Aww that's cool! I have been having pretty bad luck with zaps lately as far as getting anything to turn any sort of color, much less something someone is looking for so I've been trying to scour the adoption pages and shelter either way to help out even more.
I've really discovered lately that the pet sections of this site have really taken a lot of my passion since coming back to this site after the years so I almost solely pay attention to this section of the forums and I scour the shelter almost constantly for not only myself but for others too.
It's honestly been very fun and rewarding helping at least a few people find some pets they are really wanting and seeing them happy. <3
Thats fine, I'm not in a hurry and I'll be doing some zapping myself as well :)
And I found a helper that could take Rydur :D
That would be me and the Zapper is stumping me too so I'm probably going to donate an angelic potion.
[flower=papillonmask]
Yeah, I wish my zapper would cooperate and stop making my subject insanely happy or extremely full. lol
But yeah, if you did that, I'm sure whoever the lucky winner is, especially if you decided to pick someone from our list, would certainly be very happy seeing how many people we do have here looking for Angelic pets. Although of course It's definitely not something you have to do by any means though.
While that would be very generous of you, and I'm sure it would make someone very happy, I don't know how we would decide who would get it. A raffle maybe? :S It wouldn't be fair for me/us to just pick someone to give it to, when there's many on the list.

I would like to be removed from the list for an Angelic Serpenth! A really lovely person named Monika, who is sadly leaving the site, was so very kind to me to use one of their Loyalty Boxes to help me get that pet. <3
Oh, awesome, that's very cool of them! I will take you off right away. ^-^
[tot=shadowfirelaw]
Yes I am so tickled silly right now. And thank you. If I think of something else at some later time I'll let you know. But I don't know of anything right now. Ill still be keeping sharp eyes out for everyone else as per my usual routine. <3
Hmm, I know she still has 1 more day to claim my offer of the Experiment pet, but still seems to be inactive after all this time which makes me kinda think.
Is there a possibility for us to perhaps check whether our listers are still active? Such as perhaps an "activity check" every now and then to see if people are still online often enough. I play on another site that does a similar thing to this on the forums. They have several gifting threads for the adoptables and typically the thread owners check to make sure their listers are still active and haven't rotted off by sending them a message and if they don't reply after some time they remove them from the list.
I'm kinda thinking perhaps doing something like this could be nice for multiple reasons including:
Listers who are no longer playing or rarely active get removed (Or bumped down/given lower priority). This would make it a bit more fair to those users who might want the same kind of pet and are very active rather than the priority just going to the "first on the list" but the account is so rarely active.
Also it would be a bit easier on our helpers. I certainly want to give people their dreams, but honestly, it does get inconvenient and frustrating to hold on to something for a long time (Even just 7 days) and the Lister is not active whenever I could actually move on to another person who may want the same pet, or even a different one but I have no room.
It is also saddening trying to go through the list trying to find what people want and when I do, see they aren't even around much anymore.
Perhaps that could be one thing at least, if someone doesn't get online within the 7 days their dream pet is offered by someone, they get removed from the list and if they wish to be put back on then all they'd have to do is reapply?
I don't feel that would be terribly unfair, it still gives them a chance to get the pet(s) they want, but they aren't left rotting on the list forever either and we for sure wouldn't be barring them from reapplying, it would just be a method to keep the list clean and "active" seeing how the offerer is not under obligation to give up the offered pet after the 7 days anyway. (Seeing how if the Lister does reply, but doesn't accept the offered pet they would typically be removed from the list anyway as per your already posted rules)
I know for one thing, Stony prolly should be removed from the list since they have received the two experiments they have been listed for. So perhaps when people receive the pet they want, they can be removed and if they are wanting another one, they can simply just reapply or state initially that they are looking for multiples, but if they don't specify we can just assume the one and then remove them when they get it, so it would be nice to remove them so we know and then in the event someone else wants the same pet, we don't end up just giving the chance to the same person and can offer it to the next person on the list.
More fair and less confusing for helpers too, since it can be a pain going back multiple pages to see if and where a post offering/accepting an offer is posted.
