I really like the name "Sidhe", actually.

I made a forum suggesting this color awhile back but I don't think people understood what I was really trying to say.

I mean yeah, real Fae aren't always....uh, nice. My one problem with this color idea is that if we go deep into fairy lore (Not disney/popular media fairies) no two look exactly alike, really. Would we go with nature spirits or water nymphs? Darker tones or overly cheerful?

Personally, I don't mind the idea of it being more of an overlay than an actual color scheme.

Nah, I dunno why but to me Fairies color have always been Angelic. And from what I see suggested here, people see it too near of Angelic, Glacier and Glade. We need something different from what we have.

Now if we go with the non cutesy faeries, that could be interesting!

Agreeing that most of the suggested ideas seem too close to colours we already have, but I do like the idea of pets covered in rune markings and whatnot! (I also like the butterfly wings posted earlier, but I'm not sure how well those would go with "Sihde" or Arcane, so that's more of a general like than a suggestion to mix with this I suppose.)

Personally, when I saw this, and the suggestion that it follow traditional fairy lore color scheme wise I ended up thinking mostly of Brian Froud's artwork, but that may be too close to harvest and glacier color wise now that I think about it.

I do think that color scheme could be used. He uses a lot of browns, yellows, reds, greys and blues in his artwork.

I'd love to see something like this. "Too similar" is kind of a weak argument. There are plenty of colors already on site that look similar to each other.

I really like the idea of a sidhe type idea/creation for the pets. Specially if they were designed similar to those challengers. I like the colors too and there really aren't any similar that I'm thinking of. I don't think they look too close to glacier and angelic. Maybe if you combined them and threw some sparkles at them haha.

I don't know if this would work on this site in particular, but I also love the idea of splitting them up into "Seelie" and "Unseelie"! That would be two different posed colors though... unless you made one a recolor.

Anyway, overall I like the idea. I think it would be very possible for them to not be too similar to Angelic, however I understand why people think Glade/Angelic/even Galactic also works :D

I am way down with fae pets! I feel like a lot of the newer colors since my hiatus have been pretty "tough", even the harvest/spring scheme has some pets that look intimidating (and honestly most the sweetheart ones look terrifying to me)... We need another super cutesy color! And moar wings!

I feel like fairy worked in Neopets because there were established, important fairy characters. What does subeta have? and the atebus fairies, which already have a color - galactic. It just doesn't fit in to the lore of the site.

I wholeheartedly support it. And, imo, "too similiar" is a bit of a ... weak argument to me, I guess? I mean, we have two recolors of prexisting "special pose" colors, and then we have stuff like sun, reborn, cherry, etc... I really don't see the harm in having a ghostly, beautiful, ethereal color, especially since glacier pets often look bitchy and mad, angelics look giddy and childish, and nightmares well... are nightmares, angry, abominations. So on and so forth. I think there is a lot of room for individuality. :)

Too similar is a STRONG argument, because you could just get an overlay. Hiring an artist is not expensive or hard here.

When we are making color Suggestions we are asking Subeta to spend money and artist-time, and they are a small company and have limited resources. There are some fifty four pet species, so this is a lot of artwork. Those things could be better spent on broadening and deepening the appeal of existing colors by revamping, or creating a new color that's genuinely unique and a draw for more users to come and play.

There is no general agreement here on this thread on what this fairy color should even look like so objecting only to the 'too similar' pretty much ignores all the other input in this thread for the Sidhe color that are pretty cool. It also implies that their ideas are not even worth talking about.

Faeries are not cutesy

Tinkerbell is especially a jerkass, but faeries are generally tricksters who are bond to their word. They shouldn't be cute and fluffy and adorable because faeries aren't cute and fluffy and adorable

If you want something cutesy and winged - Angelic is exactly that.

Should we get a faerie color, it better be arcane and trickstery and mischief-making. Not "evil" like Nightmare or Dark Matter would be but "evil" as in "give me your firstborn and I'll make you prosperous"

Redcaps are considered faeries. Not cutesy or kind by any stretch of the imagination. Most of the faeries in original stories were not cute or kind, and if they were beautiful, it was for a predatory purpose. There's a reason most fae were generally referred to as "the kindly ones" - it's not a factual description, but rather a hopeful belief that such a title would elicit such behavior, which rarely happened.

I get how cutesy has entered the popular lexicon but I also agree that something cutesy pastel fairy is too close to the Neopet color. While I do like the seelie/unseelie idea, we do already have dawn/dusk, especially notable is the pool in Shengui Guo now with the Zentu. That could be expanded on, which would be cool, but I'm unsure what that would look like or how it would work.

I agree that there just isn't enough consensus as to what this color would look like, and that what people propose (while gorgeous - I would do quite a lot to get that pretty battledome opponent as a pet) I think this could be best done in overlays.

I put 'trickster' in the 'cute'er side of things... right now the aesthetic seems to be skewing a little darker, I would love some more joy and mischief in pet colors. I am way down with a naughty fairy vs a barbie fairy. I really just want non-angelic wings (and no demons because jfc im over all the 'evil' pet recolors....) that leaves the wide variety of fairy-esque options :D

but regarding the "too similar" argument, can people seriously not look at bloodred, dark matter, and nightmare and not say that is all the exact same theme with a slightly altered palette? When we have three black pets (plus a literal palette swap recolor), I am seriously unimpressed with the 'oh but we already have angels' argument. At least to me personally, an insect-ish wing vs an angel wing is waaaay more different than red vs purple mixed with black!

Dark Matter is closer to Hydrus thematically than it is to Bloodred and Nightmare. That's a big distinction. You can also see the presence of the orbs.

Dark Matter and Hydrus are the two corruption colors. Dark Matter are servants of Maleria, Hydrus are servants of Merana.

Dark Matter and Hydrus are (mostly) mind-control evil, Nightmare is supernatural evil, and Bloodred is natural evil, with the questioning of bloodthirst and rabies.

They're all evil, but they're different kinds of evil.

We need a lawful evil pastel color. We need colorful evil, because all of the nastier colors are muted (sup hydrus) or black/white (dark matter, bloodred, nightmare and glacier)

Give me my evil pastels. It's a source of evil that wasn't exploited, and would be so much more interesting.

If people want more cutesy pets, faeries are a no-go. Faeries are jerks in myth.

Sounds like we're trying to create an imaginary colored pet that wants to mess with our minds (I would love it xD)
