The only one I think that could logically make sense/work, would be a tainted crown. Like, made of steel? Or lead? Or of black pearl? I probably wouldn't do straight black, due to darker hair colours, but a deep, dull-ish gray?

Perhaps. ^_^ I mean the original is white but it has a silverish tinge to it too. I guess it depends on if the gold one I have in mind fills easily like the original did then I can think of more colors. But really for a tiara it basically comes down some variety/shade of either gold or silver.
