Making her way back to the group of girls. () "I hope he is okay and comes back in a better mood. It was really hard on him, it seems."

I originally wanted a cat for a pet but Moony stole my heart. Moony is also warmhearted and affectionate. When he gets bigger he won't be able to stay in the dormitories. Do you have any pets?" she asked .

"I didn't know cat's were attracted to honeysuckle. But poinsettias can make them sick." Fade wasn't sure how relevant his knowledge was, but since they were on the topic of plants, he figured it was worth mentioning. "Maybe we should include how they can be fairly independent. Less time consuming than other pets." Considering the fluffy cat's coat, he thought again. "Well, in some cases."

It was Saturday, the full moon over and Magnus was back at Hogwarts looking worse for wear. His eyelids had sunken in a little and he was paler, gaunter than before. There were a few places on his body that looked suspiciously like magically healed bones and wounds--just a touch pinker than his skin tone- Most noticeable was his weight loss. His clothing hung a little more loosely on him.

His stay at Saint Mungo's had been particularly horrible stay too. Not just the nature of the stay or how violent he had been but knowing the pain he had caused deeply bothered him. He wanted to make it right to Gaia--offering to do a question and answer for her and then he wanted to leave Hogwarts forever. But that his parents flat out refused. They had visited him in Saint Mungo's and it had not been very pleasant there either. They didn't blame him for his wolfy behaviour, but they did blame him for ignoring requests to go to the hospital wing.

So a subdued Magnus made the long trudge to the Care of Magical Creatures Club waiting to see those he'd wronged and apologise--it wouldn't be enough, he knew that but he wasn't sure what else he could do. He sought out Gaia first, walking so quietly he barely made any noise. "I am so sorry, Gaia. So very, very sorry. You only asked one thing of me and I ignored it not once, but several times." His head was low but he dug a sketch book out of his pocket and presented it to her. "I know it won't make up for what I've done, but please accept this. I've been working on it whilst I was at Saint Mungos... well when I was coherent enough anyway, kept me sedated a lot... anyway, my take on werewolfness. I drew my best sketches and journalled as best I could. Thought since you have all those owl books that you'd like this."
He hung back, waiting for her reply as he scanned for people he needed to apologise to--like Fade and Rowan.

"Moony does look adorable," Paddy said to Beth (), "are there any treats he likes in particular? I've got a pet Barn Owl," she added, nodding towards the owl on her shoulder, "this is Mouse. She's a great companion, and a fantastic hunter too."

Paddy thought she could feel someone's eyes looking at her, and turned around. She noticed a very gaunt looking Magnus () standing by Gaia and waved to catch his attention.

Magnus saw Paddy's wave and nodded. He'd seen her shortly after he arrived and had apologised for his role in outing her. She forgave him too easily if you asked him. Her Uncle sent a chocolate cake for him too, which he found odd. He didn't feel deserving of it either and was wondering if he should give it away or not. He had managed to excuse himself telling her it was time for class--whether or not she realised at the time it was Saturday he didn't know, but he retreated to a small corner of the castle, beside a one eyed witch and worked on his sketching in the journal for Gaia whilst he bided his time for the club.

Paddy watched Magnus () for a little while, wondering if he would be confident enough to join the group, or if he wanted to see everyone individually first. He'd nodded in reply to her wave, but hadn't come over, so she turned her attention back to Moony who was still playing with Rowan's dog.

"Yes," Rowan told Sam. "He's that kind of dog, a really ancient Scottish terrier breed."

She nodded to Drifter to accept Paddy's treat, and he took it gently and then crunched happily. In typical fashion as a dog who had two Muggle cats for siblings, he saved a small piece to offer to Moony, who gave it a quizzical look. The two then went pack to playing "jump, flutter, and pounce," the game of their own making.

Rowan noticed that Magnus had also returned, but she wasn't sure what to do with him. Paddy was so much easier abd learning about werewolves was going to be a challenge, to say the least!

Seeing Rowan, Magnus crossed over to her but kept a distance enough to show he didn't plan on getting too close. It needed to be up to her to decide how close she wanted to get. "Rowan, he said, "I am so sorry. I didn't mean to scare you or Drifter. I should have left when I was asked. I screwed up big time." He didn't know what else to say. It didn't help that , Beth () and a girl he hadn't met ()were standing there as well. With his hands in his pockets and his head hung low, he blinked a few hot tears away.

