That is genius! I feel stupid for not thinking about it because I would so be working on getting points. But I still think that the items shouldn't devalue too much. I get the concern.
The system is definitely fine as is in my opinion. It's nice to have some very expensive items that can really be earned by anyone. And the items clearly aren't in too high of demand as I've had one of the books in my trades for months without a buyer. The people who do want the items just want them to be cheaper is what it comes down to, which I definitely don't support.
I am not interested in the items so I don't care if they are cheaper or stay the same price. I put that point in because of what I saw in another thread and that some items are not available at the moment. As the system currently stands I am not motivated to try and refer people, also the system doesn't encourage activity on the site. Let referrers know they can get more points by helping their recruits be more active on site through a number of tasks. This should encourage some players to be more friendly/helpful/social whatever you want to call it and hopefully increase the number of referrals who actually play versus play for a tiny bit and then quit.
I definitely support letting people make more than one point per referral. I mean, it's completely nuts to think that anyone could single-handedly refer the three hundred and forty-nine people necessary to get all the collection items.
Of course, I would support getting rid of the Referral Shop entirely even more, but this is at least an improvement.
I wouldn't mind seeing all of the items out of the referral shop and replaced by pet slots, GAs, name changes, and other CSC perks - just no physical items. I think it would still incentivize referrals and give people a way to get CSC stuff without buying CSC. It would probably need a steeper barrier than just the make a pet and earn 10k or whatever we have now so people don't exploit this or ask a bunch of their friends "hey do this for me real quick and forget about it for the rest of your life"
It is 349 points to buy 1 of every item in the shop not just the collection items. I know tons of people who aimed to buy 1 of everything for event shops and the like so I just added them all up. Idk how many points for collection stuff only. I will look that up.
Oh, whoops! Read that post wrong, then.
Still, I don't think most people would be able to wrangle more than a handful of referrals and letting people make a few more points off each of them would (hopefully) improve item availability for people like me who don't have any friends to refer.
For books, stickers and plushies the total is 105. Counting minions or wearables is like way more.
I like this idea, but would the system be retroactive? Would you get points for the people you referred that have already met any of the goals?
I couldn't say because I am not sure how easy it would be code this to begin with. That is totally up to how they code it and if they could even make it retroactive.
I know I'm biased because I hate the referral shop (always have, probably always will-- I don't like the idea of collectibles that're so hard to come by) but I really like that idea way more than how it currently is?
It gives people the incentive to earn csc based items via other means, and while yeah that is a loss in profit for subeta it has the potential of gaining new users? And just like the last time when people got csc cards for referrals if people cheat they get frozen.
I like that idea. But again I'm biased because I have nothing but hate for the referral shop. I know last time a round of books was added I shelled out a mighty penny at like 6m per point. I'll probably sit the next round out, I just don't care enough about the site these days to cough up $50 for like 3 or 4 books or whatever it was.
(bonus: most of these items are impossible to get your hands on. When people sell points on the open market the cost per point is pretty heavy, and definitely doesn't encourage collecting by any means. Yeah I know some items sit on the market for a long time but considering the cost it can take people a while to save up/bite the bullet)
Subeta's referral system is really unrewarding and doesn't encourage me at all. If you combine my referrals to all other sites, I have somewhere around 1-1.5k referrals. I've worked incredibly hard to get most of them, and none of them were bought or bribed for.
I don't even care about the rewards, exactly. I never care about them aside from a couple on each site. What gets me to put in the effort is achievable goals at every level. When there's consistent prizes until 500, a prize at 500, and another at 1k I stop at 500 because going for 500 more with no rewards isn't fun. And with Subeta, its just not fun. A lot of people have already heard about it, but even if they haven't getting them to count at all is a chore. I have 4 pending referrals that have sat there so long their usernames are available.
I've noticed that most people I refer poke around a little and then leave, no matter the site. 1 pet and 10k isn't crazy or anything of course, but if newbies aren't immediately interested they might not make it that far. For me, that means referring people is a waste of time. There's not enough reward to make up for those who show no lasting interest and clog up the page. If people who are interest could earn us a couple points, that would be a big incentive for me to actually spend time actively referring people. The people who end up staying would make up for those that don't.
