I made a ticket about getting the same strain a second time, and since it's "not a glitch" they won't fix it
So, yeah, apparently it's not a glitch to get infected with a skin you already have. Okay.
I mean I understand that with the zapper, but you only have to wait four hours to zap again. It took FIVE DAYS to get to the final stage of a strain, so even if the event lasts until the end of the month, if I sign up for a random virus again, I may end up with the same strain again and have wasted all of Survival.
Cool.

Adding myself to the disappointed that the original glitch set some of us way back from where we should be. Signed up within 30 minutes of it starting but I'm more than half a day behind those that have already turned stage 8 when I should be no more than 3 hours behind. I keep checking hoping some how I'll suddenly speed up and be stage 8. Just really frustrated and it's taken a lot of my enjoyment away.

Same here. I signed up immediately after the news posting and my virus took about a day to show up.
I don't like that individual wait time relies on how many people are in the queue. why isn't it just a solid timer
Agreed, why is something like this relying on how many people are waiting in line. Set up on a timer would be much much better. I mean, I'm still stage 7 here. I've been overly patient waiting to be final stage, but it seems like it's never going to happen.

it&;s only an approximate wait time, and if there are a lot of people in the queue (which there are right now because the first set of strains finished up today), it can be significantly longer.

This^ So I'm over half a day behind because it's a successful event and a lot of people queued? Something very wrong with that. Especially seeing as I signed up quickly and ended up so far behind.

I'd be more patient if I didn't feel like half of the programmers (aka, pretty much everyone not named grelca) just gave up on this site. I'd be more patient if I didn't feel like the "fixes" are actually just band-aids on shoddy coding, and not actually fixes.
Also, making it longer because "it's popular" is the best way to have no one take part in events. This might be the worst idea ever.
I find this extremely frustrating as well, considering I have now been infected for what, 48 hours after waiting AT LEAST 24 - I am pretty sure it was longer than that? And as far as I can tell I am making no progression in my virus. I'll be lucky to continue through to get one full skin this year, especially since the million dollar Boobitis virus is an eight stage one. VERY annoying!
EDIT: By going to the healer I can tell that I have at least made some progression but damn if it isn't slower than a turtle in a tar pit.

we can definitely look into ways to update or change how the queue works based on your feedback, but i just want to say for all of you who think it's broken, it's not. i'm sorry that you don't like how it works, but it is 100% working as intended.
we are also working on something to let you cure your incomplete virus; not only for those that have gotten a skin they’ve already completed (generally the case with this is people have signed up for the instant random one, which is a gamble!) but also for those that got a skin (via random) that they really really don’t like (maybe they don’t like blood or have trypophobia)
like all of our holidays, we generally lower wait times the further into the holiday we go, so keep that in mind for kissing and wait times
If we have to wait in line so damn long (just because everyone is ending their virus at the same time), then they need to shorten the duration time between stages. I am all for being patient, but this is getting unreasonable and un-fun. Waiting a day just in the queue? And I have heard of people in the 20-24 hour range on stage 7. That is nonsense. Stages need to be restricted to 12-14 at most.
Waiting can be fun, but Subeta has a bad habit of not knowing when speeding things up is a good thing - as evidenced in previous plots and the time between steps. This is one of those times where waiting is good, but this is too long. You are killing the mood, Subeta.
Then, it is the silliest way to make something work. Why would I rush to take part in an event if, in the end, I'm going to be penalized for taking part in the first 6 hours or so.
Wait times shouldn't be "lowered at the end of the event" for something like that. Infection should be instant, or close to instant for this year's viruses. We have enough waiting to do BETWEEN stages, tyvm.
half of the programmers, aren't there only three? is it half of Keith or half of Mike that gave up?
you aren't penalized, you will still make it through the queue before someone who joins the queue after you. it is an interesting way to make it work though, it doesn't seem like it would have good scalability. Amber also said if you reclick something, you lose your spot in the queue and you go to the end of the line.
thank you for the explanations, I think something that'll cure incomplete viruses will make people happy. also looking into the queue or at least providing some more information on the page saying it may take up to x amount of time would be a good move! as always, you're the best :P
You're right, I don't like it that this slow is what is intended, I would prefer it be broken so that it could be fixed, but I just wanted to say thank you very much for posting and letting us know.

I don't remember this being the case in years past, so can I ask why it was changed to work this way? I don't recall anyone complaining about the times in past events really.

Ah yes, waiting eighteen hours to get from stage 0 to 1 is COMPLETELY LOGICAL.
Except it's not.
Because it's not everyone who has to wait 18 hours for that.
This still doesn't explain why it was made his way in first place. How is waiting around doing nothing supposed to be fun? How is this in any way a well-planned event?
No I agree with you there. I'm not sure what the actual average wait time is, but it should definitely be shorter. it's done like that to simulate waiting in line for a doctor, but it doesn't scale at all with busy times, and in the end it pisses people off for something that sounds like is demonstrating that we're waiting in line, but us as users can't really tell and it doesn't matter what data structure they use to let us get infected. a 2 hour timer also simulates that I've waited in a 2 hour line without having any negative side effects.
Shit, guys, does no one else think it's about the progression and curiosity, not unlocking 12 skins in a week? Just let the hideous disease slowly consume your body, and enjoy.
Between stages, the wait is equal for everyone. I'm okay with the wait between stages, so far. And, last year, I don't remember mentioning that they had to wait 24 hours for an infection. Did it happen for anyone? I only went for old strains, last year.
ANYWAY.
I'm not buying the "this is how this was planned" excuse, actually. If it was planned to go and make some people wait 2 hours, and some 18 hours because of the moment they clicked the button, that's a massive fail, design-wise. How did anyone felt it was a good idea?
I'm not pissed at the wait between stages, I'm pissed at some people getting their 2016 virus in less than 2 hours, and some people had to nearly wait a day for it. I'm annoyed because this should be a constant, and not a random variable.
Time between strains are constant, there aren't users who have 4 hours between stages and other 28 hours, so why did the wait between 0 and 1 was not the same for everyone?
Nobody said they wanted 12 skins in a week. People want the system to work the same for everyone.
