Can someone please explain the point of this game? Reading expensive books to a pet: battle and job advantage Buying expensive items for chance: achievement (ultimately) I see no achievements for this game in the "newest" section. I just don't get the point of spending millions to go no where. Please point me in the right direction?

It's to drive people like yours truly insane because I have to have ultimate proof before editing item notes at SubetaLodge. And the food for the Lady.. and the challenge .. and the fact that I'm convinced that if I don't complete baking at least 1 of everything successfully I'll miss out on achievements or something down the line. But mainly it's to drive me insane, I'm sure of it.

So.. I'm spending all my time baking because I need to know what levels are needed to bake which items - and I see a costly trend I should have noticed before but didn't. Supply and demand.

Im talking about how insane the price of Canola Oil and Cocoa Powder seems to have gotten over-night. And it dawned on me the big push for those two items most likely didn't hit until yesterday because of the recipes it's needed to complete. So for future bakers, here's a heads up on a few other things that might end up getting more expensive soon:

Bottled Tap Water is used in Garlic Bread Cone, Rustic Vetan Orange Ginger Bread, Banana Nutmeg Chai Bread and Pink Bunny Twist Bread

You'll also need Yeast Packets, Almond Oil and Soybean Oil if you're going to keep baking which have not gone thru the roof price wise yet.

As for me and my progress, getting to level 7 has been a bang your head into the wall experience thus far. I've been trying to get there for a day and a half but have had the worst luck ever with baking the rustic vetan bread. It loves to burn on me and that costs me both 75 minutes AND a pile of ingredients - not to mention missing out on 10% experience. As our level goes up the exp from earlier projects seems to go down and I didn't stock pile enough canola oil so I've got limited choices on what to try instead of the bread but after a few more disasters I've decided in the interest of time I have to make other things and can finally say I'm almost there.

I hang out in Suggestions and I think I can provide some insight into this.

In Suggestions for years folks have been Suggesting this or that combination or mechanism for combination to create new items. Subeta is an unusual virtual petsite in that the means of production of some items is partially in control of the users and can often be profitable. (f'rinstance, the Melted Butter Book sells well but has cheap ingredients in Gentech, and many Carnival Ticket prizes sell for more sP than you'd get selling the WT directly)

Over on top of this proletariat imperative, the idea of baking sweets or food more likely to be imagined as being eaten by the HA or the user instead of zombie items that only a subetapet would eat, or doing something cross-gender like indulging in Mad Science at Genetech has a strong appeal to many Suggestors.

Some people want the every newest thing right now always and it's not like sP are a real currency, it's just company scrip. And in Subeta you can own everything (or nearly so) without selling your soul, unlike some more sucky virtual websites coughneopetscough So folks are driving up the price. Me, I've got nearly a half billion sP in my vault because my shop is so big and questing and restocking are so valuable, So why not spend? In my case, I'm buying my way through the Islander's Antiques, but others may prefer to bake.

Nice going, the items are still too expensive for my taste. Hopefully we'll get a couple more mbox days or something before achievements get released u_u;

i do like that baking thing - and like Solsticesprite said - we have the time to do it :) we dont need to have it here and now or yesterday - and we can earn - restock the items on our own tempo - at the end those items will go down in price again once the hype for new stuff is laying down a bit - right ??? right ( just comforting myself rofl)

All the butter and flour and sugar vanished from my hoard shop almost instanter, so I haven't tried to bake anything and would be very behind you on that in any case.
