@ Country I'm sorry you didn't get her. I guess you can always try to talk to the new owner and see if they would change their mind and give them to you- but if not, again, very sorry.

(sorry for another ping, but there is no other way to get your attention after all). One thing you do have to realize tho, is that the ppl that pinged here didn't do it maliciously together to bother you or your bf and if they messaged you and him it was individually, not a collaboration to bother/pester you. I'm not telling you to do anything or reconsider- I'm just reasoning that there's no point to get mad/upset because I think people were just trying to look out for a friend who wished to honor their friend who passed away last year, that's all. I'm sure Erika would have wanted one of her best friends to have one of her favorite pets. But she's long gone now and you claimed the name fairly. It's your right to do anything you want with it.

I think I have spoken to Pestilence only once or a small few times. But I know how Country feels... I lost a very dear friend of mine at the same age when I was 17. Car accident.

Father and one brother died too. Mother survived and was no longer the same.

Not to get off topic, just here to clarify, the account was set to clear last year sometime, and it glitched out and didn't (yeah hi I've been watching Dolls for a long time lmao). That's the only reason it took this long. But there's also a note from Ericka's family on her profile, so I assume they logged in at some point after her death for whatever reason (whether it was just to add the note or for some other reason), so that put off the account being cleared for that first year or two.

IIRC before they added the rule about deceased users' usernames not clearing, there wasn't any special treatment between deceased users and otherwise inactive accounts so I don't think that had anything to do with it.

her mom or sister would come on once a year to keep her pets from getting cleared. They did it a long time...

Ah, I wasn't sure if they would be coming on just to keep the pet names around or not.

But yeah it was set to clear 11/4 last year according to the ticket I made about the glitch, so her family kept it from clearing until 2015 at least.

That is soo sweet of her family trying to keep things going by coming here and keeping things from being closed off... :(

I'm so sorry for your loss dear. It's hard to lose friends. I have had friends that have lost people close to them. Tho I havne't had that sort of thing happen to me, I feel for ya.

yes after the glitch I checked her account and Corabelle was still there. I got her so at least I can save one of her pets. I'll be fixing up her profile to match what Erika had soon.

Actually, I mailed Keith on Nov 04, 2014 and asked him to save Erika's account, which he duly did ^_^ (I still have the mail I sent, and his reply)

What and others tried to say is that this topic probably attracted more competition to the clearance of the names than it had before. And that's completely true.

Probably, if 5 people were up to try to pick the name Princess up, with this board the number must have rise to at least 40.

I know you wanted help, but getting this way was probably a bad idea. Even considering that the whole story being told on a topic could sensibilize most of the ones I know to give Princess to you if they ever got it. I'm certain that your friend would want it and we should always respect the dead.

Maybe contacting people you can trust in private would be better, for an example. Not that it matters anymore. It's done. I'm sorry.
