I'm going to be completely honest here - we own this community, and this isn't a democracy. Users are the reason that we make the site, but we also have a lot more data and information to what is going on beyond the feedback forum - there are users who feel uncomfortable even going into the forums at all that we need to take into account when we're listening to feedback and acting on it.

That is actually one of the points of us writing these is that no one should feel bossed around, not even the staff. We take feedback super seriously, but if it's not constructive or just mean it doesn't have the intended purpose of making the site better.

Haha, we appreciate the filter being able to be turned off, believe me :P AND I'm in Colchester basically June+ (or can be since that is where lives) so tell me when and I'm down to get drinks :P

I don't know a user in the ten years we've been making Subeta that has been banned for having an opinion. The MMs will be sending us (staff in general) people they think deserve the achievement for whatever reason, but it won't be for one post / thread. If you are generally helpful (think , , etc) you'll get the achievement. Spamming the W&I will not.

TBH I'd like to delete the debate forums.

I actually reblogged newbie on the Subeta tumblr blog because I really like it, and I'd link it elsewhere, too!

You can always file an appeal ticket for warnings or freezings, and we make sure that the UA who warned/froze does not do the review. :)

I think it's hard, though. Critiquing the idea ("wow, this is the worst idea I've ever seen / this is the worst idea I've ever seen / the worst pet i've ever seen) = "wow the person who came up with this idea is stupid / bad at art / can't come up with a story to save their lives" etc. It's a really hard line to walk!

People won't be banned from the site for this, and each "public" ban will only come with a number of time (we're still working on this). The thing is - if you're frequently told that your tone is hurting peoples feelings or offending people, maybe that is something to look at and a forum ban would give you the kind of feedback to do that (not you in particular, but anyone who has this problem) and someone who can't follow the spirit of these rules probably just isn't someone we want on the site anyway.

Also I do want to say that this isn't something we'll take lightly. One bad post isnt' going to mean forum bans for eternity, or even a few hours. If you seem like you're making a lot of mean spirited posts (which is like 0.000001% of our community!) then we'll take action, not without discussing it among staff first.

Yeah, I think you're the perfect example. I don't always agree with you and you REALLY WANT THE STAT CAP DONE AWAY WITH and we can disagree with that and still make really awesome things happen when we do agree (or you can convince me to do something :P) and I really appreciate that :D!
