want it change either. It looks like I have the least amount of posts here so far but, I'm still able to get want I want over time (I don't consider myself all that lucky either). It helps that things don't leave very often.
It might just be me but I also find it super rewarding to finally get what I want out of the Forum Shop.
I&;d prefer that everyone have a decent, equal shot at being able to buy the items they want via their own site experience
They do, everything is fair and equal, but everyone doesn't post the same amount. That ultimately decides how many points a person has. But...not necessarily? Since it's luck-based, someone could get 15 points on 100 posts, but someone else could have to post 500 times to see that many. There's no guarantee of seeing any, which is what I don't like.
But posting isn't something that's going to go away. That person who got 15 points in 100 posts may only get 3 in the next 400 posts. It eventually averages out. It's not inherently unfair though. They are supposed to be rare and based on chance. The items won't be retired any time soon too, so I don't see what the problem is.
Again, there's no way to be certain that things "average out" with chance-based mechanics. Some people (admittedly, a very small group) can be perpetually lucky or perpetually unlucky. It's dumb.
And I'm glad that there are no plans to retire the items, but it still sucks to (for instance) save your forum points for two years, still not have enough for something you really want, and then have to shell out a huge amount of sP to make up the difference. As I've said many times before, Subeta is supposed to be a game. It's supposed to be fun. And stuff like this tends to detract from enjoyment for a lot of people.
but do we need things to average out? I don't see what the problem is. It's not like there are people who post a lot that don't get a lot of forum points. If there's something someone really wants from the forum shop, they should either post more often to get the points or pay.
The same argument can be made for subeautique invites too but I never see it made. Those are only from buying or from random events. Crypts treasure points are completely based on RNG. Both of those are much harder to get than forum points, where you pretty much have a limitless opportunity to get them if you make the effort to post.
Not to mention prizes from the forum shop have been given out in the free shop too. It's really not unfair at all to anyone. If your luck isn't that good, well maybe you have to post more than someone with better luck, but that's all it is - luck. Nothing needs to be changed, it's not targeting anyone, it's not unfair.
^^
I agree. I see no problem. The prizes stay there for SUCH a long time, prices drop reasonably low from time to time, also, I find that some days are better raffle ticket days than other. I dont think its unfair, just get out there and post a few times whenever you are on. Posting once a day, most likely wont help anyones chances :p I, personally, make sure to play games and get chatting in chat groups, at LEAST, 25 times a day or more. You dont even have to put much effort in the user run games. Its something so simple that can help SO much.

it's supposed to be a challenge to be able to get everything you want, though. No game is fun when everything is easily available. sP isn't exactly hard to make, so "shelling out some sP" for something isn't asking for a lot if you don't want to try your hand at the actual way to earn the currency.
I might be weird but I like them being utterly random. Because when I get one I'm always really excited that I got lucky :D I really don't want to see them go out at a certain amount of posts because some people feel unlucky :(

I got annoyed because, during Masquerade, I made a similar number of posts in the dance forums every day. Not getting any forum points after the first two days made me think there was something a bit odd going on.
I shall now carry on posting in the games topics and hope I have better luck during Vesnali.
I do not agree that it's dumb for a game like Subeta to have a lot of chance-based mechanisms. I also don't think you're in the majority when you say it isn't fun - I personally love playing games like Mind Reader and Slots just for the thrill of seeing what I get or how far I get (people enjoy gambling for a reason) and I'm glad certain events like Tempest are random and rare because it can completely make my day when I do get such an event.
I understand feeling frustrated when it seems like you're just unluckier than everyone else. But there is nothing rigged against you, and to say that a game shouldn't have chance components because some people are unlucky is like saying staff should get rid of the potion lottery because some people enter every day and never win.
I would suggest looking at random events from a positive instead of negative point of view. Think about what the gameplay would be like if there were no random events, no randomness to anything. You get EXACTLY what you expect - every 5 quests gets you a quest point, but every other thing on the site works the same way. There wouldn't be much excitement left, in my opinion - it would be like my job, I work X hours and get paid Y dollars. There wouldn't be people jumping for joy over tempest giving them a rare item, or getting something expensive from a daily.
There's a lot of parts of the site that allow you to earn a steady, predictable income. Quests are a great example actually. Even if you get unlucky, you're still guaranteed a decent profit, and at the very least you will definitely have those quest points (and tokens from the wiz!) to sell off. Also, the events/holidays give out currencies so generously and they sell so quickly too! So my opinion is that there is a good balance right now between chance and non-chance ways to progress in this game.

I did my usual number of posts today and got 2 forum points so it really is 100% random. I feel better now knowing that there's nothing odd about my account.
I'm just very uncomfortable with the idea that there's a site currency that can't be guaranteed even if you do the activity that's required for it, and/or that some people are getting more of it than others, but not necessarily because they genuinely participate more.
But that's the thing, , there are multiple ways of getting forum points. You can get them from user shops or bathhouse if you don't post. The only site currency that I can think of that ONLY goes out one way is bathhouse points!
Ah, I did forget about the Bathhouse, my apologies. (That thing is an amazing site feature, btw.)
The bathhouse is lovely for those that remember (aka not me hahahhaha I HAVE NOT GOTTEN PAST LIKE 20 DAY STREAK WHOOPS)
lol, I was terrible at remembering until I joined the ping group that reminds you every day. I seriously recommend it.
I personally think it's okay that way. I know it probably doesn't make much of a difference (or does it?) but the forums have been more dead than alive for years now and if kinda rare forum points can bring a couple of people to post more then I am happy with that.
I just want more traffic on the forums again ;o;

^Oh. Didn't check that for months.
Seriously, I love forum points just the way they are.
Mostly because I forget they exist, so when one happens it's like "OMG LOOK AT THIS AWESOME AND AMAZING THING!" -immediately forget it exists-
this, so much ;O;
I wanna post around more but forums are kinda dead. D: There's not much going on.
I'd also wish some forums were disabled for forum points if only it meant forcing more interaction (like no points on site event or user run games forum) but I realize I'm saying the very unpopular opinion here. Not saying those forums don't create user interaction... it's just a whole lot easier to post in forum games and on site event threads than engage in other forums.
Also, I have 38 points rotting away. Please add more things at like 50 points. :P :P
Since making this topic I've had a forum point every couple of days. This is a big improvement on not getting one for over two weeks.
I'm guessing that a lot of people prefer Facebook, Twitter or a forum dedicated to something they are particularly interested in. There used to be a debate forum but that was closed some years back because not many users bothered with it.
Some people are very shy and anxious when it comes to posting in the forums. Site event threads and user run games give them a chance to get forum points because they can't cope with getting involved in discussions.
