Just a heads up, you will be able to quit the hydrus quest when we reintroduce it! :) Like I posted above, there were some design things I wanted to update (which I have) and taken in some of the feedback here! The "please add a quit feature" was one of the first things I made sure to implement because, like you guys have pointed out, it sucked if you had a quest for a pet you didn't want to do it for etc.
can we expect them soon-ish? i'm super excited.
I'm working on it, ! I just have one bit left to program, which I'll be discussing with Grace (I'm heading this project but also I don't know exactly the best way to code this last step so I'm going to brainstorm with her some). WE ARE GETTING CLOSE TO BEING DONE THOUGH <3 All the art and basic changes for the page (design / function wise) are ready to go.

Glad to hear it's almost back (with better mechanics)! I'm one of those people that kept putting off getting a hydrus pet because I could always get one...now that I can't, I didn't realize I wanted one so much!
... Huh. I did a bit of poking around, both in the Help forum stickied topics and with a Miracle Potion of my own and apparently, you cannot use it to get a hydrus pet. It doesn't show up in the dropdown list. HM. [sub]And yes, I tried to use it on a pet that had a hydrus version available (tigrean)[/sub]
Maybe this is something that can be changed once Merana is re-released? @ amber It's kind of misleading to say that the Miracle Potion can change your pet into any available colour when it... can't. I don't know if it's available in the loyalty totem (I don't have one so I can't check) but I'm assuming that it's not, if it functions in the same way as the miracle potion.

@ Books That's such a bummer, though! If someone spends 10 bucks on a potion just for the sake of getting a hydrus pet right now, I don't think they give much of a toss about sP-only exclusives, or the map. ;P
The whole uncharted map costs less than 200k right now. I can definitely see it going up when Merana is reintroduced, but again - people spending real money is what Subeta wants. Why restrict that?

I think they only went for that much because random events were so rare back in the day, and the island was this new and mythical place that was totally going to get so much new content! [sub]-cough- Iwish. -cough-[/sub]
You get one random event per hour now, which is stellar compared to the old system, but without the hydrus pets, the map is more or less worthless.
But yeah. Staff, pleasepleaseplease, if you're going to have a real money item that changes your pet into any available colour, make it so it actually does what it says on the tin.

I'll add that to my list of things for when we push this (getting hydrus from miracle potion, not zapper). :)
The information that you can't get Hydrus is available, although it's not obvious. it's in the stickied Frequently Asked Questions and Answers thread that the Miracle Potion doesn't do Hydrus, so this will need to be changed if/when you change this
The description of the Inifinity Berry has a WARNING that it will mutate your pet, but it doesn't. I've been using it for years, and this is what it does: it feeds your pet full. This isn't the first time a Cash Shop item lied about what it does in its description.
That information is not easily available, . My point is that when I go to push all of this, I can add a note somewhere on the page, item, etc about that little clause, if we don't just go ahead and let you get the hydrus from the potion. :)
Any clue how much longer it will be before Merana / Hydrus pets return? A few days, weeks, or months?
I'm sad because hydrus pets have become extinct. Poor pearly coated denizens of the deep.
