If Thorin didn't want to help the people of Laketown, then there would be a war between men, elves, and dwarves. Death is upon them and the company can't stand against all of Thranduil's soldiers. Form hearing what Bard had said, he was only worried and didn't want to start a war. He was a man who they could all trust, and he had helped them to smuggled into Lake-town, putting his family at risk for helping them.

Bilbo had returned to Dale and made his way unseen by the company, only Rash knew he was leaving. It was already night and he was going to give the Arkenstone to the bowman and elven king, and to tell them what he thinks they can do to avoid war. Gandalf was back in Dale after seeking out the evil in Dol Guldur. He talked to Bard about if he really was with this idΓ©a, the war would not make anything better. "This is a fight, they cannot win," Bard replied to the old wizard, then Bilbo speaks up. "That will not stop them. You think the dwarves will surrender, they won't. They will fight to their deaths to defend their own." Bilbo looked at the bowman and his old friend.

"Bilbo Baggins!" The wizard smiled wide, and Bilbo returned a smile to see his old friend again. The trio walked into a tent, which Thranduil had set up. "If i am not mistaken, this is the Halfling who right from under my guard's nose made it into my kingdom." The elven king spoke and looked at the hobbit. "Yesh. Sorry about that." Bilbo said, "I come to give you this." He walks up to the elven king and puts down the Arkenstone wrapped inside of the cloth, he unwrapped it and showed the glimmering jewel. Their eyes went wide when they saw the jewel before them.

"The heart of the Mountain, the king's jewel. The Arkenstone." Thranduil rose slowly up from his seat, and Gandalf walked up closer to the trio. "How was it yours to give?" Bard asked and looked down at the hobbit. Bilbo smiled and looked up at the bowman. "I took it as my 14'th share of the treasure," Bilbo said, and Gandalf smiled to himself. "Why would you do this? You owe us no loyalty." Bard asked. "I am not doing it for you." Bilbo looked up at the bowman and the elven king. "I know that dwarves can be abstinent, and pig-headed and difficult," Bilbo said. "But they are also brave, kind, and loyal to a fault. I have grown very fond of them, and I would save them if I can." He spoke."Now Thorin values the stone above all, in exchange for this then I believe he will give you what you owed. And there will be no need for war." Bilbo explained. The elven king looked at the bowman, who saw hope in the hobbit and they believed his words.

The next morning, the elf king amassed his army & the men of laketown marched with them. The large gathering marched down upon the mountain entrance, as the rustling of elvish armor echoed around the plains. The dwarf company situated in Erebor had already gathered their weapons & armor & they had barricaded the entrance even more. There they stood, behind a wall of dwarf stone, waiting for Thranduil & his army to arrive.

And arrive they did, and swiftly so. Rows upon rows of elves now marched behind their king, as he led them seated on a royal stag. Behind the elves were scraggy, unkempt men that had gathered what they had so that they could defend themselves incase a battle was to be decided.

Before Thranduil could stop in front of the entrance, Thorin - standing atop the barricade, released an arrow that bounced across the ground just inches away from the elf king.

"I will put the next one between your eyes!" Thorin yelled as the dwarves cheered. Thranduil's Elf army took aim with their arrows at the dwarves. All the Dwarves except for Thorin ducked down. Thranduil, however, gave order to his army to stand down.

"We've come to tell you payment of your debt has been offered... and accepted." The elf king spoke with a small smirk upon his lips.

"What payment? I gave you nothing. You have nothing!" The king under the mountain kept shouting angrily. Bard, however, walked up in front of Thranduil & pulled forth a large gem, shining like a star.

The dwarves started to look among eachother, visibly upset. Kili seemed furious. "They have the Arkenstone!" He looked at his brethren, then turned to Bard & Thranduil "Thieves! How came you by the heirloom of our house? That stone belongs to the King!"

The bowman looked up on the young dwarf calmly & spoke with clarity. "The King may have it, with our good will. But first, he must honor his word."

Thorin, however, wouldn't accept it. He could not, for he was stout & proud as much as he was stubborn. "They are taking us for fools. It is a ruse. A filthy lie." He spat with disgust. "The Arkenstone is in this mountain! It is a trick!"

"It...it's no trick. The stone is real. I gave it to them." The small but confident hobbit wandered up to Thorin & the company from behind.

"It's no trick. The stone is real, I gave it to them." Bilbo had spoken and walked up to face Thorin. The company's eyes land on the hobbit and their king's cold glare drifts to the halfling. Thorin's face was a mix of anger and betrayal, as he watched the hobbit speak the truth. "You." Thorin breathed, disbelief heard in his voice.

"I took it as my fourteenth share." Said the hobbit calmly. "You would steal from me." Thorin seemed like he didn't listen to Bilbo. "Steal from you? No, no. I may be a burglar, but I like to think I am an honest one. I am willing to let it stand against my claim." Bilbo gives a small smile to the dwarf. Without realizing it Valerie had grabbed the hilt of her sword, her instinct told her to protect her friend. "Against your claim? Your claim? You have no claim over me, you miserable rat!" Thorin barked, angry clearly visible. He threw his bow to the ground. "I was going to give it to you. Many times I wanted to, but." Bilbo spoke, he was shaking slightly but he didn't flinch away from the furious dwarf. "But what theif?"

