lol. yeah. i still dont get the plan for the minion battling. how did that come up in discussions/meetings. There's no backstory, was not suggested/requested heavily, kind of just died. just, hey lets do this.
next in, food fighting! tacos vs burritos
and im glad the battling system is being worked on, but it's also taken a huge hit in terms of economy. Loot aint worth a fuck (lucents @ 4mil?), boosters are cheap, amulets are being given out 5 a day consistently.
While I dont mind the last 2 (since i buy a lot), how does it help the economy if assets are being pumped out so often. You might as well sell amulets in the MC and limit to 5 day as an sp sink instead of essentially giving it out for "free."
Also, how does it make sense to release MC boosters or CS boosters that cost 3-4x as much.
Restocking is not going to get fixed, it was pointed out multiple times that Keith doesn't like it.
I'm sure that pretty much everything was planned to make people who were originally neutral/people who actually liked restocking dislike it.
From what I remember him saying somewhere he dislikes it because it was copied from Neopets. If he removed everything taken from Neopets this would just leave HAs - no pets, minions, quests or pet battling etc etc. Maybe we could train ourselves to fight in the arena. :)
The problem with killing restocking is that we still have limited vending and most of the vended items are low rarity. Quests are already suffering and it's only going to get worse.
But HA are copied from Gaia, so we probably wouldn't have HAs either.
Honestly, I'm really disillusioned with staff finding a "solution" to restocking problems because they made it clear they don't like restocking. (reference : that really biased survey we filled out a couple months ago)
Of course, people are going to like a simple-minded task like vending over actually having to remember what is profitable and what is not, so of course, more people are vending because well, it's easy. While restocking is not.
But, instead of making restocking more worthwhile and user-friendly, it got broken more instead
I trust staff on some things, but on the restocking thing, I'm really skeptical.
YES. Minion Zoo, new Wardrobe, new achievement system... can we PLEASE just have ONE thing finished and out of beta before starting someone something else?!
goes back to lurking since I haven't restocked since the Balloon Hut was closed. The Balloon Hut is dead, long live the Balloon Hut.
edit: Lofty can't type.
I wonder if Keith/staff realise now more than ever thanks to their unhelpful meddling that rsing on Subeta is just like rsing on Neopets if not worse!
Like...please? So many people are so frustrated and feel like this is never going to be addressed. Why is this being ignored?
I hate how he jumps from one revamp to the next, but in this case I think it's justified. The recent BC changes were kind of a mess and upset pretty much the entire battle community, so I think fast-tracking the coliseum revamp is his way of saving face.
So I'd love to see the wardrobe, achievements, and even the forums fixed, but honestly the battle community (and the battle admins) have been shafted long enough that they really deserve this attention.

^^This. I second every statement in this post wholeheartedly. I'm waiting until Keith gets online next to see what his response is, but the limited feedback he's issued so far where he basically says the new RS system has been an improvement and only needs a tweak here or there (which is especially frustrating when he's gotten ample user feedback to the contrary) doesn't instill much confidence. It was made clear from the beginning that Keith really doesn't like restocking, but at this point he's received enough user feedback to have to know that his user base doesn't agree with him on this point. Besides, I don't think that he necessarily anticipated how badly questing would take a hit from these changes either. He's pushing questing like crazy lately, so if he wants that to function properly he's going to have to truly fix the RS system (and he can't deny that it worked way better prior to these changes after getting this amount of feedback from so many unique users on so many threads spanning multiple forums). I still think he needs to revamp vending first anyway since any RS changes would have to be adjusted as soon as vending is changed up (and he can't say he wants to "fix the economy" with RS changes and not make revamping vending priority number one - it doesn't work the other way around due to how much vending impacts user shop prices and RSing).
I agree with you on this one. The battle community has gotten the shaft for quite some time, so I understand Keith devoting resources to that part of the site in particular. I think at this point the economy has gotten into a little bit of a predicament though, and so it might be time to start reassessing priorities if it's to be curbed before it gets totally out of hand.
"They have been screwed over for longer" is not a good answer for half-assing revamps and focussing on battle.
Following that logic, the entire site recode would have gone over everything else because we've been promised this friggin recode since the bigger part of the last decade, but there is always an excuse not to do it.
Yeah, it sucks that the battling community got shafted for years, but I'd rather see ressources used on things a majority of users use (SITE RECODE. ACHIEVEMENTS PROBABLY) than yet more things on battling, something that probably less than 10% of the userbase have as a primary hobby on the site?
- From the hints the battle admins are dropping, it sounds like the coliseum updates are moving along fairly quickly, so part of my justification is that it won't be too much of a diversion. It also sounds like it'll reduce event lag (the coliseum has always been terrible about that), so I'm crossing all my fingers and hoping this goes well and doesn't slip into development hell like most other things.
Otherwise, I totally agree with you about priorities. I'm still really upset about how the wardrobe is "progressing", and I've pretty much given up on achievements.
Maybe it's time to make another one of these threads:
Forum and wardrobe recodes, and priorities Everything is broken, lets revamp something else!

The thing is isn't... or at least shouldn't be the only programmer that can work on stuff!
If is skilled enough to code an entire minion battling feature, surely she is also skilled enough to work on the actual, existing battle system. The decision to have her create something new rather than improve what had been neglected was idiotic at best.
According to BOTH and are working on the battle system improvements...
http://subeta.net/forums.php/gotopost/57535498
So I don't think it's unreasonable for the non-battle community to want to get his attention and efforts refocused on the mess he created by "fixing" restocking.
I think one of the solutions that can improve rsing is to do a mass retirement at most of the shops and to clear them from old low rarity and SS cheap items.. It's even impossible to rs new items.. you see them so rarely, even the low rarity ones..
I'd say that RSers should refrain from spending any RL money on Subeta, or even buying CSC with sP (because that encourages non-RSers to invest cash that otherwise wouldn't be spent) until this idiotic mess gets sorted out, because nothing motivates some people like a blow to the wallet.
But I don't know how feasible that would be.
I feel less crazy now in my own theory. This is exactly what I dreaded would happen months ago when Keith first mentioned how much he dislikes restocking... aaaand here it is. Honestly, I'm less motivated to do ANYTHING on the site right now because it's 1) boring to know I can't find anything in shops and 2) pretty offensive he's just leaving the userbase out to dry on this.
Why does Keith dislike restocking so much? I always thought RSing was sort of the point of having user shops...
You know, just like the Battledome Coliseum. And quests/Item Hunt. And the NPC shops. And the shop search. And pets.
And HAs are too much like Gaia.
snort-laughs
Don't forget all the games, too. And the giving tree donation center. And the training center. And the forums. And the snowager Ikumadeeddumdee tree.
Don't pirates have a whole separate island over there, too?
Autopricing is one of the biggest draw of a Gold Account. Many users purchase a GA just to get this perk.
If the restocking system is not working, would there be any reasons for those users to re-purchase a GA? To spend more time on the site, spending money on CSC? Probably not.
I'm just not motivated to do things on the site. I'm not motivated to go buy a GA, not motivated to spend any real life money here. And with restocking being so bad? I doubt I'll become motivated to do so.
(Un)Fix restocking!
