For a while I waffled between Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw because I really do love Hufflepuff. Like lbr it's the hobbit house, hobbits are the best, food is the best, and hard work and loyalty are way underrated.

But ultimately I'm a Ravenclaw, every single time. I put it down to how easily I get bored if I'm not being challenged enough, or if I'm not learning. And the fact that I used to get really mad at my college professors when they doubted me, and do a REALLY GOOD JOB on homework to spite them. (?????) Now that I'm out of school I'll pick up the most random creative or intellectual pursuits on a whim, I want to know everything and read everything and do everything. I don't know if it makes me "smart" so much as....very bored yet very easily entertained and eternally thirsty for more knowledge.

I still hang with the Puffs though!

I used to consider myself a Hufflepuff back when the series was new (or at least that was my initial instinct), but my brother and friends kept telling me I'd be in Ravenclaw. Then, as the series progressed and we started to learn more about the houses and the students in them, I could eventually see myself as a Ravenclaw too! It's just funny how my brother and my friends figured this out first, whereas I couldn't see it myself until much later in the series.

Overall though, I love learning new things, I am fascinated with scientific discoveries and breakthroughs, and I guess I would fit in with some of the Ravenclaws in the books in that I'm a bit of a quirky oddball. :D

I'm definitely a Slytherin. I'm very cunning and crafty and ambitious. I tend to push myself to extremes because I want to be worthy. I guess if I weren't sorted into Slytherin by Pottermore I would've been sorted into Hufflepuff.

I am a total fence-sitter for SlytherClaw. Until very recently I was positive I was a Ravenclaw, but I think it took a little honesty and maturity on my part to admit that I very clearly lean Slytherin. I think Ravenclaw fits more of my values, but Slytherin is a better fit for my personality.

Since Harry Potter highlighted the choice involved in the titular character's placement, I think I'd choose Slytherin if it came down to it.

Of course, I'm 24 now. I don't think Hogwarts wants me. XD

I grew up identifying with Ravenclaw. When the pottermore quiz came out, I was sorted into Hufflepuff, which I was okay with. Hufflepuffs are admirable. For quite some time now, however, I've identified as a Slytherin. I was curious if things had changed and took a quiz with all the pottermore sorting questions. It was based on percentages, and my highest was Slytherin with 80 percent.

I'm a Slytherin with a healthy side dose of Ravenclaw... so I guess that kind of makes me a Slytherclaw. Took the Pottermore test 4 times across all the years the site's been around, and I've gotten sorted into Slytherin every time. Personality-wise, I can certainly see why... but I also have that book-smart, knowledge-seeking side of me as well.

I think I would be in Ravenclaw, because I am clever, I have always had a thirst for knowledge, and I have a LOT of unusual interests. I also have a lot of imagination and I am an artist.

I have some Gryffindor traits (I am very loyal, I love adventure and I would consider myself to be courageous), but my Ravenclaw traits are stronger.

I have some ambition and I am cunning, but I think I am too loyal to be a Slytherin... And I have not hardworking enough to be a Hufflepuff (yes I seek knowledge, I can read books on obscure subjects for hours... But I don't care about studying for school, and if something does not interest me, I put no effort in it).

Someone I know made a comment recently about whether your house is what you, specifically are like, or if it matches more with what you value, even if you do not meet the conditions exactly at the time of sorting.

So for me what I would value most at the moment that is most similar to what the houses seem to care for is a. self discipline/the ability to Get Things Done (but I don't have that much of it in practice- something I intend to work on), b. cleverness, worldliness, and the ability to know what is Happening, what is important, and Knowing Oneself, and c. the ability to get what you want, even if it is not by completely honest means (I value this because it is a valuable skill to have; I do not believe it is good, but there are times when I wish I had more of it)

Yet I recognize that c can be harmful, and wish I did not value it as much as, say, the Moral path- now, does that mean that I would be well suited in Hufflepuff if I were self centered yet valued selflessness and honesty? I don't think I would fit in socially with a group of people who might see me as evil, and I might see them weak, at my worst moments at least. But what if the Sorting Hat saw a spark of what would make me fit in with Hufflepuff students, and being around people who valued and acted in the way exemplary to Hufflepuff might end up steering me towards becoming more like what a Hufflepuff should be.

I guess the real question is, does the sorting hat see you as you are or as you could be? (nature vs nurture)

Here I am writing a speculative post that ended up being several paragraphs long. I guess I'm a Ravenclaw after all./s

It is a very interesting questions!

My guess is that the Sorting Hat sees both what you are and what you could be... I even thinks that it sees what you will become depending on which house you will be sorted into. This is why Neville was sorted into Gryffindor, despite he wanted to be in Hufflepuff and seemed to be more fitted for this house at the time. The hat knew that he could better himself and become brave enough to oppose against Voldemort and kill Nagini if he was in Gryffindor, but that he would not evolve if he was sorted into Hufflepuff. He had some hesitations when he sorted Hermione and Harry Potter, because he saw that they could fit into other houses... But if they had been placed in other houses, they would probably have become very different people. If she had been sorted into Ravenclaw, Hermione would still be the greatest witch of her generation, (maybe she would have been even more powerful and knowledgeable that she is, since she would have been surrounded by people valuing knowledge)... But she would be less brave, even more of a bookish, and probably introverted. (I don't know how Harry would have turned if he had placed into Slytherin).

I think if inside of you what you value the most is selflessness and honesty, even if you are not honest 100% of the time, the hat could sort you into Hufflepuff. It would know that in Hufflepuff you can become the person you want to be. I think if you were surrounded by people who are selfless and who would help you when you are in need, you would realize that you don't necessarily have to use "evil" means to get what you want. I also think it would encourage you to become more selfless too.

But on the other hand, you say that you value the ability to get what you want by any mean and wished to be able do that without feeling remorse, which is not very Hufflepuff-like... If a part of you really want to be like this, the chances are you would rather be sorted into another house. Maybe not the one you think. The hat takes your interests into account, not only your morals. If your morals are grey, it would not base its final choice solely on them.

(edit: Yes, analyzing Nature VS Nurture seems a very Ravenclaw like thing to do!)