"You are changed, Thorin!" His words cut deep. Freezing the company where they stood. "The dwarf I met in Bag-End would never have gone back on his word! Would never have doubted his kin!" "Do not speak to me of... Loyalty!" Thorin turned to his brethren, "Throw him from the rampart!" Instead of obeying, the dwarves nearest Bilbo took a few steps away from their king. "Do you hear me!?" Thorin barked yet again, he was shocked that no one obeyed his order. He grabbed Fili's arm, but his nephew shook him off. "I will do it myself!" Thorin lunged for Bilbo as he stepped forward the hobbit, Valerie had moved between the two she was fast enough to act, shielding her friend by grabbing Bilbo behind her. Thorin stopped in a brief moment, his eyes lend on her as she shielded Bilbo. Her heart raced in her chest and her fierce eyes were burning like a flame. "Curse you!" Thorin yelled at her, but then Kili and the others had stopped by her side protecting her and Bilbo. "If you don't like my burglar or the woman who tries and see good in you." A loud voice boomed over the plain of the army. The company, including Thorin, snapped in shock when Gandalf striding through the amassed armies. "Then please don't damage them. Return the two to me. You're not making a very splendid figure as a King under the Mountain. Are you? Thorin son of Thrain?" Gandalf stared up at the dwarf, and he so down at the wizard. "Never again will I have dealings with wizards," Thorin grumbled, still watching Gandalf. "Or Shire-rats!" He barked. Bofur helped Bilbo and Valerie to climb down the towering stone wall with a rope. But the Blonde woman couldn't leave, she wouldn't, so she stayed by the dwarves. "Go." She gave the hobbit a nod and a small smile, but Bilbo looked at her his eyes were worried, but he knew that she couldn't leave.

"Are we resolved? The return of the Arkenstone for what was promised." Bard called out. "Give us your answer!" The man called, "Will you have peace or war?" Thorins eyes gazed upon the east, the direction of the Iron Hills. Like he was waiting for something. "I will have war!"

The ground beneath the elven army started to shake. Thranduil looked around upon his giant stag, and realized that the entire stretch of land was rumbling. Then a horn could be heard, signifying the arrival of the dwarves of the Iron Hills.

Bilbo looked worringly at the arriving mass of dwarves & then focused his eyes on the front figure of the army. "Gandalf, who is that? He doesn't look very happy." He spoke with haste. Gandalf didn't look at Bilbo, but also kept his eyes on the front dwarf. "He is Dain, Lord of the Iron Hills. Thorin's cousin." The wizard scoffed. Bilbo looked up at his friend & mentor. "Are they alike?" Bilbo asked. Gandalf sighed deeply. "I've always found Thorin the more reasonable of the two." He now quickly peeked at Bilbo, then strode onwards to the army.

In front of the amassed dwarven army, a large dwarf with strong features rode upon a ram that was equal the size of Thranduil's stag. Dain, lord of the Iron Hills, opened his mouth to shout.

"Good morning! How are we all? I have a wee proposition, if ye wouldn't mind givin' me a few moments of yer time. Would ye consider... JUST SODDING OFF?! All of you! Right now!" He shouted across the plains with a glaringly annoyed voice. He gazed upon the elves & men standing below the hills, laying his eyes upon the grey wizard.

Gandalf approached the army from afar, calmly gesturing with his hands towards Dain. "Come now, Lord Dain."

"Gandalf the Grey." The dwarf lord started. "Tell this rabble to leave or I'll water the ground with their blood."

The wizard kept wandering slowly towards Dain. "There is no need for war between Dwarves, Men, and Elves. A legion of Orcs march on the Mountain. Stand your army down."

"I will not stand down before any Elf!" Dain yelled, "Not least this faithless woodland sprite! He wishes nothing but ill upon my people! If he chooses to stand between me and my kin, I'll split his pretty head open! See if he's still smirking then!"

Gandalf looked unsure & a little panicked, "Dain, wait!" He uttered, but the dwarf wouldn't listen.

Thranduil now grew serious & had an annoyed look on his face. "Let them advance, see how far they'll get." The elf king shouted mockingly, staring at Dain.

Dain grew furious, spitting as he yelled "You think I'd give a dead dog for your threats, ya pointy-eared princess?" He then looked back at his dwarf brethren & started advancing with his ram. "You hear that, lads? We're on! Let's give these bastards a good hammering!" He shouted, as all the dwarves on their rams started to gallop.

There was a loud battle cry coming from the Iron Hills army. Thranduil ordered his army to begin moving forward, leaving the Lake-town men behind. There was movement from the dwarven army and hundreds of armet battle rams began rushing down the hill to meet the armored elves. At an order from their elven king, the elven archers sent up hundreds of arrows in the direction of the advancing dwarves. They never made it to their target, nothing more than harmless woodchips hurtling into the ranks of elves, wiping out rows and rows of them. Thorin's dwarven brethren cheered mightily at the display from their kin.

”Hey! How do ya like that, ye old twiddly-widdly?” Dain called mockingly down at the Elven king, who was staring in shock at the carnage around him. The elves tried again but with the same result. The dwarf's battle rams were barreling down on Thranduil’s army and the front lines quickly formed a two-layer shield wall. Which the battle rams ran right over the top of and crashed into the soldiers behind. The rest of Dain’s army rushed into the fray and the two races slammed into each other with a sickening crash of metal.

For once the company was not cheering this time, there were expressions of shock and concern. Expect Thorin who merely watched the conflict raging beneath him. Then a deep guttural growling echoed through the valley and the ground began to shake. Elves, men, dwarves all froze where they stood and eyes turned to the mountain. This finally caught Thorin’s attention and he lifted his head a flicker of worry crossing his face as the noise steadily grew louder. ”Were worms.” Gandalf said, Bilbo, looked at him with fear as the ground suddenly burst outward from the southern spur of the mountain and a monstrous worm appeared from the ground. They burst forth easily crushing massive boulders with their teeth as their mouths nothing but huge drilling machines. They disappeared as quickly they had appeared and was a moment of tense silence as everyone waited.

Words shouted in the Black speech drew their attention towards Ravenhill, and Azog stood there armed for battle. At his call, a horn sounded there was another low rumbling and legions pouring from the tunnels.

