Hello, thank you for the warm welcomes!! ❤️ I've been on subeta for about 2 months and this is my first group, so I don't know how things work ;w; (but it looks like fun and I don't really have anyone to talk to here so I thought this would be a good start~)

I totally understand... Websites like this are fun, but you need friends and such to make it really nice. :) I'm sure you'll love it here. Have you had a chance to check out the daily HA contest? Pengy puts up a new item each day, and we all try to use it to create a pretty HA. :) That's really fun. And sometimes individual users put on contests and things, too. (I'm running one right now :O points at signature)

just wanted to let you all know, i got a new pet today :D his name is Chip and he is a degu! i adopted him from a local animal rescue centre (scottish spca). he's adorable and a troublemaker. and a con artist. he destroyed the first pet carrier they gave me to take him home in within a few minutes (didn't even get him out of reception!), chewed a hole in the 2nd they gave me, but managed to get him home in it. and now he's happy to say hello to me through the bars, and take food and treats from me, but he likes to pretend he's not had anything, and hides them all around the cage. sneaky boy! i wanted to get a pair (or even 3) degu, but sadly they 3 they had in the shelter had to be split up because they were fighting, so i just took one. he was the friendliest of the lot, and even came and sat on my hand. and now whenever i talk he comes over to see what's going on and if i want his attention. i hope he likes being handled, as i think he must be very friendly

they look like a big gerbil (i also have 2 gerbils :P ) with a hint of squirrel. but they are related to guinea pigs :3

Sounds like fun! In college I had gerbils. I loved having them. I named them Rum and Coke LoL Looooong time ago! ;)

I have never heard of them. At the school where I work there are chinchillas. They must be SO HOT here!!! hehehe

i'd love a chinchilla, but i decided a degu was more in my comfort zone. though they have so many more dietary restrictions than gerbils XD nothing with sugar in it! i was really annoyed because i ordered a bunch of stuff from a pet shop online, that's meant to be great, and i bought the stuff that was listed under their category for degu, but when it arrived today, all of the stuff says it's not suitable for them! luckily the gerbils can eat it at least!

Lucky gerbils! I have cats (outdoors) and a dog. My dog does NOT like the current food. Poor puppy. Lots left to eat before the next order. My cats (5-6 mine, the other dozen or so are feral) go through in about 7-10 days! No rodents in my near future. We loved having an iguana but it was too much with daily grated fresh veggies. I don't even eat that well! ;)

Thank you for adopting a rescue animal hugs I'm so excited for you and jealous, I've always wanted a degu!!! You'll have to let me know if he's a friendly pet. He's so cute! Is he fully grown or will he be getting bigger?

haha XD yeah sometimes i think my pets eat better than i do! my dog loved greek yogurt, but recently the supermarket changed their own brand and now he won't touch it. we don't think much of it either, but he has a lot less taste buds, so if he thinks it's bad, it must be bad! it used to be his favourite thing (along with melon :P he loves fruit and veggies) that's a shame your dog doesn't like his food just now! hopefully the next stuff you get will suit him better!

he's full grown, but i have no idea how old he is. they couldn't get a history from the owner, so they have no idea as to his age or background. one of his brothers had cataracts, so it's possible they are on the older side. i mean, they can live to be 10, so who knows! i'll probably keep everyone updated on his progress :D he's gone to bed now, somewhere under his piles of paper i gave him. so no idea where he is now XD

Well.... cat food is bad for dogs, but I think the dog food is okay for the cats, so maybe they can help out. There are 8 kittens (4 moms) around, though one is missing since yesterday. 2 of them are semi-feral, 3 are totally feral and the others are hand held. I would love a house cat, but my allergies!!! Eyes already scratchy and irritated from the Blossoms? cats? dog? So many things! I always thought the slow loris would be a cool pet but too inhumane to really think about.

yeah, there's animals i'd like as pets, but i wouldn't have, like a fox or a wolf. stunning creatures, but they shouldn't be kept in a home environment. i feel bad enough keeping the gerbils and degu in a cage! i'd let them run free if i could! i'm hoping i can tame the degu enough to let him out to play sometimes. allergies are awful! i'm so lucky not to be allergic to any animals that i know of