Paddy grinned as Drifter took the treat and crunched it happily (), pleased that he didn't seem to hold any kind of grudge from her growling at him. Watching Magnus () approach, she thought about heading over to find out more about the snakes, to give him some space to talk to Rowan without anyone overhearing, but she didn't move quick enough. He looked so forlorn, but she waited for the others to say something first - he'd already had a conversation with her that morning, so it was only fair that the others got a chance now.

Watching Moony and Drifter playfully swatting at one another, Fade ran his hand along Chase’s back and enjoyed the low rumble of purrs it incited. Paddy had rejoined the group, and besides looking a little worse for the wear, seemed much better off than Magnus. Magnus! Fade’s heart jumped into his throat. He wasn’t exactly afraid of the other boy, but he felt like he probably should be.

Since the last Club meeting Fade had taken it upon himself to find as much information on werewolves as possible. Fortunately there had never been a case of someone turning simply from being licked by one. Swallowing the lump in his throat, Fade put on a brave face. Chase could tell Fade was worried about something and leapt up onto his shoulders, curling around the back of his neck like a scarf and continued to purr softly. From up here the cat seemed to take a particular interest in the table across the way designated for snakes, or rather wriggling, very fat bits of string. His paws began to knead Fade's shoulder subconsciously.

"Wow, it's so cool how different so many dog breeds are. I have to admit I don't know much about them, or cats either. I've always focused on reptiles, someday I hope to be a dragonologist, but..., Oh Hello!" Sam broke off seeing Magnus walking up to Rowan. The poor guy looked like 40 miles of bad road. Changing must have been harder for him than Paddy, all she had were a few bandages on her arms. Even though he looked like he hadn't eaten for a month of Sundays, Sam still thought he was mighty easy on the eyes, and ruthlessly quashed an impulse to offer him her lunch. I know pity would be the last thing I'd want if I were in his place she thought, but for once managed to keep her thoughts to herself.

Aderyn considered Fade's words () and nodded.

"I think it's a great idea to include things that can make them sick. I bet a lot of people don't know about things like that. I know that onions and garlic are really bad for cats, too, and that they shouldn't eat chocolate."

She scribbled the notes they'd come up with so far down on the parchment, creating a list of things cat owners should avoid giving their pets.

Magnus hadn't even noticed Fade was there as well. Wishing he could crawl into a hole, took a deep breath. "Can't say enough how sorry I am Fade. Just tried to talk to me and I went off the rails." He winced as he vividly remembered the entire thing. "I don't blame you or nothin' if you'd rather I don't come near you again." He nodded to the girl. "'Llo," he said in a listless voice. "Name's Magnus, resident jerk. Anyway, I just wanted to tell Fade and Rowan how sorry I was."

Gaia was in the midst of throwing a cat treat at () Fade's head for Chase to catch when she felt a shift in the air.

Magnus was beside her at once. She listened intently without any expression on her face, accepted the journal, and waited patiently for Magnus () to finish. "I know what I asked of you, but I also know who you are and what the night makes of you. First of all I think you need to apologize to Athena. She has been waiting for you a little hurt you took off. I think she likes you, she is a lone wolf, like that." Gaia grinned and winked at her friend, showing him a little. "It is okay you know, I am here to help I told you that, but you do need to curb that anger of yours. It cannot happen again with any animals, pets, or you know, humans. I don't want to be forced to use my wand." There was concern for her friend, but she was responsible for the students of her club... ALL students; something Gaia took very seriously. "Next week we will talk about werewolves with more detail. I wanted to give you and some time to heal and rest before being bombarded by questions and uncomfortable situations. If you are both okay next week we will take some time to learn about werewolves AND animagus."

Chase caught ’s treat expertly from the air with one lightning fast paw. Fade couldn’t help but cringe as he was used as a prop to keep the cat stable. After finishing his treat Chase squinted at Magnus (()) skeptically from the safety of Fade’s stinging shoulders, but made a point to stay put when Fade leaned forward. “Naw, man. I’ve been through worse.” He shrugged and cracked a small grin but it disappeared when he realized maybe he had just made another insensitive remark. Instinctively he bopped himself in the forehead with the palm of his hand. Chase was quick to hit him in the face with his tail as well.