”The hordes of hell are upon us!” Dain yelled at his men. ”To battle! To battle sons of Durin!” The entire dwarven army changed direction from the elves and rushed headlong towards the quickly approaching orcs. While the elves remained where they were, Thranduil didn't want to fight with the army from Iron Hills. ”I am going over the wall! Who is coming with me?” Fili cried, hurrying towards the rope that Bilbo had scurried down earlier. The company cheered and moved after Fili.

”Stand down!” Boomed a voice behind the company. ”What?” Gloin asked in confusion and everyone looked at Thorin. ”Are we to do nothing?” Fili stared at his uncle uncomprehendingly. ”I said, stand down!” Thorin glared at them all, then turned and stomped down the stairs, not giving the chaos in front of the mountain a second thought. They all stared at each other in shock, unwilling to believe that their king had essentially just told them to abandon their kin to the orcs. ”Comm'n we need to find Thorin.” Balin told them with a sigh, the company walked inside the mountain again, with one last helpless look at the battle. ”We can’t let Dain fight this battle alone!” Kili spoke urgently, he was right this was absurd to let the others fight alone against Azog and his pack of orcs. ”He is in the throne room.” Dwalin had told the company. ”I’ll go and talk some sense to him, he is still there I can see it.” Valerie didn't want to just leave their King, he was still Thorin but the sickness needed to end.

Thorin was slouched on his throne, staring at the Daughter of the Moon approached the room. Thorin's glare was filled with greed and madness. ”You start a war that your cousin is fighting your fight for you. Yet here you stand. Hiding from your own fight.” She narrowed her eyes and looked at him. ”We have enough of gold and wealth to be safe in the mountain, we need to go deeper within the halls of Erebor and hide the gold.” With desperate, he tried to attract her with gold. But she didn't buy it. "This is not the Thorin Oakenshield I got to know at my farm." Valerie sighed and her heart ached for him, she had seen him fought to not become like his grandfather, but here he was, just like him. ”I love you, I always have.” Thorin finally told her, his voice was calm and almost back to normal, it seemed like he was out from the trans of madness when he said the feelings he had been holding onto. He was telling the truth, but she couldn't tell what was real or what was made up anymore. Valerie winced her eyes at his words. ”Love?” She whispered as her gaze drifts away from him, her eyes slowly filling with tears. ”Love, how can you say that to me?” She asked as her eyes become unfocused.

Her words cut him deeper than the night. "Please, Valerie." He rose from the throne, and approached her, waiting for her answer, but stopped as she rose her hand up in mid-air and eyed him again, now he saw the tears in her eyes, for that moment, he had never felt this shattered before. ”Don't presume to say that to me: you are not the Thorin whom I fell in love with. And he would never manipulate me or my feelings.” Valerie spoke, he saw she was betrayed and hurt. Silence fell upon the king, his greed and madness took over him as soon the woman had left the throne room. Dwalin met Valerie in the hall when he was about to talk to Thorin as well. He could see she was upbeat and he was worried about what Thorin had said to her.

As Dwalin encountered Valerie on his way into the throne room, he could only see the look in her eyes. A look that made him sorrowful, but nonetheless, he had to try to speak to Thorin. Valerie kept walking in the direction of the other dwarves.

Dwalin made his way into the throne room & looked upon Thorin, slumped on his enormous, kingly chair. He sighed heavily with a deep sadness tinted in his voice. "Since when do we forsake our own people? Thorin, they are dying out there." He started, looking questioningly at his cousin.

The king under the mountain simply waved his hand drunkedly & spoke "There are halls beneath halls within the Mountain, places we can fortify. He paused, then looked like he had a revelation, "Shore up, make safe? Yes. Yes, that is it. We must move the gold further underground to safety."

Dwalin was now visibly angry, "Did you not hear me? Dain is surrounded. They're being slaughtered, Thorin." He shouted half-heartedly. Thorin however, didn't seem to care. "Many die in war, life is cheap. But a treasure such as this cannot be counted in lives lost. It is worth all the blood we can spend." He replied hazily to Dwalin, drunk on gold & wealth.

Thorin's strong cousin now grew fully honest & was not afraid of speaking his thoughts. "You sit here, in these vast halls, with a crown upon your head, and yet you are lesser now than you have ever been." He said, remorsefully. It worked, Thorin reacted angrily & emotionally "Do not speak to me as if I were some lowly dwarf lord!" His voice almost broke, "As if I were still Thorin Oakenshield!"

He rose to his feet from the throne, pulling his sword as he did so. "I am your KING!"

Dwalin's eyes grew somber & tears could be seen forming in his eyes. "You were always my King. You used to know that once. But you cannot see what you have become."

The king didn't look at his cousin anymore, he simply waved his other hand. "Go. Get out... before I kill you." The king didn't have any energy left as he spoke, as the words came out without effort. Dwalin tearfully turned around & walked across the throne bridge & out of the room.

The wolf knight, Rash, had been observing the conversation from atop a balcony in the throne room. It was clear to him that Thorin was still there, but the lingering spirit of Smaug had completely driven Thorin's greed out of control. Smaug was dead, but his spirit could never be vanquished. Rash grabbed the hilt of Akandir on his back, and pulled the blade so he could hold it in both his hands. The blade started to give off bright glow, humming as it awoke in his hands.

Rash turned around after watching Thorin for a while & wandered off the balcony. He started to walk quickly, his steps almost shaking the halls towards the main entrance. And there she was, just behind the barricade, observing the battle with the other dwarves. "Valerie." The giant knight said bluntly. The girl was spooked & almost jumped out of surprise.

"There is something i need you to do." Rash said, stretching out Akandir to her.

Rash had reached Akandir out for her. The dwarves looked at the knight and assassin, wonder what Rash had for a plan. Valerie grabbed the hilt of the sword and its current form changes to be the wight so she can wield it. The knight told her about the spirit of Smaug, that he still lingers in the Mountain. The only way to free Thorin from him is to enter the world of souls and Akandir will send Valerie to the other dimension of souls. As Valerie had the information told she nods and spoke aloud. "I will bring him back." She didn't hesitate and the spirit Akandir let her soul enter the other realm. The woman was sitting down with the sword in both of her hands with closed eyes. The company could hear a heartbeat sound coming from the blade which was Valerie's.

