Well i had a busy afternoon, unexspected... Into town with mom to buy some fabric, she is making me a dress, and some new clothes. At home i decided i wanted to see a movie (tomb raider), called a friend and with in 20 minutes we picked out a movie, made reservations and went for dinner. So much fun!

So many interesting holidays! We had ANZAC Day a few weeks ago here in Australia...and if I'm not mistaken, I don't think we have anything coming up until the Queen's Birthday, which isn't until June
yes there are. I never hear of an anzac day before.
For now we don't have any special holidays. Not until Sinterklaas and christmas in december.
It's pretty much our Veterans' Day. It's to honour the soldiers that landed on Gallipoli for the First World War, as well as all armed forces. ANZAC stands for Australian New Zealand Army Corp. There's dawn services around the country, parades...and then people play the game Two Up, which is some kind of gambling game soldiers used to play...
If you want a better explanation, here you go: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anzac_Day
And wait, so I just googled 'Sinterklaas' and there's a special day for him, and Christmas? So...do you do presents on both days?
i looked it up. We have a Veterans' Day here to on june 30th.
Yep on both days we (childeren) get gifts. Most people celebrate both to, in my family we just do one of them. Sinterklaas is on december 5th :)

It's so cool the way holidays are celebrated around the world...
The ABC (Australian Broadcasting Channel...it also shows things from the BBC) channel showed something a few years ago...can't remember if it was made by them or the BBC...or someone else, but it was Christmas around the world (they showed it on Christmas eve) Sinterklaas was talked about, and they showed some of activities happening
There was one place where, there's a parade, and Santa (or whoever brings gifts) gets into the house by a ladder, and people wait by their windows to welcome him
In one country..Egypt maybe, it's actually The Three Wise Men that come a deliver the gifts to the childre
Ohh, well nice to see you saw that. But sinterklaas does not use a ladder. His helpers go trough the chimney to deliver gifts (much like santa) at night. During the day/evening he can come to your home but then he rings the bell, his helpers trow candy in the home and after a sit down & a talk people get gifts.
It was somewhere else then....I'm going to have to see if I can find out where it happens
There's Day of the Three Kings in Mexico! January 6th, IIRC! The way my dad once explained it, you get to open a present or two on Christmas Eve after dinner & Mass, then the rest of the presents on January 6th.
Of course, his family moved to the States a few months before his fifth birthday, and they stopped celebrating January 6th when they did. Now our Christmas is simply Christmas Eve.
