Welcome to Subeta! I'm not too sure what you mean by stories, like site background? We have a nice events calendar that is new (http://subeta.net/subetapedia/index.php?act=ventry&id=141), as well as a nice collection of stories in the Subetapedia :) Masquerade is a popular event that is coming up, so that is something you can look forward to and read up on if you like ^__^

Just fyi, the way to 'ping' any user without quoting, is simply to put an @ in front of a username with no space, or to press the little megaphone button on the top right corner of each post :)

Users with symbols in their name (_, . etc.) need to have an underscore in place of the symbol (the megaphone will covert it for you automatically :))

You can also edit a post, on the top right corner :) Our boards function more like an actual forum than a chat board, so having the edit feature prevents 'bumps', and hopefully keeps the posts more quality, and threads should be active based on interest, rather than one person keeping a thread active by themselves :)