The company of dwarves, and the elven maid, Lilian. All circled around Rash and Valerie, to see the miracle happened as their friend would save Thorin. Opening her eyes instead of been greeted by a bright light, like the first time she met Akandir. This was only darkness, and a glimt by golden ground. It was the hall of the Mountain and she was not alone, Akandir was by her side. The large white wolf leading her way in the hall. This was all like another demonstration, instead of being scared she was motivated because of Rash presence. Which she knew he was watching over her and Akandir was by her side.

Valerie held the sword of the wolf tight in her hand. A deep and blurry growl comes from the Mountain. However, she knew it was Smaug's soul that lingers in here.

Akandir and Valerie walked to the throne room, it was not like the one she knew. The bridge to the throne chair was a bit torn and destroyed, but a figure was sitting on the half-destroyed kingly chair. It was Thorin. He was pale, almost purple, and cold. It looked like he had been here for years. "Thorin!" Valerie ran over to him and gently shook his shoulders, but there was no sign of reaction. She felt a sharp pain in her chest to see him like this. But she knew he was alive, and she understood that this was the shell of his soul, that's trapped here.

"Hold on a little longer. I am not leaving without you." Valerie knew he could hear her, at that moment footsteps boomed from the long hall. The assassin's heart raced in her chest as her eyes leaned on where the sound was coming from. Her eyes scanned the dark and the booming footsteps were then gone. Akandir growled and felt the dragon coming closer. But for the first time in a long while, Valerie felt fearless to face something so dangerous. Sparks leaving her fingertips, and soon fire covers her left hand, she added the flame to the blade. Akandir walked by her side, as the two were waiting. Ready to wipe out this evil that lingers here.

Outside of Erebor, the battle raged on between the orcs & the gathered forces of Middle-Earth. As the elves & dwarves protected eachother, their area of defense became increasingly smaller. The forces of orcs were overwhelming, swarming the elves & dwarves like flies.

The men of Laketown had to retreat back into the ruins of Dale, where they were to make a last stand protecting the innocent wives & children. The newly proclaimed lord of Laketown, Bard, led the men around the ruins to clear them of orcs. As he did, he got assistance from Thranduil, who had led a troop inside Dale. Atop his giant stag, he charged against bands of orcs & with the stags enormous horns, he thrashed orcs to the left & right like one would rake leaves from a garden.

"Aaaaaaah, the human accomplice." A grim voice in the shadows echoed through the golden halls. Valerie looked around as she searched for where Smaug was hiding. Her eyes instinctively looked at all the shadowy corners of the giant halls, as one would presume that the shadows were the hiding place of evil. However, Akandir nudged the girl on her leg & then the wolf pointed with it's nose towards the far-stretching floor of gold.

Valerie realized that she just saw a spine & a long tail stretching from under the floor, swimming through the gold beneath. She also realized that his other reality was warping her sense of time & memory. She then felt how the gold beneath her feet started bubbling, like something was brewing beneath her. Akandir acted quickly & pushed Valerie's legs aside so swifly & powerfully that the girl flew sideways & haplessly like a ragdoll.. The great wolf caught her however, supporting the girl with her back and leaped from the spot the had stood.

Then there was a whirlwind of gold splattering everywhere, as the great Smaug had leaped from beneath the golden ground like a shark jumping after it's prey. Akandir had taken Valerie to cover behind one great pillar, so that they wouldn't get covered in the smoldering gold.

"The she-wolf seems highly protective of you. A pity she too will have to become a part of my dinner." The giant dragon slithered about, searching for the two individuals. "I never knew that sapping the soul out of a dwarf King would be so...gratifying & delicious."

Smaug was now actively taunting Valerie, as he knew how much she cared for Thorin. "Ofcourse, i wasn't dead before, so how would i know. No matter, i can't wait to have a taste of you, Witch, with a side of Maiar." He whispered mockingly.

Akandir and Valerie had a plan to make the dragon slower and teird. By using spells that makes him to his weakest point, even the dragon cannot fight from their power. Akandir told Valerie with using her mind techniques, how to control her inner strenght. The she-wolf was suprised by how quick-learned the girl truly was. Smaug was still searching in the long hall for the two. He stumpled down pillars which stood in his his way. Smaugs deep voice come from the darkness. ”Do you really want to save him?” He asked. ”Would you not like to taste the darkness?” The dragon spoke, searching for the two. "It will make you even more powerful." His voice boomed then slowly faded away. Akandir nudged her nose to Valeries waist, giving her the sign not to listen to the dragons words. She knew that Smaugs words was posion. How he easily could take Valerie's sense of time and memory away. Dragging her into the darkness. The dragon growled in frustration, Smaug was lost in the hall he was so well known of. He didn’t know where the two was hiding, he couldn't smell them anymore. This time was different then the first time he had sensed the assassin and the wolf.

Akandir and Valerie had to move away from the large pillar, when the dragon was coming closer to their spot. When Smaug was close enough but had still no clue where they were hiding. Valerie cast more spells on him, which Akandir had learned how to use. Those attacks made the dragon weak and slower. He still tries to swing with his long neck and bite the air in the hope to get the woman or the wolf in between his sharp teeth. Akandir and Valerie had their chance now, when he was so close to them and weaker then before. The large white wolf let Valerie climb up on her spine as the wolf jumped down from the large platform behind the towering pillar. Akandir told her which spell to use this time, hitting the dragon once more with it.

