I did not but my youngest two siblings did! I was unoriginal with my OC's they were all real animals or ones I made up, not dragons or unicorns or anything real. <--- LOL

South America has some cool ones I think? As for the US, you've got some pretty cool cryptid vibes going on over there, don't you? It's not mythological creatures ala dragons & phoenixes (though thunderbirds are American, aren't they?), but the stories are pretty neat anyway. o:

I've never had many friends, so I used to play pretend out in the woods a lot (laughs) I both 'used'/befriended characters I liked (pkmn etc.) & made my own. I also had pet rocks & things like that. I really wanted to care about things that cared about me, as well as save the world I guess. (laughs) It's cool with non-super-fantastical OCs too though! You still had your creative outlets, and if they brought you joy then they did their job as well as mine ever did. ~

Cryptid animals and things might be from South American cultures more I think? I'm not sure entirely what you mean by cryptic though. I'm going down the biology path with the word and you might not be meaning that. Thunderbirds are from Harry Potter-verse I'm not sure they are a legitimate cultural bird in the United States. I mean, I'm not aware of it at least. I do think thunder-birds are super cool though! I thought about making one in a CW but it's SO HUGE.

That is sad that you didn't have lots of friends as a kid. :( I just had my siblings and one close real life friend growing up. I had plants that I claimed as my own and would lovingly tend them - does that count sort of like a pet rock? I love your idea of saving the world!! lol I Love also that OC's can help us adventure without actually doing it. :D

Oh yes, the Thunderbird from Native American culture. I'd forgotten about that since my HP was fresh on the brain! LOL I have actually seen those totem poles in RL up in Alaska as well! head-desk I should know these things! I will say that outside of that, long standing historical and cultural creatures don't really exist as a main stream knowledge in the USA. The United States is not that old of a country and the Native American Indians believed in a lot of spirit animals and a lot of mythical creatures or revered specific land animals (like bears, deer, hawks, eagles, beavers, otters, etc). I would say if you ran a poll in USA for the most well known mythical creature that originates from the USA, most would say none or bald eagle. lol

Your cacti is dead!? lol That is so sad! I am HORRIBLE at succulents. I kill them all relatively quickly. I am really really a bad cactus person. How will the dragons help you save the world?
