No sane Ravenclaw would get that close to the Whomping Willow, even in winter. is an eccentric one. That artifact-level veil that she found through hours and hours of afterschool study and puzzle solving may work on humans and house-elves. It hasn't quite occurred to her yet the tree might be smarter and doesn't really 'see' see.