Smaug was growling out in pain, as he fell to the ground. This time he was weak from the spells that were hitting his flesh and bones. This was now Valerie's choice to decide if she should kill the dragon for good. The she-wolf landed on her four feet back on the ground, facing the dragon. Valerie jumped off from her spine and looked at the dragon. Akandir nudged her nose to Valerie's hilt of her other sword, not the sword of the Wolf. But Valerie's sword she has had for the longest time. The woman looked at Akandir with a questioned look, then at her sword in the hilt. She drew out her long black sword, then Akandir eyes drift from the sword Valerie held, to the dragon.

Valerie knew what she meant, she will seal Smaug's soul into the sword. ”You think you can defeat ME?” Smaug spoke as his eyes drift over to them, the dragon had fallen to his four and couldn’t move, he was hurt and weak. Valerie walked up to the large and dangerous dragon, and his eyes following her. She held her sword tight in her hand and faced the dragon.

”The race of humans and elves reign is over, the war outside the mountain will leave you and your dwarven friends dead!” He growled at her, ” It's the end of darkness, not the end of hope.” She answered and stared at him, for a brief moment the dragon felt a sharp pain under his left-wing. She had struck her sword into his heart. Smaug's soul faded with a bright auburn light flew right into her sword which gleamed by the red light. This was the first time Valerie had sealed a so powerful soul. She never thought this day would come to her. Now Smaug's soul was under her command, sealed in her sword. Valerie had all control over him and no one with more power could chance it. Words were then written on the blade, with Smaug's name. Also Telling the daughter of the Moon is the one to wield the sword of the dragon heir of fire. Akandir had never seen anything like this before in her lifetime. She walked to Valerie and the two had taken the dragon's soul and saved Thorin. Which his shell of the soul had also faded away as when the dragon was sealed to the blade. ”Now you will wield this sword with fire.” Akandir nudged her head to Valerie's waist.

”Thank you Akandir, we did this together.” Valerie petted the large wolf's head. Akandir then made so her and Valerie's souls were back to the real-time and dimension again.

Valerie slowly awoke from her dream into the spiritual plane. As she awoke, she could hear Kili's angry shouting echo through the halls.

"I will not hide behind a wall of stone while others fight our battles for us!" He yelled in a pained voice. "It is not in my blood, Thorin." He spoke softer now, as Thorin was approaching the group from the halls of the king.

Thorin had won over his greed & selfishness. And in so doing, he threw away the golden crown and all the kingly armor he had worn.

He knew however, that he had not won over this battle by himself alone.. Something had left his conscience, something that had weighed deeply upon it. So now, he approached the group with lifted spirits, hoping that they would listen to him.

"No, it is not. We are sons of Durin. And Durin's folk do not flee from a fight." Thorin responded to Kili, as he smiled lightly. Kili smiled back in full, setting his forehead against his cousin's. The pair walked up to the other dwarves, Valerie & Rash, who all stood waiting impatiently to hear his words. "I have no right to ask this of any of you, but will you follow me?" He took a deep breath before continuing, "One last time?" He spoke, searching for his companions eyes.

The dwarves all raised their weapons & roared in joy, as they knew their friend & king was back.

Valerie smiled at Thorin, as he stared with her with a slight smile, nodding as he did. Rash laid his hand upon Valerie's shoulder, whispering under his slow breath. "Well done, Val."

Outside of Erebor, the elves & dwarves were all being slaughtered. The former combined army started to become smaller & smaller, and Dain Ironfoot had to pull his dwarven warband back towards the gates of Erebor. Such a leader was he that he led both the armies of Dwarves & Elves back.

"Hold fast, back towards the gates!" Dain shouted over the fighting soldiers. As the elves & dwarves became less & less, the hope for victory was about to extinguished. But then, a horn was blown with such power that it stopped the battle entirely for a few seconds. Orcs, Elves & Dwarves stared around from what direction the horn was blowing.

Then, loud warcries was heard from the insides of Erebor. With a large crash, the stonewall at the gates of Erebor flew in every direction as a colossal figure clad in chrome steel rushed forth. Orcs, Dwarves & Elves were all terrified at the sight, as one could at first mistake the figure for Sauron because of the battlearmor. But upon closer inspection one could see that the armor was more graceful & the figure was built like a muscular giant. An incredible large sword was dragged behind the being, tearing the ground asunder as he rushed toward the army.

Warcarriages burst forth with battle-ready dwarves standing upon them. Thorin was visible at the front, and rallied the remaining army of Elves & Dwarves to fight.

The giant stomped past the Dwarves & Elves, befuddling them as he did. Behind him, a smaller figure quickly darted past. The small figure jumped gracefully up against the giant's back, using him like a springing board to get momentum. With her sword pulled from her hilt, she spun around faster & faster, dashing through the air like a wild tornado. She landed right in the middle of the advancing orc army, slicing heads, arms & legs left & right. With a large swipe of the flat side of his greatsword, the giant metal-clad knight smashed several orcs left & right.

This rallied the combined forces even more, and with Thorin & their wagons, they charged against the innumerable forces of Darkness.

Dain had approached his cousin as Thorin and the company had arrived to the battle. Looking upon Rivenhill where Azog was. The pale Orc leader glanced down at the company, from the far distance. Shouting out in his tounge, his pack started to cheer to their leader and getting themselves ready to fight the company of Thorin Oakenshield.

Thorin, Kili, Fili, Dwalin, Balin Rash, and Valerie borrowed a large carriage, from the army of the Iron Hills. To get to the Ravenhill, the wheels of the carrier, had sharp blades sticking out to stab the enemies who try getting too close. Gandalf was in Dale with Bilbo, Thranduil, Bard. They kept the wounded elders, children, and women safe. So was Lilian, the elven maid from Rivendell. She are there to help the sick, injured people of Dale who had survived so far. "Where are the company heading?" The hobbit asked the wizard who looked at Bilbo. "They are going to cut the head off the snake." Gandalf spoke about the pale Orc, Azog. Thranduil watched how many of his soldiers had died. "I have spent enough Elvish blood in defense of this accursed land. No more!" The elven King spoke aloud, from seeing how many lives were already taken. He passed by Gandalf and Bilbo. But he stopped by the auburn-haired she-elf.

