Congratulations teams! Another WWS is in the books. Everybody did fantastic and wrote some amazing stories. Three cheers to our host , our judges, our cheerleaders and our helpers!

First of all, I must thank you for all the kind comments and add my own thought that Wayward Squirrel adventurers are the BEST! (I'll have more comments in the epilogue.)
My own "OMO, they didn't!" to those of you who actually wrote out the Mah-Jongg rules! I hope you cut and pasted. I honestly thought you would just send me a link, or get it wrong, but only one team did the last. This is one of my very favorite games to play. I have been playing since I was three and was taught in a back room of Frank Fat's while being fed lots of foods that weren't even on the menu! Thanks, Aunties and Uncles! :D
Now, as to the very tricky puzzles, I'll start with a judges' explanation:
<p>These puzzles were deliberately deceptive and several had multiple answers, but only one of those answers could fit the criteria of the set-up. Criterion 1: Far East; Criterion 2: Game. BOTH had to be met for an answer to be correct. The third Criterion would be the wording of the question itself.</p>
<p>To these ends, and to save endless appeals, we&;re asking Rowan to include the most popular wrong answer(s), if applicable, with an explanation of why these don&;t meet the criteria. We do expect this will not please some of you, but it was a Far East Game quiz.</p>
<p>As always, we are pleased to serve you on these events.
Okay, here goes:
Far East Game Quiz
- What is the meaning of Atari?
Answer: In Baduk/Go, if Black has only one liberty left, that stone is "in atari", as in game over. Warning or danger accepted.
Any variation of that was given credit. Yes, it does mean neighborhood and also on target, but those are not game terms.
- Which game company doesn't belong on the list? Nintendo, Konami, Atari, Sony, Sega, Square Enix.
Answer: Atari. It's not a Far East company.
Please refer to criterion 1. It is true Square Enix does not make consoles, but it is a Japanese company.
- Which doesn't belong in this list? Hwatu, Chang-gi, Yut, Baduk, Alkkagi?
Answer: Hwatu It's the only card game; the rest are board games.
No, it was not about the use or non-use of the letter "a." That's neither regional nor gaming.
- "Catching Seven Pieces" is played using what?
Answer: Rice bags or pebbles.
- What are Chien Tung?
Answer: Chinese Fortune Sticks
- What is a bamboo empty bell?
Answer: A yo-yo or pull bell toy (Origin in Ming Dynasty)
A LOT of you missed this (yes it was designed that way) by defaulting to Japan, and grabbing the Shakuhachi, which is not a game, but a musical instrument (flute). Junu would be proud, but it was not correct for quiz.
- What is a Chien-tsu known as in Western cultures, and what does the word actually mean?
Answer: In the West, this is a shuttlecock (several variations), and the original word is arrow.
As much as I really like Shih-Tzus, and they are very playful, they are not a game, although they'll share a stick or ball with you!
- What is Japan's most popular mechanical game?
Answer: Pachinko
- Japan has versions of Chang-gi, Baduk, and Hwatu. What are they called?
Answer: Shogi/Shjogi, Igo/Go, Hanafuda
- A card game based on a Japanese manga swept the world in popularity. Name it.
Answer: Yu-Gi-Oh!
Yes, Pokemon is wildly popular, but it was originally a game base on a childhood game invented by Satoshi Tajiri. It inspired animes and mangas, not the other way round.
Easy Bonus: Please tell me how to play Chinese Mah-jongg. (Use for extra points or substitute for any of the questions above.)

Telling anyone that it didn't have rules doesn't teach you how to play it, so sorry, not the correct answer.
This was a very hard and Tricky quiz. Congrats to the two teams that aced it and the others who got 900!

This was another one that required that bore in mind that you were in Sinhae, and East does not equal West in color meanings.

There were ten questions on the Far East Quiz, and the bonus. I originally posted that those were 10 each instead of 100, but I've fixed it.
I'll check your coin submission. You're right. I made a typo, so I only subtracted half for your honesty, and it doesn't change your placement.

I knew two of those questions, and the 2nd one I saw both ways as I am a true gaming nut as is hubby as we collect both consoles, handhelds and games lol, I also knew Pachinko having owned several of these machines myself, though we only have one called Magic party left :)
