I am totally in for this, I will try to think of a constructive way to help. I like lists.. I may grab a list of all the possible items and we can split them up equally between the 10 or 15 people participating. I'll post it when I get a chance to make it.

Yeah I'd be interested. Just an FYI that I'm going to be busy today, possibly most of Saturday morning and afternoon, but after that my schedule is presently clear for Sunday and Monday.

- just FYI the old troll group isn't really active any more and, so far, no one has found the time needed to lead/organize a new effort. There seem to be several interested participants. I am one of the administrators from the old group and would be happy to help, but don't have the time it took to organize, test and train. There was talk of trying to coordinate a one day effort in March, but that didn't happen. A single day of coordinated testing and battling might work, but there would still need to be someone with the time to organize the group, assign the weapons to make sure everything is tested, figure out what to do about expensive weapons (usually someone has them), make a plan to share the working weapon when it's found, make sure the group understands how to share wins ... and a million other little details that need to happen.

The other alternative if you are interested and can afford it, is to get a very small group (or even just yourself). Buy every weapon and then test yourself in a short period of time until you find which one works. The known weapons that have worked have been T1-T3 and maybe T4. At T4 owning and testing everything starts to get expensive. And we don't really know whether any higher tier weapons are allowed. I haven't heard about any recent wins against the troll (although that certainly doesn't mean there haven't been any).

Ive read all through the earlier troll thread, and this one, basically if I was to get all the tier 1 weapons and test them, then I could let some other people know that ive had 1 win, and as a small group we fight up to 4 wins, then all try to beat the troll together on the 5th win? trusting that the chosen friends would wait for each other of course :0) [Edit] How do you tell if a weapon is OPB before buying it? Ive filtered the weapons list to tier 1 infinite etc, but theres no way to see if its once per battle until its in your inventory and Im assuming theyre no good?

- once you beat the troll for your fifth win (or any multiple of five for that pet) you do NOT click the "See Results" button until everyone has already beaten the Troll (gotten him to zero hit points) for their fifth (or multiple) wins. That can be a short period for a small group or a long wait for a large one.

The winning weapon is NOT always infinite use - it can be OPB or even breaks forever (where you have to buy a new one each time). Many people use SubetaLodge to check for OPB (warning - it it not 100% accurate). When fighting the troll - you need to have multiples of any winning weapon that is either OPB or breaks (unless you are sure you will kill him in one hit) because you cannot hit him without it even in a battle where you've already used it. For breaks forever weapons you should have several in your armory when you start so you can quickly equip a new one for the next battle. (Warning - if/when word gets out - I have seen a less than 5K sP weapon selling in the millions in minutes).

There is no guarantee that the winning weapon is tier one. I have seen winners from tiers one, two and three and have heard talk about winners from tier four (and we don't know for sure that it is limited to that). Also remember that things like defensive only weapons (shields), potions equipped as weapons, etc can be the winner as well.

- there has been some recent discussion about beating the troll again but nothing has actually taken off. You really need someone with the time and energy to do some organizing/teaching to get the job done (and, of course, possibly the resources to include the expensive weapons in testing, although they could be skipped in hopes that they are not the right ones). The most recent ping group that I know about is here - Beat the Troll but not sure if it is active in any meaningful way. It is possible that a small group with resources could just decide to test and work together. That could be easier than a big group if you have a few trusted and interested friends. Thanks a lot for your help! I don't think anything like that will happen soon... We probably have to open another thread just to find out how many people really want to participate in another Troll beating session :/

I also think that a lot of people who might be interested in joing us don't really lurk in the battle forum... How do we get the much needed attention to this topic?

I suspect though that only people who at least are looking in the Battle forum will be serious enough to get the job done.

There was huge interest when the Troll first came out but it was also exhausting organizing and teaching and testing with so many. I do know that a really small group would be easier, but it has to be a serious one who know and trust each other and who have the pets and weapons to do complete testing (or close to it).

It's relatively easy to get attention for the topic, anytime someone brings it up I see interest. What is needed to get something actually done is someone with the time and energy to do the organizing of a group - large or small. So far no one has had the time to get that done.

Sadly, right now I don't have the time for that, since I'm graduating right now and on thursday will probably be my last exam (probably because the German school system is super confusing) but after the... 10th of July or something I should be able to organize the event (in case there are enough people to do this) Maybe some other nice people who have already beaten the Troll help out as well, because if we are only a few people this will end up being way too expensive to do...

Expense depends If you get a few serious battlers in your group, they often already own the expensive weapons and so they can be the ones to test those. As far as the others go, it sort of depends on the size of your group. There seem to be new people who could do what the original group did and each buy what they can afford. As that group grew, we set up a group bank to help fund weapon purchases for testers who needed sP help. Many of us who have beaten the troll are more than happy to help and there are also several (including if I remember right) who are looking for wins with other pets and are eager to participate. I am certainly willing to help so if you decide to try something in July just let me know.

- beating the troll is really just a matter of serious teamwork. If you have someone (or you will be the someone) with time and ability to organize, you can get the job done. I will be happy to consult where I can, but my time will be limited. I will look forward to hearing from you when you are ready and hopefully, a new bunch of people will manage to beat the troll. :-)
