Does anyone else wonder why Hermione was so inept at Dueling Club? Couldn't she have easily used her superior magic skills on Millicent Bulstrode and avoided physically fighting her altogether? Do you think she fought her on purpose to get near her for the Polyjuice Potion?

Honestly I always thought that deep down, Milicent probably started throwing punches first, and Hermione was intent on defending herself. Remember, she was a muggle born, and had a small transition between remembering that she could do magic, besides solving things a muggle way. (Example, in the first book saying "there's no wood" to light a fire instead of using a spell.) Even though this is the 2nd book when this happens, she might have temporarily forgotten. Then, as she was in the scuffle, she used the opportunity to snatch the hair.

Moaning Myrtle was killed by the basilisk. If she spends all of her time in the girls' bathroom, then she must have noticed it with Ginny right? Why doesn't she say anything?

I assumed that all the stall doors were closed and when the book was thrown, Myrtle was behind a closed door and by the time she could have seen who it was, Ginny had already left.

Why do you think Rowling omitted Hermione from the Polyjuice Potion spy mission when she was the brains behind the operation?

I think that JK liked to leave one of the 3 out of important plot things just to have less loose ends. Like leaving Ron out of the time travel bit in book 3.

I am okay with extending (haven't read quidditch yet!)

Hermione must have fought her for the polyjuice potion (though I cannot remember her dueling her. Ugh! Terrible to have such a bad memory!)

I liked a spoof I saw once where one of the wizards used the time travel gimmick to go back in time and kill Tom Riddle before he went to Hogwarts. Some evil just isn't meant to be. Or shouldn't be. But sometimes my mood is more forgiving, so don't hold me to that ;)

Your last point is something I've never thought about before. It's great!

Book Club will continue during the term break. Is everyone cool with devoting that time to Quidditch Through the Ages?

Also, there will be new club captains for next term. I have nominated and , if either or both of you are interested in putting in applications once the official announcement is made. Anyone who is interested in running Book Club can apply!

Glad to hear it! I figured someone who was already an active club member would be the best choice.

Thank you! I'm just beginning to reread it myself.
