Hi everyone, I'm Jace and I'm new here. I'm an 18 year old trans kid and a newish YouTuber. :) I'd love it if I got to make a few friends and got some help around the site.

actually yeah. How does Avatar customization work?
You can find wearables throughout the site - the current site event is Morostide, it's a Halloween based event. You can earn lots of freebies to wear, the Morostide forums have some more information.
You can click on the Trick or Treat (TOT) links throughout the site, on user profiles/signatures to get items, many of which are wearable.
Once you have wearable items, you can put them into your wardrobe from your Inventory.
You can then proceed to the wardrobe and wear them.
That's the most basic outline, but you can give it a trial play and let me know if you have any more specific questions :)

Thank you! I also am a bit confused on items. How do I know if an item is good or not? And is it hard to obtain any items?
Welcome to subeta! It can be a bit daunting, but most people are more than willing to help!!
You can do a "Search Shops" to see an item's value. It's in a drop-down under "Commerce"!
Do quests to make points (sp) and to receive items! I always do Shinwa and Wizard quests! On the week-end there's always a certain set of quests for increased prizes and special rewards! This week-end it's Quenton, but only for a few more hours.
There's so many aspects to this site, I'm sure you'll find something you enjoy doing!! Have fun!!
Can you clarify what you mean by 'good'? When you hover over an item, you can preview the wearable to see what it would look like on. Lizzie has mentioned how to shop search if you are referring to value of an item.
If you are not sure of an item function, whether it is a book that can be read, or toy that can be played etc. you can also look at SubetaLodge, as I linked you :)
That site has pretty comprehensive information about all items.
