Good afternoon everyone!

I just wanted to say thank you for everyone being so patient while we worked on the special abilities system for the group. We are constantly trying to improve the experience here, which means sometimes our systems need a revamp. I'm glad to be able to finally announce the new system!

I'm sure some of you have noticed that a new Special Abilities Description List. This list includes all of the approved special abilities and their descriptions, attributes, and limitations. Anyone wanting to use a special ability will need to stick to these descriptions. Any variances from the descriptions listed will need to be approved by an admin prior to use. You'll note that there was a couple of changes to our approved special abilities list. We have removed part-mermaid and lector from our list and have added a new special ability: part-goblin!

Starting the beginning of the next break, members will be required to "register" their special abilities. Registration will only be open during the term break and will close once the next term starts. Registration will be simple; you will fill out a small questionnaire with details on your character. If you have any special variances to the descriptions provided you'd like to have reviewed by an admin, this is the time you will present them to be approved/rejected. Any member who does not register their ability before the next term starts will not be able to use a special ability for that term. This includes new members. If a new member starts in the middle of a term, they will be unable to use a special ability until the next registration is open.

Members will still only be able to have one character with a special ability at a time.

There is also a new restriction in regards to learned abilities (legilimens, occulmens, and animagus). Members who wish to use learned abilities without needing approval from an admin will be required to have their character either be in their 6th or 7th year of school. If you have a compelling reason for your character to be able to use it at a younger age, you may present your reasoning during registration for approval.

We are hoping that this will negate the need for us to have to limit how many people are allowed to use a specific ability at a time. However, if we find that there is a special ability that becomes overabundant, we reserve the right to impose a maximum amount allowed at that time.

Please note that this system applies to characters with special abilities only. Characters with no special ability can be created at any time during the term, and there are no restrictions on how many characters with no special ability members may have.

If you have any questions or concerns with the new system, please let me know! I'd be happy to answer them as best as I can. I hope to get the general rules for the group updated to include the new system soon as well.

The House Cup standings were as follows: 1st - Slytherin - 4,676 2nd - Ravenclaw - 2,386 3rd - Gryffindor - 1,682 4th - Hufflepuff - 1,493

And our top three scorers for this term are as follows: 1st - Fable - Slytherin - 435 points! 2nd - poppet - Slytherin - 380 points! 3rd - MerlinPendragon - Slytherin - 379 points!

Also our top scorers for the other houses are as follows: Gryffindor - Paddy - 340 points! Ravenclaw - Raven - 280 points! Hufflepuff - ibook - 212 points!

Thank you everyone that participated this term for such great work! We are always very grateful to see such a number of people enjoying the game we provide for everyone. Congratulations Slytherin for dominating the game this term!! We will work on getting prizes out to everyone as quickly as possible, though it looks like they may not go out until Saturday evening at the latest.

The Special Ability Registration will be opened on Sunday and remain open for the duration of the break. We have not yet determined the start date for next term, but we will let you know as soon as it is decided.

Also just a heads up, I will be changing the permissions on the forum groups sometime soon to "Admin Approval" so that we can get the new members into their correct house groups since the invite bug is still in effect. I will prod to see if we can get it fixed once again. Until this is fixed, we will not be holding any group activities (as we did with this term).
