Not really a whole lot i can add here, other than thank you for working on it and (at the very least attempting to) keeping everyone as informed as possible. Hopefully things get better. :)
is it possible to remove that error u get when you wait to long to dance with someone? i remember not having this problem during the zombie event and thought it would have been applied to this event as well. i end up dancing with one user multiple times because i don't know if i got them or not. :(
php/cron problems on top of a big event, so glad to know that , and the rest of the A team (all of Subeta staff) are working on the issues. And and have been doing a great job of keeping us informed. I have seen their posts in multiple threads, and, of course, there was the news as well. Thanks to all of you.
Just a note for those worried about dancing errors. I am finding that clicking a link (like ) rather than the button on the HA's works better for me because then I can put it in a new tab and conveniently refresh if need be. So, at least until things stabilize you might want to consider adding that either to your posts or your signature. Makes it much easier to find out if I have properly invited someone as well as my current wait time.
Hope that is useful.
Wishing everyone a very Happy Masquerade.
I was on when the site kept erroring out with 504s earlier and sent out a bunch of invites that people either didn't get, or accepted and I got no notification or trinkets for them. That's awesome.
Right now (11:47 Amsterdam) things are working great.
I can accept the dances. I can invite dances. No lag what's however, eventhough I am now on a slower computer then yesterday evening my time. Thus I'm wondering when it's evening at my part of the globe, if the problems happen again. I keep in mind that the site can be a bit slower since many many MANY people will be on because of the dances. No problems with a bit slower. But there is a difference between a bit slower and loading error :D
Long time member so I know Subeta staff will do their best to solve the problem as fast as possible.
Welp, I can`t ask or accept dances anymore. The subeta.net page isn’t working
subeta.net is currently unable to handle this request. HTTP ERROR 500
I get this error, but ONLY on pages regarding dancing.
I'm so disappointed with Masq this year I've pretty much already given up. Dance links expire too fast, the forums aren't working (posts/usernames keep disappearing), lag, errors... its just not worth it. Its not fun.
Wasn't there a link to dance with a random friend last year? Or was that from a different holiday? Either way, I really wish we had that. It would be a lot easier to manage.
Usernames aren't supposed to pop up on the forums or when you first dance with a person. It's a masquerade.
We've had random links for trick or treating, I don't know if we had a random dancer. I can look into that though! I'm working on the lag. I've spun up extra servers in the past few hours because of the free shop and I've been making sure everything is synced so no one gets the 'not wearing a mask' error again (when spinning up the new servers, they're a few pulls behind of recent changes we've made).
I've had massive lag and errors in the last few hours, but everything seems to have settled and running fine for now. touches (el)wood
- that's exactly what I thought when I logged on this morning. The free shop always seems to make the site lag more than usual. I guess we'll have to wait and see but yea..seems a strange decision to me.
Still, at the moment I can dance, so I guess that's something xD
Not yet this year, no. But if I recall correctly, last year I only had him once or twice on the last few days of the event, even though I danced a lot, so the event isn't all that common.
Thanks! I got him twice during the first day and I haven't seen him since, so I was wondering if it was a bug or just bad luck.

I normally adore the staff here because chill people, but... was the free shop really absolutely necessary with all the errors still ongoing? I know it's a work in progress but yikes, the lag.

I am missing many of my dances because the take FOREVER to load and then I get a damn error in the end and I don't know which dance I accepted and which one I missed. This is horrible.
The severs were handing them fine last night when I put up enough. This is the first time I spun them up before (Keith showed me how manually), so I didn’t put quite enough. That’s why there were some isseus. Over night the scaled back down too because less people were online.
And to be honest, the free shop code wasn’t helping things originally. I had to edit how the shop stocks because it was putting in thousands of items by like the third restock. I’m surprised more people didn’t complain from the lag of it on the actual page during Luminaire, either! I’ve fixed this to where it deletes the previous items after every restock (so it never gets a thousands items just chilling’ in there), so the page should freeze up for people anymore. :)
I'll share the 'unpopular idea' of the free shop slowing things down, and preferred it to be open AFTER Masq, rather than during it. :/ in any case, i appreciate and thank the staff for the nice free shinnies from there.
[i'm butt-hurt because i's expect the staff to already know this would happen during any subeta event, and having the extra servers already spinning before the event started.. and i honestly barely remember a Masq being as buggy as this one. ]

The problem is, the issues/etc is not because of the holiday. At all. There is something wrong with our alert system (which is why people were getting 504s on various things) like we're having issues on the backend accepting CWs, items, etc. We're doing what we can to figure out what is going on (which is why you guys might've noticed the DDoS protection thing go up yesterday).
Also like I said, servers scale down when fewer users are on because they work on balancing the load and if there are only like 400 users on of activity it's silly to have 10 servers running. I, unfortunately, wasn't on earlier to spin up more this morning, but I'm working on it now while Grace tries to figure out the other issues!
And then the site crashed, lol. I had a couple of minutes of white pages, with only "SQL Error connection" on them.
But I appreciate the honesty! At least this way you found something else to reduce the lag, so that's good!
hey, i'm sorry. like i said, i'm butt-hurt and frustrated. :(
i'm burning incense so you guys can figure it out.
