I've not watched either film, but I've seen the characters around, and I really like those au designs! Couples are double (price), so that's pretty straight forward. For the posing I've got a couple of images in my head already, so we'll see what comes out least stiff. (laughs) It'll be good to challenge my comfort zone either way~

(Also - maybe it's odd but I really appreciate seeing a platonic bro couple? Friendship (that doesn't pine itself into romance (as if that's somehow Peak Relationship Status(TM)) is so underrated, it's almost / kinda comforting to see it pop up. ~)

and thank you!! i'm uh...really invested in this au, i've been writing these characters for six years and it's time i showed them some love. they do eventually become what would loosely be considered a couple (after several months of therapist/client stuff and then many years of friendship), but i've always valued their friendship way more than that and i want to honor it! i always try to write things super organically, how i would want things to play out in my own life, and since i'm demi i can't write romance without the friendship aspect of it being really emphasized. (plus hiccup is a Professional and always puts his career before his feelings.)

also DEFINITELY watch the movies (at least the first two httyd movies and rise of the guardians), they're so wonderful. i love what dreamworks did with them, they're such great coming of age stories. plus rise is so underrated since it came out around the same time as frozen and imho was animated way better.

That's super lovely though! It does sound/feel like a really natural AU. I just really appreciate a visible, prominent friendship side of things. : ahh thank you!! i'm all about organic writing, i really strive for things to feel as natural as possible...and while i like writing sad things, i'm a sucker for happy endings. uvub

i feel you on the 3d thing, some of my favorite movies are 2d (treasure planet is SO UNDERRATED) and i feel like a lot of recent movies lose the heart of their story just for animation gimmicks. as a writer, the story is way more important to me than the animation (even though i crow about rise's graphics because they are so much better than frozen's), so rest assured that httyd and rise are very story driven and not gimmicky!! the original authors of the books were integral parts of the production process, and dreamworks does a pretty good job of sticking to source material, so their stories are still very much intact. if you ever have some free time, i have a digital copy of rise and would be happy to set up a rabb.it stream so you can see it!

Treasure Planet is literally my favourite film - I've adored it ever since I first watched it? The art? The aesthetics? The character designs? HECK YEAH. It's one of the few films I can watch relatively often without getting bored. ❤️ That's interesting then! I've checked with my brother & he owns the first two HTTYD films, so I'll see if I can make time to watch at least the first one later this week (it'll be the second film I've watched this week, which is a lot by my standards (laughs)). And thanks for the offer! I had to go & look up what rabb.it was (laughs) Though I need to be in a very particular mood to watch films, so we'll see how long it takes to get through the dragon films first! (:
