those won't work, but npcs are the only "users" that have brackets in their username, so it won't adversely affect any actual users. but they should still be pingable (if you wanted to) with underscores!

replace the [ and ] with underscores, too. :)

yeah that was also fixed with this, but since it was solely a display thing (in the post after the fact) and not a functional thing (since the pings still went through), i didn't mention it :P

Because you didn't put it in brackets. It should be (without the spaces) [ @ Ryuu-Ryuga ]

[@ Ryuu-Ryuga] Well that person pinged you with the underscore version ( @ Ryuu_Ryuga ), not the new thing that's specifically for special characters, which, as I said in the first post, is unreliable (and honestly always has been).

edit: okay well crap someone having the username ryuu apparently will mess that up either way, however what i said to you, , still applies. you have to use the brackets if the username has a - in it.

well the reason for that is the fact that there's a user , which i am pushing a fix for right now! :)

yeah it is actually sending the ping out, i's just pinging them both and only showing in the post. the fix that i thought i had wasn't actually 100% right, but i will get it! regular expressions are confusing sometimes haha

edit: you seem to have gotten that ping, though, and the code hasn't changed, so it might take some time for me to figure out? can you link me to a post where someone's pinged you and it didn't work? :)

[-Guru] i'm going to guess you meant the one a few posts down from yours? that person just typed -guru, which is why you didn't get pinged.

[-Guru] the first one is also not broken, because they didn't use brackets. the second one is because there's a limit of 10 pings in a post and bracket pings get processed after regular @ pings, which made the ping to you , not , so it did not go through.

[-Guru] yes, the ping button is working. you don't have to use the ping button, though, because manually typing the brackets also works.

but yeah people who aren't using the brackets are likely just typing in the ping and don't know to use brackets to make it work.