So I've gotten credit for referring 77 people to Subeta. Of those, I think only 2-3 were friends of mine (one was my sister!).
I've gotten almost every referral through buying my own advertisement. It takes a lot of dedication and real money to get an actual referral point (where it counts.. I have gotten over 1,000 to sign up).
Which leads us to the real issue here (for both us players and for Subeta): getting people to stick with the site. When someone signs up from one of my ads I always sent them a welcoming pack, commented them, and did a few other things to help them get some easy achievements (friended, added a sticker, potion lottery, etc.). Outside of that, there's not much I really can do, especially if they had already logged off bu the time I noticed.
Giving more points for little actions will devalue the items, and more in favor of people who are bringing friends/family (you know, the people who you can just stand over until they've done it all) - it doesn't necessarily mean they are truly active players.
Subeta needs to work on making it easier to attract people and to get them to log back in.
I don't think I like the idea of pet slots unless referral points become a currency that can be sold as points. Enough people complain that they can't get referrals as it is, and adding something that cannot be obtained with sp will only make it worse (because let's face it, most people still aren't going to do the extra work).
and & Will quote the posts in the 1st one in spoiler tags.
basically just here to echo and . I'd much rather see pet slots/other csc perk stuff in there than collection items that I'd have to sell my soul to obtain.
I fully agree with 's suggestions. There should be more incentives for players who are able to recruit people who actually participate in the site. This way, both the site and the recruiters benefit. I see no point having inactive players who hog good names and clog the system with their empty accounts... unless the site can claim the numbers for advertising purposes.
I get your sentiment but I just don't see it fully happening.
That quote is from yesterday which further sparked me to make this board. I put Kevin's suggestion up to condense for staff who want to quickly see all the ideas being discussed. I don't think collection items should be removed and I don't think staff will do it. No single suggestion will make everyone happy. But I would like to see like a combination. A way for more points to be distributed, some csc items being available in the referral shop as incentives, and for changes to be made to make the site more welcoming and easier for new players which are Reya's suggestions.
First off, the current newbie guides SUCK, no offense. They literally help you in no ways, it's just a bunch of gibberish when you don't even understand what things mean, what certain terms mean, what anything means when you just joined 5 minutes ago.
Secondly, I think the layout is a big turnoff for most. You literally have to sit for a few hours and figure out where everything is, and then find more because they're hidden things here and there, like battle, ect.
My suggestion is to make a better newbie guide, and make it so it is understandable, work on updating small areas of the site, ie: trades, vaults, ect, and making them more new user friendly, along with a new newbie guide. I have read the current suggestions, and I don't see a need to increase points if this were to happen, and if more csc items were added into the shop, along with a removable item which has value for a point on another account when traded, or gifted.
I referred three people. Guess how many of them play the site? None. I literally told them to sign up and do the requirements so I would get the referral points. :3 because I knew they had zero interest and hi ya I need collection items
As I've always said, Subeta should be more focused on keeping the members who are spending money (and a fuck ton of money) on the site, not trying to bring users to it for 5 minutes (because that is literally all it took for me to get my points)
Idk maybe make a better newbie guide yourself ? or offer to contribute to the ones already in existence. have you considered that haha the site is very large and ever-changing and one person isn't going to be able to keep up with that amount of information and put it perfectly into a guide?
also can someone one please tell me how referring 349 people is a reasonable number? 100 for collection items? ya lemme just go to my high school reunion and pass out business cards with my subeta UN on it that'll go over so well
on another note, I would much rather prefer seeing CSC perks in there (CSC, name changes, GAs, pet slots) like you want new people on site ? make it worthwhile for people. like some people will do work for extra pet slots
me, I don't even have enough friends to even get the toy story plushies okay. nor am I neurotypical enough to just go hit up some strangers and tell them to play a facking pet site
this page shows the top people as far as referrals. eleven people on the entire site have gotten over 100 points. two people over the 350 mark.
I think a few of the usernames on there might not actually responsible for referrals, they just have a good username so when someone sees the box of who referred them, they fill out those names and that user gets lucky.
