It doesn't work, asks me for CSC even though it says it's free

It shouldn't actually take the CSC. And unless you have 1000 CSC I would go ahead and try because I believe it goes through without deducting the CSC.

Ohh, well at the moment i have 250 CSC and when i try to change the username, the mutant dog appears and says i don't have enough CSC, do you think i should get the 1000 and try it?

No no no, if it brings up an error then make a ticket and they can fix it for you.
