Sorry, but it's a hard no to extra space. It's not about how much people want it, it's about what is feasible in terms of what the machines can handle. The autopricer is a huge reason why this isn't possible right now.
Everything else mentioned can (and likely will) be implemented when I get around to working on shops/galleries.
Someone mentioned the vault in this thread, it's a little off topic but let me just hint that I've got something in the works for that. ;)

I know this topic is old but I think you can tell I'm still lurking and checking things off this list :D
You can remove an item from a gallery in a single click from the Account Search page, so maybe this suggestion is no longer as necessary?
Finally, the standard way to remove items is from the edit items page. If this is slow loading to the point where people hate using it, then I think that's what should be addressed, rather than coding another way to do it.

What would the UI look like for showing/sorting by prices in galleries? For shops, it's pretty easy since each item has a price, so all of the price stuff is just in the price column. But galleries don't have a price column because the items don't need to get priced. I think adding such a column is a bad idea as well because item worth isn't really what galleries are about :/
Also, to clarify, I am only talking about the new shops/galleries. I don't know about the legacy ones and I think problems/suggestions relating to legacy shops (and making the transition from them easier) belong in their own topic.
