Oh goodness lets see, so I must have been about 4 or 5 years old when my cousin introduced Pokemon to me and I've loved it ever since. My first owned game was Sapphire but the first one I played that I didn't own was Gold! I think my favorite will always be Sapphire, probably due to also being part of my favorite gen c: I also remember owning a couple of the pokemon show episodes on VHS and being in my elementary school's trading card club, and I still have all my pokemon cards in a box somewhere cx I'm now 18 years old and I don't think I'll ever stop loving pokemon <3
Wow, it's been 20 years already? Dang. xD
I remember wanting a GBC just for pokemon and was beyond ecstatic when I got one. ;O; Pokemon yellow was the bomb. I remember pikachu following me everywhereeeee and it was the cutest thing ever. I played pokemon crystal until the cartridge died on me. RIP, save function. ;____; /dead
Sadly GBC got shelved for GBA and Nintendo DS and the like and as I had the GBC bought for me almost right before GBA came out, my parents were like nope, not doing this again, so I wasn't able to play the other games and fell out of following pokemon since then. Would be nice to play the games for the first time on the DS but I feel like I'm too old school - the shiny 3DS graphics feel too weird to my liking. I like the GBC ones better. :'D
I also remember kids at my school being really into trading cards. I got a few of them when they quit collecting, so that was nice. xD
I remember that my grandmother said this not a month ago, "I'm glad I got you into Pokemon." We went to the Pokemon the First Movie premiere when you could get the ancient mew card (still have it). And I know a friend of mine gave me my first pokemon card in 1999-2000.
I got into the games at Pokemon, Japanese Version Ruby in 2003. Have gotten all the first games and the new ones since then and hope to get Pokemon Moon this November. But I'm surprised at in the 20 years of pokemon that I pretty much grew up with it. I bet we still have the VHS tapes from the original series from the early 2000's.
I like the nostalgia just kinda getting everyone, it's nice to reflect on where we were when we first started.
