Flight Rising - I can't remember how many slots you have but you get two dragons immediately upon joining, one you can customize and one that's random.

Chicken Smoothie - Varies based on how many pets are available that month, but there are no slot or anything so you can have thousands of pets total. If my math is right you can adopt 74 pets the moment you join this month. There are a lot of pet sites with a model like this. Eldemore and Gothicat World come to mind but I'm sure there are more. People make characters, draw art, etc for their pets on these sites sometimes.

Leopets - I'm not positive but I think you start with 4. However pet slots are very easy to get with in game currency up to the high 30s to 40s. After that its hard but possible to get them and usually the Advent Calendar gives you at least one free pet slot. Leopets is extremely character focused so its a good comparison for pet stuff. Leopets is Subeta's biggest competition for scooping up the Neo refugees. They only open sign-ups once a month so Subeta has an advantage if staff actually want to you know, take advantage of it.

Aywas - 10 slots upon joining. Newbie packs may come with pet slot items but I'm not sure. Slots are dirt cheap and amassing a liar of thousands is easy. Aywas is not a traditional pet site but making characters, buying art, coding layouts, etc for pets is very common.

Acitius - 12 slots upon joining on 3 accounts for a total of 36. 4 additional pet slots for $6, which can be purchased 3 times per account for a grand total of 72 pets. Acitius is more of a traditional pet site like Neo, Subeta, and Leopets.

Goatlings - 10 slots upon joining. Upgrading your account, a 1 time purchase for only $10, gives you 10 more slots. Extra slots beyond that are $5 each (or less if you buy a bigger package of cash shop currency), with no limit on how many you can buy. Again Goatlings is more of a traditional pet site.

Marapets - I'm not sure how many you get upon joining but extra slots are £4 each and can be bought 40 times. Again, traditional sort of pet site. However I don't think you can really do any coding or character development on-site, but I could be wrong.

Subeta is way behind on the whole pet slot thing, considering its supposed to be a pet site.

Your lair has room for 15 dragons when you first join FR. Disregard that, I messed up. It's 10 at the start.

Every expansion nets you 5 slots and you can expand it to a maximum of 145 with time (I believe?), but it gets a lot more expensive as you progress.

And, back on topic, I will never say no to more pet slots, as long as they're fairly obtainable by everyone.

I think the only site that comes to mind that missed is Misticpets. I don't actively play so I can't give you exact maximum numbers but I've been told you can basically have as many pets as you want-- I know of at least one user 67 pets, and I've heard there's people who have more (Idk their usernames, though, so I can't confirm).

Misticpets is also a site that rips basically everything subeta does, but they have a lot more pet stuff going on, so if anyone's going to make a good bounty of neo-refugee's it's probably them (since subeta's had hearts, they've apparently gained pet likes -laugh-.. that wasn't there a few months ago) or leopets.

Now's the time to get on board that pet train because I really doubt ex-neopets user's are going to be looking for avatar sites :x;;

[edit] Editted to add, you can have at least 100 pets on Mistic (found a user by accident lol). And slots are $5 each.

I wasn't sure on the limit, but I know the pet slots are cheap because I bought three last weekend :D

Subeta isn't that bad on how much maximum slots one can get, but that's about it.

It has amongst the lowest free slots, along with Misticpets (Which was 5 when I joined) and Leopets (Which is application-based and applications JUST CLOSED)

Finally, it's also pretty based considering the price of the slots. Yeah, it's an improvement since they used to be 60$ each, but I'm looking at things and wow, it's expensive on Subeta.

I was totally unaware in regards to other pet sites as I gave up trying since NeuroGalaxy or whatever it was called but with the numbers posted here I even more think we should have an increase in pet slots here, not only for us active users but also to encourage potential new users to come over and stay. Sure, Subeta has other things to offer besides Pets but that probably applies to the other sites listed as well?

The only problem I see at the moment is that, with the disaster on Neopets, we actually would need that change asap and I'm not sure if staff will make that happen. "Soonâ„¢" sadly isn't fast enough here I'm afraid and with that we are going to miss a great opportunity for more users and site activity.

Marapets is 12 to start and you can buy 30 slots for 42 total (unless they've raised it in the last 6 months). They don't currently have coding for pet profiles but from the recent updates I've heard about the might add that option eventually since a few users do make stories/art for their pets.

Lol, I don't think I'd ever do pet stories/etc on Aywas since I think I have 2784 pets out of 2915 slots there XD I was aiming to collect 1 of each species + colour though (I think they're up to 7000 official species and colour combos?). Slot costs there vary but they're roughly 1.5k insite currency per slot (so pretty much dirt cheap).

I didn't realize how low Subeta's free pet slots are until I just really sat there and thought about it. Leopets is meant to be just like old Neopets so starting with 4 there is to be expected (and you can easily get more on your first day) but I don't know if Misticpets has a good excuse since I don't play it. Subeta's got no reasoning for such a small, weird number because "we said so" doesn't count.

After buying a bunch more slots on Acitius and planning my purchase of an account upgrade on Goatlings, I know for sure I could never justify the price Subeta's asking for a single slot. The best part is that I play Subeta faaar more actively than either of those other pet sites. Here I do the whole character thing, have my beloved TCs, and get involved with the community a little bit. Acitius and Goatlings? I hoard names and make the pets a pretty species/color, I don't even play games or use the forums. I think that says a lot. I don't expect the prices to drop again but its something to think about.

People generally do the whole character thing for customs on Aywas, but it happens with site pets here and there. Its usually restricted to one or two small groups in someone's lair :3 I can't imagine trying to do stuff with all my pets. I think I have nearly 7k slots xD

MisticPets's logic was probably the same as Subets

Wow, 7k o.o Only on Aywas would that be normal XD Though I wish some other sites would have the amount of slots! On aywas it's easy I guess since the names don't need to be unique? Here it'd make good names a rarity.

Yes, most sites who have high limits (flight rising, aywas...) seem to work with pet IDs as a unique identifier instead of pet names, meaning that they will never run out of names.

A 145 pets limit may not be viable on Subeta right now, haha!

Subeta is the only pet site I spend time on. Looking at the number of pets you can have on other sites I'm extremely jealous. I mean, I'm not looking to have 2000 pets because holy heck. But a total of ten upon joining seems extremely reasonable looking at those numbers.

I wonder how easy it'd be to change that for subeta (not that that'd ever happen). Since the pets here have ids, but for their profiles the links work with either their ids or their names so that'd be at least one concern. I'm not sure if their name's have much of an effect on other parts of the site other than maybe in the coding? And letting multiple pet's have the same name might be odd with the spotlight since different pets with the same name could win 2 spotlights in a row, or one person could make 5 pets with the same name + character but different profiles and stories.

I personally wouldnt like Subeta to change that, tbh. Good names have value, and I don't think Subeta will get big enough for a lack of names to become a real problem.

Fair enough! And yeah, it's definitely easier to get names here than on other sites, since a lot of other sites don't allow names to be taken after a year of inactivity. And subeta allows spaces in the name which other sites (where names are a problem) don't tend to do either.

I know Flight Rising does not allow spaces, special characters and NUMBERS in names, but does allow duplicate names!
