Quick question, but do you know if the dialogue with the NPCs at camp is the same no matter what team you're on? Since that's part of the plot story, I'm assuming it is but just want to confirm.

Yes it does :) you fight the opponent that corresponds to the team you want to join and go back to them afterward the opponents don't drop anything or provide any exp though, so don't feel obligated to fight them more than the one time

the 502 errors are something everyone is experiencing intermittently right now, they are because of some problems with the server. so you should be able to join :) let me know if any problems come up though!

Is there any way that we can do Sarah's Quests so we can (hopefully) catch up with the other team? Why the heck are they so far ahead of us?

you can have a friend hold sP for you or there are some other ways to store your sP in various places so you can do them. they probably just have more active people on yesterday and today =)
