I agree. It had me confused as heck when it first showed up, though I guess I've somewhat gotten used to the new look.
Yay! Features: Filter works Long Usernames Fit You can post from explore page You can see and post on the SB from your phone now!
Oh thank goodness, it's about time the sMail system was improved upon. :)
How about that? lol

The green bar empties as you start running out of space.
For those who say it was different before, it wasn't. I had three sMails before the change and I have those same three now. The green bar hasn't changed a bit.

Oh! That's... counter-intuitive.

Interesting new changes, glad to see these types of things being implemented. Just curious though, I noticed a new thing loading at the bottom of ever page (like Subet.net img.subeta.net, ect.) is this new feature running on something called "Pusher"? cause I noticed it showing up a bit when pages load.
Yup! I decided that instead of building out our own interactive framework for things (events, shoutbox, etc) we could rely on a service that does it much better. They constantly push out new features / increase speed / etc on their end, instead of me having to fiddle with another technology.
So yeah, we've moved to pusher for that :)

The shoutbox isn&;t used by most users, but these updates pave the way for a more interactive sMail system in the future!

Uhhhh that makes sense... uhmmm... am I the only one to wonder why the bother then?
Agreed.
Read that again.
Go Bills!
Thanks for these updates. Admittedly, I don't use the shoutbox at all... But looking forward to the changes for sMail...
I need my < > symbols. Just like with sMail, they delete the text now.
(fix it, pleeeease)

Posting here as it relates to the updated Shoutbox (since we're redirected to the new Community Guidelines before being able to see it)...this brand new chunk in guidelines that we must agree to:
How do you plan to accurately control this? You don't really have any right to know/punish/react to postings made outside of Subeta - and unless its actual harassment of a staff member - not someone talking to someone else about them but actual direct harassment of the staff member - and you can verify by IP address that the person doing the harassing is the same as a user on here (and again, how would you have access to our IP on any site except here as you're not the owner of our email companies or of any social media sites) - I mean, I just don't see how you plan to enforce this or how you feel that it's acceptable to threaten to big brother us off the site?
Should people be awesome and respectful towards staff? Of course. But everyone is entitled to their opinions on staff/members/etc. And unless they're directly harassing a member of the staff and you can verify it is actually the user and not someone pretending to be them etc etc, I just don't understand what the purpose of that chunk is. You can't punish people for having an opinion. And legally you have no cause to take action against a user for actions committed outside of your area of purview (Subeta).
This is causing quite a stir among people who now fear that in retaliation for criticism (even politely worded) they may lose their accounts and all the money they've invested here - which leads to people fearing to invest here - which leads to less money flowing into the site.
You may want to clear that section up if you meant actual harassment of staff with verification of identity or something - which again, I don't see how you can legally obtain to confirm the person is who they're claiming to be =/
Just a little issue I've run into:
So I keep my SB in a completely separate window and I never refresh or change the page (usually it's just the main Subeta page).
I have a different window for all my actual Subeta playing stuff, just so I can always see the SB. I've been noticing when I do things in this window (not the SB window), the SB will still mess up in its separate window, mostly going back to old posts randomly until I post something in the SB. Then it will correct itself.
[edit] screenshot Left window is the up-to-date window. Right window is posts behind. Even posting didn't fix it "omg i'm so sick of the new SB" was the newest post. And it was still showing old posts underneath it
This still hasn't been addressed? I'm having half of my post eaten up... not even using < > this time so I don't know what's going on. And I'm having to go to like 10 different pages just to get the SB to load. Seriously problematic.
Never said it made any sense. Just that it actually hasn't changed. :P

welp (keep in mind, my sidebar is larger than regular layout sidebar too...)
In terms of the comment bubble being moved... I don't think that was the issue... I think the issue is there is no max limit on user names.
Maybe an upper limit on user names is needed? We have a lower limit (3 characters) so we should probably do the same in the other direction. If there is one, maybe it needs to be lowered.
