I wasn't aware that you made a different version for each base colour. (I had got the impression from some of your other items that you don't do any of your items for multiple skintones, but never asked why because I couldn't think of a non-confrontational way to word it. I'd love a Bunny Overcoat someday. But maybe with gloves.)

If you're planning to make a V8, then don't slot me, and I'll absolutely buy the V8. Otherwise, I will probably use it for Mabel cosplay because you're absolutely right it won't suit my HA that I normally use, and our Mabel in our game has a cat.

But I think I commented you about this--the cat on this one and Precious Kitty V2 which is sold out, looks exactly like a cat I lost some years ago, so I have to have one with that grey tabby on it. I've been kicking myself for not slotting on Precious Kitty V2 for this exact reason.

When I started to work with basemods, I did the same CW in three versions: V1, V2 and V3. I never did other bases because there weren't enough interest for them.

But doing on V3 was also giving me losses CSC-wise and I don't use other bases apart from V2, so I don't plan on doing sweaters in other colors from now on -- unless it's a recolor comissioned by a friend or something.

It is absolutely fair not to make things you won't use, but...

Have you considered offering them on a "get together enough people to pre-slot or I won't do anything" basis, or a "this is what it will cost, and the price will have to be split among however many people slot for it so I don't lose my shirt" basis? That would at least make it clear that the omission is because you can't afford to make everything in 8 or more colours (which I do totally understand) and not for the other reason that springs to mind even when you are trying to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. No offence intended, but I got a very bad impression the first time I saw the disclaimer on the Bunny Overcoat. (Ironically, I'm white; but my HA is based on an OC of mine, who is most definitively not.)

I understand that commissioning items costs a bunch of money, and NancyBlack explained to me that the cat sweaters were designed before people learned to do the cutout trick and couldn't be submitted as recolours now if you did future releases that way. But if they were redone that way, and the coats were done with gloves...it might save a lot of hurt feelings that people might have and be reluctant to voice because they're afraid there will be drama and deep down inside they really don't want to be right, so they don't ask. And then, you wouldn't have to make ANY other versions. I like a lot of your items, but there are some I just don't slot on because I know I'd never use them.

I do think I want the sweater though, because that cat looks so much like Tissriel, whom I had from 1991-2008.

It's complicated because every recolor itself costs around 10USD + the CSC cost to be putted on site (that can be null if I have enough slotters). =/

I never meant to sound racist when I did that disclaimer or something. I was just being practical: I receive a LOT of messages whenever I do basemods about "will you be doing this on X colorbase?" or "did you already considered to revamp the design to have the hands transparent?".

Sadly, in the case of the animal sweaters, I did asked the artist about that and she did a sketch for me of what it would look like and it got weird, mainly because the arms would have to be repositioned (a lot upper from where they currently are) and they'd be still holding an animal, that would cover a bit of the HA face. The sweater would have to be a bit larger too, so it'd look weird. Sometimes it's a bit frustrating to answer the same questions every day or multiple times a day, even. :(

About the Bunny Overcoat, I never considered the glove idea but this design was purchased in a flatsale (which means I didn't comissioned it, it wasn't my idea, I purchased it "ready") and the artist wants copies of all the recolors. So I didn't have any space to ask for any change on the design; it'd probably count as a new comission if I suggest something like that now -- and it might upset the artist as well.

Basemods can be very very very very frustrating to fill slots because of the colorbase issues and that's also very upsetting for the releasers too. I know many that avoid basemods because of that.

I love when people appreciate my CWs the same way I do, but sometimes is hard to please everyone. Sorry if I upsetted you somehow, it was totally not my intention.

Of course I understand about the hands looking weird and the bunny coat issue now makes perfect sense.

It IS frustrating to have to answer the same questions all the time. (That has happened to me during fandom dramas in the past, which was especially annoying because it was on LJ and the question and its answer were right under the post!)

But it's not a question I foresee going away. Perhaps you could put it under a spoiler cut in your threads so that people can click it and that will decrease the number of people asking it. Probably not to zero, since there's always that person who skims right over the comments at the bottom of the post or the link to the FAQ or the spoiler cuts, but it might cut it in half or even more than that. Either that or you could say "Due to art rights issues, I can't change this design, so I won't be releasing it for multiple bases." I'm not trying to tell you what to do, these are just my thoughts on how to forestall the constant and annoying flood of questions.

I also freely admit to having a lot of Gaia damage on this issue. I did a lot of customs there until it got completely unaffordable, and I'll probably do some here before long.

I think that would work, yes. I should probably also make a "pre-made" answer for that FAQ questions and just (ctrl+c) + (ctrl+v) it whenever. I'm glad you're not upset with me and you could get my point. ^^

How far out can we slot on Moonlit Purrfect Kitty Cuddles...I love it :O Im just over 200 under csc wise but will be buying more later when I get the sp up or if i can drop cash, will know soon either way :) if it's non holdable thats ok too I can just work on it and hope lol