"I won't let you leave all those people who are in need of our help!" Tauriel had spoken, she was clearly upset to hear the king say he would leave the war and let the darkness win. "Get out of my way!" Thranduil narrowed his eyes at the elven female, who then drew out her arrow placed it steady on the string of the bow, pointed it at her king who growled in anger that she had tried to stand in his way, "There is no Love in you." As she had said that, the elven King had cut the bow and arrow which Tauriel held in her hands. She looked at the broken weapon which fell out of her hands, and her eyes drifted to the elven King with fear. Who now was pointing his sword at her throat. "What do you know of Love? Nothing!" In time had Legolas walked in between his father and the elf he loved. "If you'll kill her, you'll have to kill me first." The King's son spoke in elvish and glared at his father, protecting Tauriel. Thranduil had no words he could say to his son in defense. He knew how much Legolas cared for Tauriel. Legolas and Tauriel left Dale to also take down the orcs from Rivenhill to help the company.

β€œThose gems were not all that your wife left you, my friend. She left you a son. Tell me, which would she have you value more?” Gandalf spoke with wise words, he and the elven king watched as when Legolas and Tauriel took off with a horse to get to the hill, to help the company. Bilbo had taken on the golden ring and hurried in the shadows, to the hill as well. He knew that the company was on their way to the hill, and he wanted to help them.

Meanwhile during the great battle, Rash was completely preoccupied with killing orcs & ogres in the most battlefrenzied manner. He could only watch in the distance how Valerie stood upon one of the warcarriages with the dwarven company, hurrying to the hills that led to Azog. They were far ahead of him, but he decided nonetheless that he wanted to make sure none of them were killed during their skirmish.

So he made a large swipe with his sword, cutting some orcs in half, others were thrown in the air like ragdolls. Then he took off & sprinted such that nearby orcs lost their balance from the force of the shaking steps.

Thorin & the company hurried quickly through the wartorn fields & upstream of a river that led to the hills. Large ogres & orcish warcompanies took chase after them. That's when the dwarves activated several weapons on their carriages, one such was a stirring of oil & fuel which they left a trail behind. They then lit the fuel on fire, and as it spread downwards toward the chasing orc company, some of the wargriders were set on fire. Howling in pain, some of the wargs ran off, preferring to stop the chase because of the searing flames.

Balin, driving the largest carrier, escorted his brethren to the closest place on which one could traverse to the large hill on which Azog was standing. As there were several ogres & warbands still after them, Balin decided to act as a diversion. He shot off with the carriage, having left behind his company to climb the last bit to the hills.

Valerie was the first in line after Thorin, and as she ran after him - she could feel a strange warmth on the hilt of her sword. She looked at the hilt & saw how the blade itself had started to glow an orange light. It was strange, as the intensity of the light grew, just like the fear in her heart did. The closer they got to Azog, the fear & worry inside of her only grew.

"Unleash me..." A deep & intense whisper said to her. She looked to the hilt of the blade, as the voice had come from that direction. She thought for a second about what that could have been, and remembered Akandir informing her of the sealed spirit of Smaug.

Valerie sighed for a moment while she ran, and she hoped that these whispers wouldn't speak to her whenever. That it was only for this once. The group got closer, until they were standing a distance from a ruin of a tall tower. That's where Azog had been standing, at the top.

Valerie's heart grew more restless, and she sensed that something was very wrong. Then it came again. "Unleash me!" The whisper said, now even louder & more intense. She definitely recognized the voice. But how could he still communicate, she thought to herself.

"They were just there!" Fili said with an annoyance in his voice. Thorin turned to his cousin & pointed to the top of the tower. "Fili, climb up the stairs & report. We'll keep a lookout & keep you safe. Go, now!" He told his young cousin.

Fili obliged & nodded to Thorin with joy. He ran to the bottom of the tower & started climbing the giant ruined fortress.

As Fili searched the abounded tower for the orcs, they had just been waiting for the company's arrival. Kili had also joined his brother, but he searched the lower level as Fili took the upstairs of the tower. Thorin, Dwalin and Valerie waited for their signal, but as the two had left their side they were surrounded by orcs. Who was incoming from the other direction of the hill. Now something was not right and they could all feel it. Then Bilbo had appeared and surprised them all. "Bilbo!" Valerie smiled to see their friend, who had arrived. "This is a trick, they need to get out from there." Bilbo had figured it out and eyed the tower where Fili and Kili had headed to. Now Thorin felt blame and worry was written in his eyes. Valerie also grew worried, and her eyes lend on the tower. They could see the light that moved inside the halls of the tower. Then Azog and his pack come out to the broken balcony with Fili. The pale orc held Fili by the back of his neck and looked down on the company from the distance, grinning with revenge, as he spoke out.

"I will kill every one of you. Sons of Durin!" The pale pack leader spoke in his tongue. Kili watched the scene from a distance and hides, while he saw his brother who was already taken. Thorin watched from the distance with Dwalin and Valerie by his side, there was nothing they could do to spare Filis's life. They were tricked. Azog laughed and then had stabbed Fili into his chest with his sword, which is attached to his arm. Azog dropped the young drawf to and the limp body fell down to the ground. He and his pack left the upper level, as his son was making his way to where Kili was. "No! Kili!" Thorin cried as he saw his nephew death take place in front of him. He knew Kili is their next target. Bilbo looked away in sorrow and so did Dwalin. Kili was frozen when he saw his brothers lifeless body drop to the ground. He couldn't think clear at the moment, but to feel rage boiling inside him. He ran up threw the nearby stairs, to fight Azogs son. Thorin, Dwalin, Valerie, and Bilbo all watched in horror by what had just happened. And Azog where now waiting on the large ice ground which would be their battlefield.

