so many beautiful bird items tc for Kyuriki is crying with happiness ;v;

These houndstooth and red items make a deeply hidden part of my Alabama-born mind want to say ROLLLLL TIDE.
I don't even like football.
(that aside, the items this year have been absolutely beautiful and I really love today's jacket!)

Red in Houndstooth looks like a play on Little Red Riding Hood for some reason. I know it's not, but I can't stop thinking that.
Whoooo does the snoohok ? I expect more wings from them.
- is the one responsible there :) She does a lot of wings! The skeletal wings during Morostide were hers, she does most of the revamps and things. I like her wings and they get better and better :)
I loved those skeletal wings, obviously ;) I have noticed the improvement ! HA wings are really hit or miss because of the odd angle. I've actually had a WIP of CW wings for years now because I'm scared of mucking it up. It's not that I've thought anyone was actually bad at wings, I knew otherwise (I mean come on, the pets prove otherwise). It's just when wings are plopped onto these strange HA's that things get odd.
- a lot of the time, we'll draw things on our bases with certain features enabled on our bases and it all looks fine, but then other people try things on and it just looks SO different and strange! I have about 12 different clothed HAs in my starter file for clothing, and still I can draw things that look right for me and wrong for other people! I have come to the conclusion that we just need to move on and keep trying to make beautiful things in all shapes and slightly different angles for each possible way that somebody could see something, so that everybody can find SOMETHING to really love.
And man, wings are hard. I've got into taxidermy recently and am learning a ton from mounting a pheasant, as well as viewing this other set of other wings I acquired. You can look at a thousand pictures, and then pick up a real set of wings and it's like you knew practically nothing. Amazing stuff.
The thing with the wings is the angle they're put at, more face-forward, similar to some of the facial items (though that might be because the face is angled slightly different from the rest of the body; and also when they are drawn in a set/with specific items it's hard to use them with other things). It's not that any of it is actually bad just a bit hard to work with such a stationary body while still trying to keep it more interesting and unique. Except for the feet. The feet are just terrible to draw things on as I learned by my attempt; resulting in only one person actually interested in them
That is why I wish I could get some real wings myself. I have looked at what feels like millions of pictures trying to understand them, and still don't feel comfortable with it. I'd love some to prop in front of me, at the angle and position I want, and then draw them a dozen times over.
- have you looked on ebay? I got a set of 7 single wings (jay, magpie, jackdaw, duck...and three more that I can't currently rememer) for real cheap that have been an amazing set of props to study. You do have to get over the squick-factor, though!
I'll have to do that ! I didn't know I would be able to. I can get over that feeling, though ! I was looking into getting into skull carving, which would most likely be a lot of roadkill pickings, to be honest, ahaha... No matter I'd have to deal with dead animal parts.
- hahaha, I've asked for a chest freezer for christmas so I can't start picking up things in order to evaluate them for taxidermy purposes. Skull harvesting is HARD - the easiest way to clean a skull is with a dermestid beetle colony, but getting and keeping the colony is the hard part! Boiling a skull can damage it, and burying it (the cheapest way) takes an absolute AGE. You can buy some skulls all cleaned up fairly cheaply, which is absolutely what I'd do if I were just getting into it!
Oooh that'd help you bunches ! I know not to boil or use bleach at all ! Diluted water is the way to go for minor cleaning + whitening. I would ideally get a colony, and it's not the most expensive thing to order online. But I've no clue how to maintain them, and I don't have the spare room. I'd totally bury them but I was reading it can take almost a year, sometimes longer ! I did read one person say they just put it under a bucket at the very edge of their backyard... But I'd be worried there isn't enough distance here. I looked into buying but all the ones I saw were out of my range for the moment. And naturally my hunter of a father won't let me have any of his skulls. XD
- boo! What is he doing with his skulls?! I have seen that just submerging a dirty sort of skull in washing up liquid (Dawn in the US) is the best degreaser/whitener. I haven't gotten that far yet, all the skulls I've had have been so small I've just kept them in the animal's head to preserve the shape!
Those are awesome ornaments. But man. I want them in my wardrobe ! fix this.
I can't deal with how cute the Snoohok artwork is, such a cute vicious little birb D:
This year's bird ornamnents and clothing are amazing, I can't wait to see what the rest of the season brings!
Ahahaha omg no poor snooburbs! Loving the ornaments xD The item picture for the Snoohok Food Gift and description is just too perfect lol
I thought and were food items, did not expect them to be ornaments O_o