Spitting out some cat fur, Fade held up a hand to defend his face from his cat’s tail lashing assault. “You should stay. You can help us with this list of toxins for cats. If you feel like it.” He sounded hopeful. Turning to regard Aderyn (()) and Emmy (()) they were very much a part of the cat table team and they should have a say to be fair. “If that’s cool with you guys, I mean…” Immediately Fade’s hair washed from pale blue into a reddish purple. Being social was hard work, Fade was starting to sweat.

"It is time to finish setting your tables and letting your pets know someone else is coming around. If you need help with snakes () Sam can help figure out your snake needs, for cats () Emmy can help, pups and griffins ( ) Rowan and Beth can help. For those of you needing help with your owls please let me know. As you can see they are all fed and have their own branch or stand. Some may choose to huddle together which is normal for the smaller owls to do."

Gaia took a look at her notes. "Please jot down all the facts you have gathered and write them all on your table parchment. Once this is done we will start taking turns to visit each table." Making a face that can only be described as being angry at a sour lemon Gaia continued "I will need assistance of toad and frog hoarding." Shuddering and a little green looking she continued... "There are some waiting by the edge of the lake. Some of you might now I am not very good with these creatures... if anyone is comfortable please bring them gently to the last table at the end of the club tables and add them to the pond type tank there. Please put the screen lid on top. This is to avoid one of them being caught by an owl."

With that new parchment rolls showed up on the tables and empty boxes were placed in front of the tables by a wave of Gaia's hand "Accio box" one by one. "These boxes are to put away whatever items you do not need or are not using. I will collect those and take them away for better use of space."

Aderyn looked at Fade () and Magnus (), smiling at them with a nod.

"Absolutely! The more the merrier."

Setting the parchment aside for the others to contribute facts to, Aderyn listened as spoke. Once the girl had finished talking, Aderyn glanced at her group mates.

"I'll be right back - I'm going to help out with the toads. I don't mind them at all."

Rushing off, Aderyn jogged off toward the lake, scooping up a toad in each hand and holding them close to herself cor safety as she ran back up to where the club was meeting and depositing them in the proper enclosure, securing the lid into place so the toads were safe from the owls overhead.

Gaia noticing Aderyn () running off to the lake returned her attention to the owls and whispered to herself [i]"they will not hurt you, you are bigger than them, you can magically protect yourself... UGH I really don't like frogs."

Magnus nodded in disbelief that she called him a friend. "I wish to do that was gonna speak to you about it. I'll go see Athena after I speak with Rowan and Fade, if that's okay. Gotta take calming potions on full moon days now. Won't go anywhere but class on those days. I'll think of other things to help. Thanks for the understanding and forgiveness." He wanted to hug her but thought better of it.

Over with Fade he watched as Chase did normal cat shenanigans. He silently wondered where Kippers was. He was sure the cat had been in Gaia's care. The cat would come to him most likely whenever she was finished doing what she was doing. His heart dropped when Fade forgave him casually. Wow, hadn't expected that. Magnus' countenance lifted a little from the downcast feelings he had been experiencing. "Thank you," he said with a crack in his voice that said he was close to crying. He wiped his eyes with his sleeve. "Don't know much about cats really. See, I was living in a muggle orphanage till I was attacked at nine. They didn't really had animals there, except some stray dogs that wandered over for scraps. Kippers is the only pet I've ever had and hadn't had 'er for long. Got 'er on me 11th birthday."

Heart skipped as Fade asked the others if they wanted him around. Incredulously one of the girls already said she didn't mind but ran off to frolic with the toads before he could say anything. "Give me a mo, be right back meself." He went over to the owls picked out a treat and called Athena. She landed on his shoulder and nibbled the treat from his hand. "Sorry, wasn't feelin' well. Forgive me?" The owl perched on his shoulder so he figured that was a yes. "Listen, gotta go back to the cats, okay. You can come with me if you want, just can't spook 'em." Owl on his shoulder he returned to Fade and the cat table.
