Do you think there could actually be an official announcement that the link has been added to the footer? Because while yes, it is a tiny update... that forum group is less than 300 people and right now alone there are over a thousand users online so that means at the very least, 700 people aren't going to get that information at all. =/
I can ask for a siteupdate but all I can really do is ping the tinyupdate group for now.
Well I appreciate you even asking tbh.
This thread kind of makes me feel like users aren't being heard, they're just being told how is already is and there isn't a mutual respect happening.
thanks for that tiny update, much appreciated !!!!
oh,........... and i know how to solve the errors - .........; just let team gold win :):):) (a difference of 44,000 items ) must be enough to prove we won ;):)
if it was a small amount like 400 or 4,000 items i would say steele could still win
that way shops can restock again and lag will be gone :)
Thank you for the tiny update ping for the site report in the footer!
Just putting in my two cents here, but ngl I have not been participating much in this event, donating or otherwise, because of all the site errors. I'll donate a couple things when I can't get through and complete 5 tasks, but I can't spend hours at my computer waiting For the 502 errors to go away long enough for me to do anything. I know I can't be the only one on either team that feels this way. If this event was meant to be another friendly competition and to boost the community/participation then it is being severely hindered by all the errors. I don't know if simulations are at all possible to weed out the bugs before an event goes live, but I think it would be a lot better to have some sort of beta testing before an event goes live to solve all the errors.
Just here to confirm that I share everyone's frustration. As mentioned in previous posts, I also have the footer blocked for years, because it kept randomly appearing in the middle of pages. Without kbbob, I wouldn't have even known it was there. Also, I checked the status page the previous days, and nothing was mentioned on there about the errors. Sept 10 "no incidents" (yeah right), and Sept 11 isn't even mentioned on it, while there were lots of errors as well. So I was assuming the status page didn't work, as it has proven not to have been updated in previous downtimes. I love events like this, and I'm getting tired of it. The downtime pretty much sucked all the fun out of it already. I'm not even angry, just sad. Sad that after all these years, yet another event is ruined by downtime. And like Tris said, every server or host or whatever update promised things would be resolved. They aren't. Not by far.
The number one reason I never visit the Status Page is that it hurts my eyes. Neon Orange and Emergency Vehicle Green on white are cheerful and happy, yes.
The number two reason I never visit the Status Page is that it won't load. There have been times where I was just checking to see if someone else's problem (which turned out to be an individual problem) was mostly site-wide but not affecting me. There weren't any problems, but the site was a problem.
The number three reason I never visit the Status Page is that it never registers glitches that users and staff have acknowledged.
So it hurts, it's down, and it's tacit.
Whutevz. lol
Why was the item donating event ended 50 minutes after we were told it would end?
Oh, hello, 502 error.
I'd bother with the status page if it were readily updated and more easily readable.

Oh, so Team Saggi had a beneficial glitch, I wondered how they got all those donations. Oh wells. HOPEFULLY THIS WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN.

How do you figure? What glitch?
The lag and 502 errors are just so annoying... normally one can ignore them but sometimes they sneak in there and just ruin things. Site could be running fine for hours then it seems the moment you go to do something that requires no lag/errors... that's when they pop up.
Yes there's always going to be problems and they will get dealt with but these errors and crashes are seriously taking the fun out of this plot.
So, if we are to go with what the status site says, no one from staff is doing anything to deal with the lag and errors that have been occurring since 12:11 EDT... is that right?
Just a FYI for those with bad eyesight.. this is not something I can see without squinting. Might be nice if a little larger?

You kind of answered your own question. It's all the refreshing and moving hundreds of thousands of items around all at once. No matter how good the servers are, this kind of event will always cause problems.
Which begs the question: why do we still have events like this when you know it's going to hurt the site?

Seriously, I know that we need a way to get rid of items. But nobody really seems to enjoy the item drives, and all they do is kill the site.
Every. Single. Time.
It's not new, and yet you keep choosing it as an event to do seemingly expecting things to go well for once when they never do.
well I can finally get in the site, still have no clue how to get the 5 activities because I don't know what they are!!
