Well it's 2:39 am here and i am still awake. Next door neighbours are having a rather loud party. Called the cops at 2 am as I was tired of it and I am working tomorrow and have to get up at 6:30 om. While I am typing this the cops finally arrive... I still can get a little of 4 hours of sleep....

It's my 16 year anniversary with hubby. Not wedding anniversary, but we celebrate it because our family began long before the vows were said, so it's a very important day! I have some last minute running around to do once my oldest gets home from the PSAT. But I will keep peeking in!

Good afternoon all!! Happy wednesday. We had such nice weather yesterday and today cold, foggy and no sun :(

So we took our youngest to get her eyes checked yesterday and be fitted for glasses. No biggie right? Well turns out it could be a biggie. The optometrist saw 'something' and didn't tell us what until we agreed to have her eyes dilated and played it off as a first time exam thing. Apparently she saw that the optic nerve in her right eye is slanted/tilted. That's when she told us it could be anatomical or there could be an issue. It's just in the right eye, unilaterally it usually means it's anatomical. Had it been bilateral it would be have been a trip to the hospital immediately as it's almost always a sign of neurological swelling and issues. The problem is if it's Unilateral and NOT anatomical it's indicative of a tumor.

The problem is the optometrist was acting very cagey. No straight answers and the ominous 'Do you have medical insurance' question in the middle of the exam! Um, what? We answered and asked why and she didn't say anything other than 'I was just wondering'. We didn't leave there with any straight answers, or anything but a referral to an opthamologist for a scan of the eye, who when we called for an appointment for the recommended scan told us they don't see children in their office! WHAT??!?

I am freaking the heck out and trying to be the sane calm one. My husband completely stressed and checked out. Shut down. Refuses to talk about it.

My question for you all is have you ever experienced anything similar? Know anyone with an anatomically tilted optic nerve? Or worse, known anyone who had a tumor on/near/in the optic nerve?

She and I mirror health issues very similarly. She's extremely nearsighted as am I. She gets absence seizures as did/do I. I have read the tilted optic nerve is hereditary, I've not been diagnosed with it, but I have to wonder if I have one and it's never been stated because it wasn't bilateral and therefore not cause for concern. Even the Optometrist we saw yesterday said some doctors won't mention the tilted optic nerve if it's unilateral.

It's frustrating and scary and while I hunt up an opthamologist that will do this scan the optometrist recommended, I am slowly losing my mind.

So please forgive me if I go silent for a bit while we figure this out. I'm around just not completely here.