But Kili was yet alone, and now facing the son of Azog himself. "I will go to Kili, you find Azog." Valerie said to Thorin, who had grasped her arm before she would slip away to the tower. "Be careful Valerie." She then took off in a sprint, her way to the tower, where Bolg was fighting Kili. Thorin, Dwalin, and Bilbo were surrendered by a few of the orcs from the pack. The hobbit had no weapon but Sting with him, so he took rocks and threw it at the incoming orcs knocked them out.

"Where is Rash?" Bilbo asked he hasn't seen the knight since they got here. Dwalin looked at Thorin who had the same expression. Valerie held her sword out drawn, her heart was fearing the worst to happen as her fear kicked in, the more the hilt was burning in her hand. She jumped over to land outside of the entrance of the tower. "Kili!" She yelled from the top of her lungs, looking around her before she sprints up through the stairs. "Valerie!" Kili had heard her as his sword blocked Blog's blade. The two were already fighting each other. The woman finally reached the top of the tower, where Bolg and Kili were fighting. Her eyes lend on the beast whose face turned to her with a wicked grin.

Just when Thorin, Dwalin & Bilbo were about to search for Rash, they saw Azog. He was standing on the edge of the hill, looking down upon them. Dwalin looked at his cousin with intense eyes.

"Go Thorin. I'll take care of this rabble. You too, Bilbo." He barked aloud. Thorin stared for a moment at Dwalin, then nodded. Thorin turned around & gave chase after Azog. Bilbo helped Dwalin fight off some orcs before running off after Thorin.

Meanwhile, Kili was furiously fighting against Bolg, the son of Azog. Kili fought bravely, but were essentially no match for the monstrous orc. Bolg thrashed & heaved his sword against Kili, never stopping with his swings. Kili backed up against a stone stairway & tripped on one of the steps. Kili fell backwards, and raised his sword to block the swing coming from Bolg.

That's when Valerie leaped to the back of the orc & stabbed him where his heart should be. Bolg yelled out in pain, seemingly dazed. But he turned slowly around, leaving Valerie standing in shock & disbelief.

"He should be dead now." She thought for a second, before getting violently smacked to the side, hitting a stone wall several meters away. Bolg then turned his attention to Kili again, raising his crude orcish blade & jammed it into Kili's chest.

There was a short sigh coming from Kili, as he grasped for air. The pain paralyzed him, and he felt the cold rushing over him.

Not far away, at a frozen lake, Thorin was brawling with Azog. From one end of the lake to another, they hacked, slashed & maimed eachother with fists & swords.

Nearing the end of the battle, Thorin succeeded in breaking the ice below Azog's heavy weight. As the orc fell into the icy water, it seemed like Thorin had won the fight. But as Thorin followed the seemingly lifeless body of Azog, floating beneath the ice, Azog's eyes suddenly shot open & the orc violently broke through the ice, unbalancing Thorin & having him fall on his back.

The orc then slowly, agonizingly pierced Thorin's chest, smiling as he finally slew the dwarf king. But Thorin wasn't dead yet, as he pushed his own sword through Azog's heart. The orc's smile turned into an expression of pure shock, and life left him as he fell to the side next to Thorin.

Valerie dazingly stood up, shaking away the dizziness from her head. Her vision cleared, and she saw how Kili laid on the stairs, pierced by the cruel orcish blade.

A panic rose in her chest & she felt a knot building in her throat, but as soon as the knot had filled her chest, it burst. Her fury & despair knew no bounds. She screamed a hellish cry as she flew at Bolg, sword raised in her right hand.

Before Bolg had the time to react, Valerie jammed her sword into his swollen disfigured head, blinding him by repeatedly stabbing both his eyes. As she did, the sword in her hand grew hotter & hotter, building a fiery aura that surrounded her entire body. The girl burst into what seemed a flaming demon, as she kept stabbing Bolg's now maimed body.

"Yes, yes! Release me!" A slithering, dark voice echoed in her mind.

The blood kept spurting from left to right, spattering against Valerie & burning up before it reached her skin. The heat started to burn the surrounding area, soon to reach her dwarf friend that laid just a few meters from her.

He tried speaking, but it was no use. His words became garbled whispers. "Val-" His voice gave off. But Valerie couldn't hear. She was in a hellish fury that started to burn against Kili's skin.

Iron thumping could be heard, and a clatter of armor. "Valerie!" The wolf knight shouted, as he grabbed the girl from behind, pulling her off the burnt orcish carcass. The heat burned him, his armor became an oven. But he knew that he had to stop her, or she would become a bigger problem than the battle taking place.

"Valerie, i'm here." He whispered, pretending like he didn't feel any pain. The girl's fiery fury died down, slowly but surely. Her whitened eyes, turned normal again, and her naked skin brushed against Rash's armor.

Valerie felt like fainting, but she couldn't. She wouldn't. But she cried, and that was one thing she could not stop.

The knight had placed Kili's navy blue coat over him like a blanket, and carried to dwarf to safer land, where Fili laid too, so they could get their funeral, Valerie had the runestone and placed it back in Kili's pocket, knowing that his mother would at least want to see it again with him.

Thorin comes to her mind, he was in danger and they needed to go to him. Before leaving with Rash, the woman looked at the dead body of Bolg. She saw how the eyes were bleeding from where she had stabbed him, in the fury of her inner magic which she released. She had however no memory of this, only the rage that took over her and it become blank. The king under the mountain walked to the edge of the cliff and as he did, he saw from the distance eagles fly in the sky and Beorn, who was his bear form and killed orcs right to the left. Falling to his knees, Thorin and the company had won. The war was now to its end. Bilbo had run up to where Thorin was. The king looked up at the hobbit with a smile. "Bilbo!" The hobbit saw the wound, but he tried to stop the bleeding by pressing cloth to it. "You're not going anywhere, Thorin. You are going to live." The hobbit said while he pressed his hands to stop the bleeding.