Sorry for the long block of text, I've just noticed the past few days that our list seems incredibly stale and this could make it so that if some of our listers do become inactive for the most part, that the helpers have an easier time since they won't be constantly keeping an eye out for pets that they may not need to due to the lister(s) being inactive.
Of course, this is your project so it's entirely up to you how you wanna run it. It's merely a suggestion for your consideration.
I think it is currently a rule that if they don't respond within 7 days then we can move onto the next person in the list (that's where I'm currently at with Nether, it's been four days) but I agree that maybe a regular activity check wouldn't be bad.
Yeah that's why I'm saying maybe doing that and simply removing them so that 1 we remember which people failed to get their pet in 7 days so that we can prioritize others on the list. Sometimes we have new helpers who might not know the difference.
Plus removing them from the list wouldn't mean we can't let them simply re-apply with no penalty if they do come back around again. Cause then we know they still want the pet, and that they are now active. By no means would I want us barring anyone from getting a dream pet, I was merely suggesting a way to weed out the inactive requests so that it's a bit more fair even to the newer requestees.
Since the rule states they get 7 days to claim, that to me means that if they don't then they either aren't active anymore, no longer want the pet (or doesn't like it) etc. And thus the holder no longer has obligation to give the pet to them, so no harm knocking them off the list until they decide they want to reapply for the desired pet in which we can happily just add them right back on. Then newer listers get a bit more of a chance but we aren't taking away the old listers chance either and we keep the list active and flowing. <3
Yeah, knocking them off the list after 7 days seems pretty reasonable. That rule basically was in place to prevent that exact thing; people who are inactive from clogging up the waiting list. Originally, I had planned to make it so that they dropped to the bottom of the list, but it became quickly clear to me as the thread grew that it was nigh impossible to keep track of who had registered first, so I had to drop the numbering system and move to a more loose system.
Another problem is that people often don't ping me when they do get their pets, so I have no real way of knowing when someone's gotten what they want, short of reading every forum post and assuming that everyone who was pinged got what they wanted, which isn't really a fair or functional system. Even if I spend a bunch of time checking everyone's profiles and seeing if they have the pets they've requested, there's always the possibility that they are looking for a second pet of the same type, so it's not a catch-all system. So I always need to hear from the person themselves if they're content with what they've gotten, and some people just drop off the face of the earth once they get their pets.
If I knew a perfect system, I'd be using it. >.<
So, I'll add two new rules.
And I'll try to maybe do activity checks (not entirely sure how I'll go about this, but we'll figure something out). Maybe with a weekly raffle of something that's kinda cool, or something like that. I'll think on it. :P
Edit: I've updated the rules. Hopefully they're improved. >.>
[tot=shadowfirelaw]
Right, that's why I mentioned the thing about if they do have 1 of the pet they requested, to go ahead and remove them from the list, but if they do decide they want to apply asking for another then it should be no problem to just go ahead and add them right back on. Then of course if someone applies specifically saying they want more than 1 of the pet, we could put like a x2, x3 etc kind of thing, but if not specified just go on the assumption that the request is for just one, then when they do get it, remove them.
As for the activity checks, I'd say possibly in a similar way as to when a pet is offered to them, they get 7 days to reply. So, just every now and then, maybe sending them a smail just requesting a reply to the message and if no response is received within however much time you'd designate, for example like 7 days or something then remove them. Of course the length of time you want to allot for replies is up to you.
I certainly understand trying to come up with a good working system and none of them can ever be perfect by any means. I just had those thoughts and felt I'd express them in the chance we might can at least make some decent improvements to the system.
I definitely think the two rules you added sound perfectly reasonable. They should definitely help us out in making our work easier while still giving them a chance to get their pets. I really appreciate you being willing and taking the time to hear me out on my thoughts. =)
Edit: Just re-read the rules seeing the new changes. That looks very reasonable to me and hopefully it works out positively for everyone. <3
Hello kids! Today is our first ever activity check! Whoo wants to win prizes?! (As with getting a pet, you have 7 days to respond to the activity check. If you don't respond within 7 days, you'll be dropped off the wait-list for now. You can re-apply anytime though!)
Here goes! Today's activity check is simple! What is your favorite pet color? As always, post in the thread and ping me with your answer to enter. :>

And ? Working now? :S For some reason it didn't want to ping you?
