Hey ~!
I am having some real indecision problems here. Short hair vs ponytail? I'm feeling like I need something in the arms/back/waist area, but I don't want a belt?? Shoes??? 😱 ????

Feel free to steal these hair combos, because, damn. 😍

i'm really feeling no. 2/4!! have your tried layering donna flats on top and mariachi ankle boots layered behind base??
I prefer ponytail as the Sweetheart Hair Kit makes everything look really heavy and the double bangs make no sense. Your outfit looks already heavy enough so I would break that up a bit, with the pony.
How it looks with the mentioned combo

Otherwise, really awesome layering, I like this look a lot :)
I agree with and above about the shoes. (Also, I had no idea that layering was a thing. It gives those flats just a little something extra. So nice!)
I vote for less hair. I even liked it with only the Deja hair.
Two additional suggestions: Instead of the Ruffled Grey Bolero, try either the Grimdark Lady Shrug or the Homemade Black Lace Collar.
Instead of the muscled leg stuff, layer the Vanity Cocoa Stockings on top of the Professor New hosiery.
Both of those changes just darken those areas up a bit and make the whole thing a bit more tonally consistent. Otherwise this is a lovely start!
Yeah I agree with the gals about making it a little less heavy. I'd be tempted to take off the sleeves and bolero, too, because I think lace can really easily overwhelm an avatar and you're already working with such dark colours. I always seem to start with those sleeves and take them off before I'm finished because I'm so much happier when it's less cluttered. So frustrating!
Haha I love that you didn't know about the combo! Passing the Donna Mariachis on to a whole new generation. They were IT during the 2009 - 2011 heydays where every other av was using them but I totally still love them together.
Ahaha, I was surprised as well x) This combo has been so overdone for almost 10 years now, it feels like a guilty pleasure using it now.
The Mariachi Boots are actually great with a lot of shoes, especially flats as they give a nice little heel. It's even a lot easier now since you can just put them under the base. Not too long ago we had to layer tights and pants to make the shoe part disappear lol
Haha, I was clearly living under a rock then! I knew the mariachi boots were hot, but somehow I never picked up on that trick. My layering-fu was clearly weak.
EDIT
Here is what I've decided to go with! Thank you for the help!
old post
So much feedback, thank you~! ♥
I tried some different shoe options last night before I got to your suggestions. These are very high boots and your shoe suggestions were for more leg, so y'all probably won't like these. I also thought these might look better without the headpiece, but I didn't have time to look for something else.

As you can see, I did end up taking off the sleeves, . 😆
After reading all your feedback I've played with it a bit more. I used the Grimdark Lady Shrug like suggested, added 's accessories, and made it lighter overall. Oh, and the shurg was too dark so I had to remove the pony.

Here's one with the Vanity Cocoa Stockings instead of the Professor New Hosiery (with and without the muscle tonic). She looks like a satyr and I'm kinda about it~

I didn't know about the flats + mariachi boots combo, so thanks ~! I'm probably not going to use it very often since I usually cover up my HA's ankles. I don't like how they look (also I love boots). shrug
I like how the original (minus the sleeves) with that shoe combo looks though~
Is it okay to ask for advice for the Stimulate challenge? I've more or less completed my HA entry but I'm having trouble with the mouth.

Mouths are one of my favorite face items, so let's see what I can help you with ^^
[edit] I didn't realize you already posted your entry orz I really like this one, and the expression is lovely especially the mouth layering is impressive!
Hi ! (Also, I love your name, in no small part because of "See Who Adored This Style" :D) Thank you for stepping up, and I'd still appreciate your advice even though I already went ahead and submitted to the Stimulate thread. Private Outfit I'd been having trouble with the mouth because I wanted an active, partly-open style to go with the sense of movement in the clothes; I feel like this character is mid-twirl as we see her. I tend to get stuck on using natural shades for makeups, so hadn't thought of using the black lipstick. It suddenly twigged when I realised I also needed a black belt to go with the black gloves -- without a belt, the transition between the shirt and skirt is too abrupt -- I'd tried greens and none of them fit, and I'd tried whites to go with the hair, but black worked so much better.

Sorry for answering you only now, could dabble in the wardrobe just today.
Every time I have trouble finding the "missing item" I look through Items I don't own (which sometimes ends up in an expensive buying spree orz), but we also have the Borrowing/Lending board/group for Stimulate which you can ping and someone might just have the missing item for you ^^
I really like the mouth, I think it was a great idea to get some black makeup on the lips. The expression is mysterious and the partly-open mouth fits the outfit really well. My go-to open mouth is usually the also because it's a bit lopsided which is really adorable, but the Kore Woodland Lipstick is an affordable alternative. Really like this whole lip layering actually so I wouldn't change it.
The belt, yeah it's a bit tricky to find the right angle to cover up the shirt. I wouldn't even change the shirt as it's flowy-ness looks nice with the other fabrics and the color is similar to the bright part of the hood. I found some nice alternatives to the belts you have: - very similar color to the arms, though it's a bit long - is a very nice fit, though you'd have to layer it under the left sleeve at least or the cutout stands out - the silver looks great with the hair
Idk, just some ideas and tips of how to complete this avatar - though it's already very pretty with some very nice layering. I really love what you did with the background, it's a nice setting for your dancer ^_^
Ooh, thanks . There's another item for the wishlist! I'll have a play-around in the Wardrobe with those belts. Thank you for the compliments, too :)

Ya'll.....I can't decide. Any votes?
Private Outfit Private Outfit Private Outfit
All 3 of them Seriously though, they look amazing and I like them all. I guess either the first or the second one as I like the softer colors with the flowy fabric and the hair is so pretty. Choosing between those 2?.. hhmmm... the second one? The cream is nice
Hewwo people, I got a an almost finished ha for this week's stimulate, but the colours are looking a bit messy to my eyes. is there any ways i could get a bit more green or brown into this without overthrowing the whole thing off? or just some way to tidy this up? also dont @ me about the shoes it supposed to be barefoot Outfit Not Found
Have you tried the seafoam coverup instead of shell? Also I think it could be nice to layer something like Circus Partycrasher Corset (or another corset) under the coverup and over the blue-y bit of the belt. Then you get the open neckline that you lose with the shell top but still get some opacity in the top (or I just like no straps lol)
Also I don't know if you've noticed you can see her right hand on her face under her hair. Might be worth changing to the plain, hands down, vir sleeves pose?
P.S. the face is super gorgeous but you always do them perfectly <3
sfadvice What criteria do ppl have for picking or in their outfits? is it a silhouette thing or a gender thing, etc? Is one suppose to be more fem/masculine than the other? Is one suppose to be for pants and the other for robes/gowns?
I have no idea. I'm not even sure I've used either in outfits before, but that would just be because neither fit whatever style I was going for. I'd say to use whichever you favored in terms of general look. (Do you prefer the higher or lower bottom? One overlaps the bust region more. One is darker.)
