Odd, I haven't noticed any of these at all. When did this start? My HA has been grey since last night and I saw mention of this being a new event but I can't find where that's posted or how long it lasts. Does that have to do with these REs?

I had to spend some time reassuring a friend of mine when he got one of these that it was just an RE that didn't mean anything, I don't mind helping him, but I do kind of bristle at these obvious spooky REs that mess with your head, particularly when there's no news post to point to like "it's cool this is when they showed up."

Plots and world building are cool. Playing with people's anxieties and paranoias are not tbh.

Yeah, there are people who don't like zombies, but there are also people who love zombies. There are people who love bugs, and people who hate bugs. There are people who love murder mysteries and people who are squeaming when watching CSI

I'm not sure there are people who are super hype about feeling followed in the dark. If there are, I'll eat my hat or something! I think people are more hype about the plot, than the topic of the plot. The problem is that well, I'm not at ease with the topic of the plot. I'm not even expecting things to be changed, I'm more "whoa, Subeta, slow down, I actually had a panic attack while walking a mile after I went amiibo shopping"

I don't want every single event on Subeta to be predictable, that would be silly, and that would be boring.

Yeah, I understand I only got it once, but it's not even the one I personally got that got me worried the most. It's the third one I posted, which I've only seen because people got it.

I TRY. I tried to take it in jest, I tried to ignore it, I tried a lot of things. I just felt like I needed to voice concerns,

I don't think it's asking too much for a new post to say 'something's going on, keep an eye out, I keep feeling like I'm being watched when I walk around Centropolis' or SOMETHING to link the REs to an event. I didn't even get it? I just thought it was the staff adding new REs that poked about people being up late, cos... most REs are that Random Events, I don't really associate them with plots... Particularly since how to get the zombie strains has been changed and no longer involves an event.

Sure you can compare it to gore etc... But we KNOW when Pandemic is coming around, there's almost always a lead up to it, you don't log in to super realistic gore on the news page or anything.

This isn't about being grossed out, this is about not communicating with people when this kind of thing is closely linked to mental illnesses, things you can't just be logical about all the time, where no matter of telling yourself 'it's just a plot' can stop your head going haywire.

Yep, if you got one of the REs about being tired or something then your avatar will get grayed out over time. This is just the beginning of the event, so this is pretty much all we know so far.

Making a news post wouldn't have hurt anyone so I was actually surprised to see that staff decided to add these Random Events without any official announcement. And no, some well hidden NPC post on the forum doesn't count as an official announcement, staff shouldn't expect us users to check the forums daily, same goes for hints on social network sites as well.

I haven't gotten any RE's that are even associated with a new plot. I didn't know anything was going on until I came to this part of the forum.

Maybe a decent solution, though it might be a coding nightmare, is to take into account these issues with future random events and have a hide/show option? Like there's a content warning for anxiety, which doesn't spoil it, it just lets you know what you're reading might be kind of dodgy for you mentally. Obviously this doesn't help for people who've already seen this, but for future events/later in this one it would probably help. c:

adblock has custom block feature to block certain text or image. you can use that to block uncomfortable random event message ;)

I think my peeve is that it was said on the forums, and not on the news, which is my go-to source of information for what is actually happening. If it hadn't been said anywhere, yeah, I'd get your point.

I know you were trying to go and generate hype using mystery, but it didn't work out that well to me. I'm not working this weekend, but I work on Monday, so to avoid myself getting other panic attacks or any bad consequences, I'm just going to avoid the site for a while. And, it sucks because I like and care about Subeta.

Agreed. We had a newspost within hours of pandemic in 2009, we didn't really have to comb the forums for information. I am still very surprised we have nada, nearly 36 hours after I got the random event

The random event I personally got made me uncomfortable, but it wasn't the one that made me panic.

Just seeing the text of the message on the forums was enough to get me to "nope" out of a thread, and think about it when I was walking home yesterday, and not feeling ok.

I really appreciate your intervention, though. Your intention was nice, but it's not something that will work in my specific situation, unfortunately.

While I'm not bothered the REs, I do feel it's a bit too realistic for the sake of subeta, especially the first one. Usually, in other events and plots, we would get news updates and backstories before going into potential triggers, and most of those triggering events were very subeta/fantasy-bound. I'm not saying it's less of a trigger for people if it's less realistic, but since things like this are unavoidable sometimes, it could've been handled better.

I have to say the entire thing with the sudden REs just feels a bit weird in an not-so-amusing way. Not to mention the frustration among people about the fading HAs. I understand the element of surprise, but the fading HAs (often accompanied by pixelated edges which might be a different problem) do make people think that subeta is broken, especially when the wardrobe is having so many bugs at the moment.

I officially have two friends who I'll keep keeping posted for things, because they're both likely to panic if they catch something like that RE on a bad day. But I can't say I expect anything else from subeta anymore, it's not the first time things like this have been shrugged off, even though it's easily avoided...

, if this was supposed to be a surprise entirely, how comes we've been getting 'lawwwl hinnts' from staff since last month? I'm not even paying attention and I knew we were getting some kind of plot this month? You can't get your staff to stop dropping hints about things that are supposed to be a surprise, then what's the point in avoiding an actual announcement?

Gotta love all the people who don't quite seem to understand that to block something you need to already know it exists, this isn't about being squicked out by an image you don't like it's about your brain fucking with you AFTER you've already seen it, no amount of adblocking is going to fix that shit.

i'm so sorry for your unfortunate situation. it sucks to be in your shoe. maybe you could walk with a friend or a group of friends when going home. that should make you feel safer. carry protective equipment like pepper spray and wear something light and comfortable for running. that can give safe feeling if you have anxiety.

@ Shalashaska The "hints" dropped by staff members were that something was going to happen, which has no relation with what, how and when it was going to happen. That's the surprise.
