For the shading -- I'd suggest one or two layers of shading only and no highlights (highlights tend to make the sheer plastic-y when overlayed with other things).

Try putting them on different layers so that you can control the opacity of each, as opposed to clipping everything onto the main sheer layer. This shall prevent flatness (shading being darker, but not really 'darker' in the sense that it wouldn't create more depth. Gosh am I making sense, im sorry ;;;;; )

One last tiny thing, the shape of the shawl seems a liitle uneven, as if it wasn't following the 3/4 silhouette!

Lol thanks! It was originally one of the designs I made up for your design contest! ^^ So it's all thanks to youuuu lol. I made a whole bunch so I'm planning on trying to bring them to life myself! I'm gunna have to look up some tutorials or something lol, I was just doing lines on one layer, color on one, and then shading on the 3rd. Now y'all are tellin me there are even more?? Oh gosh I'm gunna die. Good to know about the highlights though, thanks for the tip! Oh yeah, I see what you mean about it being uneven. I'll see if shrinking the left side will help.

LOL! It's okay I am still experimenting with them myself, but in truth I love them! They make my life soo much easier. The link is to Anime art, but she uses a lot of techniques I find useful in CW art. Moondustdreams Youtube actually has some videos on how to shade as well. I found her just the other day on there. ❤️

I think you're misunderstanding, I don't want to confuse you! x: You may create any amount of layers in your drawing (for example, one layer can be the lineart, another one for the orange color, another one for the purple color, etc). When you give Subeta the final overlay, the image is a .PNG; Subeta will see everything merged in one image (lineart + colors + shading + etc). I don't know if that clarifies your doubt; excuse my English o:

I would for sure make it more fabric shaped. That should make a big diff.

Also to add on with the layer thing. You can do it all on one, but then it will be challenging/impossible to do easy recolours. So unless you know for sure you wont be dont worry about if you combine. But if you do want to recolour, do each shade on a different layer. So then when you recolour you can just fill each part with the new tone you want.

I tend to do lines on one, base on another, then each layer after that is a new level of shade. From 3-5 works best. But you can of course do more, just no less than 3 :)

Lol ok! For now though, I just made some tweaks to it and I think it looks a lot better! I'm uploading it to photobucket rn so I can post it here for more crit XD I added shading! YAAAAAAY! It doesn't seem like a lot though so I'm worried I didn't do enough?? but more seems like too much? Idk. I can't seem to figure a way I like to have it fall more naturally so I'm hoping that my rework and shading will help make it look less stiff.

I ended up scraping it unfortunately :( Figured there wouldn't be enough interest to cover the cost of the commission and I had really fallen in love with the example you gave me /shrug. Oh well, saved me 2k csc lol.
