I Had the same problem for the longest time, I used the or (if I was frustrated) the
I finally got fed up and went on a huge CW spending spree and got the it cost me about 10,000 and I had several people come out of the woodwork offering me their copies for that amount. I was being a bit of an idiot and they could sense it. =.=' But now it is pretty much my standard item, male or female.

Lace is great for layering under gloves for depth or over gloves to give them a worn look! The "Formal Glove" Series is a good standby for layering. They may not look good on their own but they are easy to find and can cover sword handles or fix a messy jacket/pants transition. Is actually most useful since is is a nice neutral color.
Hands:
You can layer cheep junk footwear over nicer shoes or sandals to create awesome combinations. Are all great for layering on top of things!
Are great under jeans because of the loose laces!
