From every debate I've seen about auto refreshers, the staff knows we use them so when they really don't want us to use them, they set up links that expire after a certain amount of time (e.g. kissing links during the Pandemic expire every 30 minutes, so you can only auto refresh for 30 minutes before needing to interact with the site again). Auto refreshers were used heavily last year during the snowball fight. They definitely put a strain on the servers, but so far the servers have handled all the extra demand really well.

I was always really against them, but after a while, it was at the point of "if you can't beat them, join them" mentality.

One of my friends from another ping group is on Team Sticky. He has 30k snowballs, and he's a really good RSer. They seem to have a lot of really active people online right now. I'm hoping that tonight we can explode again as a team. That's how we got to the 70k lead we had this morning.

It's frowned upon, but I haven't heard of anyone getting into trouble for it! It's time to level the playing field :)