However, Thorin was much in pain and smiled at his friend. "You are no coward, my friend. I am sorry I so named you." Thorin coughed as he tried to speak. He still had energy left to tell Bilbo he regretted how harsh he had been on him. Bilbo shook his head, he didn't want to hear this, he didn't want to see him pass away. "Farewell, Master Burglar. Go back to your books, and your armchair." He breathed with a smile. "Plant your trees, watch them grow." He continued. "If more people valued home above gold. This world would be a merrier place." As Thorin spoke, Rash and Valerie had arrived just in time. The two passed by Azog's dead body and knew he and Thorin had a battle which leads them both to death. Bilbo sat next to Thorin, trying to make the bleeding stop.

Thorin looked up at the two incoming two, he was glad to see them unhurt. Valerie ran to the left side of Thorin, she slides down on her knees as she saw the horrifying wound on his chest. At the sight of it, her heart brust out in pain. "Valerie, I am glad you're alright," Thorin spoke as he placed his hand on Valerie's cheek, stroking away a tear that slipped down from her eye. She grabbed his hand and leaned into his touch. "You're not leaving, you hear me? We will heal you and you'll be fine." Valerie spoke her voice broke with sorrow that filled her soul and heart. Thorin however smiled at her, Bilbo and Rash. "Akandir, she will heal you. Just like how she healed me once, remember?" Akandir had saved Valerie's life, from the time when she was hit by the magic of the force from the hidden door, of Erebor, she tried to seal. Akandir and Rash brought her back to life but, she didn't know that can only happen when the person is connected to the wolf spirit by blood. Valerie didn't want to let go of the hope she had. She couldn't lose someone else she loved. Bilbo now looked up at Rash with hope in his eyes.

"Val is right, Rash. Would it work?" The hobbit asked as he looked up at his friend in the armor.

Rash was about to open his mouth, but Thorin, who laid resting on the ground, stretched his hand toward Rash. Thorin started slipping away, succumbing to his wound. The knight knelt down next to Thorin, unsheathing Akandir from his back. He placed the sword into the ground.

The ghostly spirit of Akandir started to take shape from the sword. The wolf walked up to Thorin, licking his face then turning to Valerie. "Eru is calling him, Valerie. It is his time." The wolf somberly whispered, but audible for everyone around to hear. Rash sighed as he looked into the grassy plains stretching beneath them. He stood up & placed one hand on Valerie's shoulder. The girl nodded, but cried even harder now than before. Thorin silently slipped away onto the afterlife, his hand brushing Valerie's cheek as his arm became lifeless.

Bilbo sat next to Valerie, and he hugged her tightly as they both sobbed together. As they did, the sun became visible beyond the misty mountains, shining over the group as they honored Thorin, Kili & Fili. The orcish army had scattered, fleeing to every direction. They knew that they could not win without a commander. There was no use in fighting anymore. The dwarves & elves cheered on the battleplains, chanting the name of Thorin high into the sky.

The next day, preparations were in order for the burial of Thorin, Fili & Kili & the rebuilding of Erebor & Dale. Thranduil had taken his farewell to his son, sending him off to look for a young ranger in the north.

The burial ceremony itself was kingly & a thing of beauty. Not one eye was dry as Thorin, Fili & Kili were presented upon their burial beds. They were all laying with their swords placed upon their chests in a royal manner. Songs were sung & food was plentiful, as after the ceremony both the elves & the dwarves were celebrating the life of their comrades.

Bilbo was about to return to the Shire, but he was stopped before he exited the gates of Erebor. His friends, the dwarven company, Valerie, Rash & Lilian, were all present to say goodbye to him.

The group left stood outside of the lonely mountain, saying their farewell to the dwarven company. Who did have a king to follow, who was DΓ‘in.

"Uh..." Bilbo was the first one to speak, while he nods fighting the forthcoming years. "If any of you are passing Bag End..." "Tea is at four, there's plenty of it... You are welcome any time." Bilbo was now smiling to his dwarven friends. "Don't bother knocking." The company chuckled at the last part Bilbo said. Then Gandalf, Rash, Bilbo, Valerie, and Lilian escorted first the elven maid home to Rivendell. Elrond was there and welcomed them. "Then I guess it ends here.." The elf breathed out, with a pain in her chest while she faced her friends. "This journey I will never forget.." Lilian tried to smile but ended up in sobs. She was sad it had to end this way, for the sons of Durin and for the company who had lost people they really cared for. Valerie was first to walk up to Lilian, and she embraced her. "Take care, Lilian." Valerie small smiled, the elf's eyes were filled with tears. "You too, Val."

Bilbo also gave Lilian a hug, saying goodbye to her. She then looked at the knight, who nods to her and gives a small smile. Lilian knew Rash and she couldn't be together. She had seen how he looked at Valerie, and that he wanted to be by her side after everything they had been through. "Goodbye. Take care, all of you." Lilian gives them a sad smile. Then Elrond walked with her back to the castle. The company left Rivendell to the Shire, the hobbit hole. "I am going to miss you, Bilbo." The Daughter of the Moon smiled at the hobbit, as he hugged Valerie tightly. "But, I will show up and knock the round and new painted green door." She smiled, and Bilbo's eyes lit up as he chuckled with a nod. The hobbit looked up on Rash, who had also hugged the hobbit and given his last words to his dear friend. Gandalf smiled at them and knew they will see each other again. "We will meet soon again, my dear friend," Gandalf spoke as he held his staff leaning on it.

Bilbo waved goodbye to his friends, while he watched as the wizard, woman, and knight wandered off into the woods. The orange colors of the sunset took place in the sky.

The end.
